Anything that is not able to absolutely decimate path of exile in the pc-arpg genre would've been doomed to fail. As long as PoE is alive and kicking, there won't be a D4, or honestly, even a D3Exp2.

Blizzard knew this, so they went a completely different direction with mobile.

The problem is, mobile as it is is more tailored towards the asia market. It most certainly will be successful there. But having this in mind, announcing it with such a big ceremony was the big wrong decision here.

If they would've announced nothing (and just did this in some asia only thing....) or as a side note (like: oh btw we're bringing diablo to mobile, tailored for asia market, but you can play it outside of asia as well) it would've been better than this. everything would've been better than this.

This is the worst PR they could've ever gotten out of that. I feel really sad for blizzard, but the shitstorm which is brewing or already ongoing is self made, and thus deserved. But I still feel sad for them, because blizzard usually had great success with whatever they did. Or at least they hat like neutral reactions (HoTS being the only real thing which isn't a huge success I guess), and now they're getting such an overwhelmingly bad reaction from basically everywhere...

posted a message on Season 2 level 70 starter build (pre M6)
What I am saying is, there are several stages of progressing

    a) Get the ring of royal grandeur. This is pretty much mandatory for every serious endgame build, because it just opens so much possibilities for gearing which wouldn't be available otherwise

b1) get Rare gear to be able to start torment

b2) Farm (at least) T1 (or whatever your current gear allows you to do in a reasonable time) to get 5 or 6 pieces of Marauder set.

    c) farm Greater rifts on low level for gems and level gemsd) farm rifts on higher torment for more legendary and improvements to the gear

Now eventually I will have all of this. M5 + RoRG + a good weapon + the quiver for more sentries + other stuff that improves my build. at this point I should be able to farm higher torments and punctually improve every slot even further, and with each improvements, even higher greater rifts will be possible etc. The way when I GET to that point is clear, but the actual way TO that point can be taken on different approaches...

    .

    1) I could farm my damn ass off A1 normal bounties until I have the ring (which could be lucky and I get it fast, or it would be unlucky and I farm like hundreds of those bounty boxes until I get it), then go for Rare gear on normal (if I do not have it by that time anyways), then go for Torment 1 Rift farming (and spending bloodshards at the appropriate slots) until I have 5 Pieces of marauder, then get the gems, increase difficultiy until I also have the quiver. (a >= b > c >= d)

    2) or I could first try to farm e.g. on expert or master until I have proper rare gear, then farm torment until I have M6, then farm higher torment A1 bounties for higher dropchance of the RoRG, then farm even higher torments for further gear improvements (b > c > a > d)

    3) or I could screw the ring until I can farm T6 while being asleep, so the bounties have almost guaranteed legendaries. (b > c > d > a)

what is the general "best" strategy?

    Hi guys,

thanks for this tips, especially phnyx for this detailed description.

I wonder how the actual progress goes... do I farm T1 rifts until I have M6? Do I actually do progress in GRifts before I have M6? isn't it better to focus purely on A1 bounties until I have royal grandeur? do I do this before or after M6 (=Rift) farming? what do spent my Blood shards on after I have at least some adequate 70 rares? quiver? armor slots where I want marauder on?

I played very casually before and the most I had was M2 and being able to farm T2 rifts. I try to do it at bit more focussed in S2, so any beginner tips what to farm first? because all at once is not possible^^

    thanks,

posted a message on Season exclusive legendaries
    Hey guys,

sorry for the maybe noobish question, but I was searching for that specific question and I didn't find an answer.

We had the season 1 specific items which unlocked a lot of new builds, e.g. the shield for crusader that changes condemn from 15 sec cd zu 40 wrath cost.

I am aware that seasonal characters become non-seasonal on tuesday, but what I am wondering is... will all those items be able to continue to drop in non-season and season 2 then? or are they really exclusive season 1 items that won't drop anymore anywhere when season 1 ends?

    thanks,

    xeb

posted a message on Legendary item chance revealed :(
This list is difficult to believe to be true, because I have found a Starfire (legendary wand) on my hardcore crusader, which at the time was my only hardcore character. according this list, all wands have a 0.00% chance to drop for any class but wizards.

plus it's a lowlvl (lvl19), it was the very first legendary to ever drop on any hardcore character for me (crusader was my first HC).

sooo...while there might be some truth in it, I would not take this as granted and the holy grail.

and at the end, d3 is a farming game. you have to farm to get stuff. and you have to farm a lot to get the stuff you actually want. I don't really see a problem in that. if everyone would have the best items within 10 hours of playing, everyone would cry "you can get OP so fast there is nothing left to do in the game anymore".

posted a message on Catch me if you can - a much fun witch doctor build
Sooo... I've tried some builds now, and the one I ended up using now is a mixture of some builds, but the very core I got from somewhere in the comments section on this site. But I thought, I just share it with you guys.

My current stats - unbuffed - are: 3591 int, 2855 vita 580-650 resistances, only my lightning res is standing out with 710 for some reason. I have 54k dmg, 766k toughness and 1310 healing. no crit or crit dmg at all. 276.5 life per hit, 2844 life per kill. health globe bonus 2331. 120k HP.

so, all in all, you see, it's not really special. Due to the low damage I only play torment 1 so far, but when I manage to get some bigger dps upgrades, I'll try the higher difficulties, I'm sure it will be fun there also. I don't use any special legendaries or set items, or use any special +cold dmg or anything. just take what you have. Only thing that is really helping is life on hit, but I don't have THAT much of it either.

Paragon levels, well I am only paragon 38, so there is not much to say. Ive put everything I have into Intelligence, attack speed, resist all and life on hit. if you have more points to spent, I think you can basically do what you want.

now on to the build Itself:

    http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#ghUdij!Tef!Zcacbc

For the moment it looks like a standard Spirit Barrage - Rush of Essence Build, which is quite popular these days. and tbh, it somewhat is, but the other spells are quite uncommon, I haven't seen them often. Locust swarm - Searing Locusts: it is a surprisingly hard hitting dot. you really recognize its damage. Since I loved locust swarm the very first moment it was in the first original preview of D3's witch doctor, I just had to have it in that build - the important stuff about this is - you cast int once and then forget about it for 8 seconds, it does its stuff alone. Spirit Walk - Jaunt is the defensive part of the build, and now it gets interesting. Mass Confusion - Mass Hallucination is just OP. even the biggest champions get confused and some spirit does also unattended on his own quite a lot damage. Soul harvest - Vengeful Spirit hits like a truck, and Hex - Angry Chicken just gives it the rest. Transform to a giant (well maybe not THAT giant..actually a minature) chicken, and go all kamikaze into the pack and boom. Plus it is a knockback on explode. Plus it also frees you from jailor. Plus the boom hits like an even bigger truck. especially when you chain use it after soul harvest in the middle of a pack of mobs.

passives: rush of essence is clearly needed for mana management, and to make spirit barrage work for single target spam. Grave injustice is extremely good for big trash packs which die fast. Spirit vessel is just your insurance for not dying once every 90 seconds.

The tactic is currently, run into mobs, soul harvest, hex, explode, locust swarm. if stuff is still alive, spirit barrage them to death. Big, low life packs just spam soul harvest and hex. usually the one has its cooldown reset by the time you have used the second. in the fight with Iskatu at the beginning of Act4 I basically spammed ONLY soul harvest, and by doing so, I made a record of massacre of over 350. Was quite fun... :D For rares and champions use mass confusion as often as possible and spam-refresh locust swarm, and all other skills. at some point you have to spirit barrage them to death. use hex also to get out of stuff if necessary, spirit walk as well. it's not an unkillable spec, and since I am only playing softcore myself, I can't comment how well it works on hardcore. I usually die every now and then, but it still is fun as hell.

so, why do I like that build so much after all. I drain souls (and get a big damage boost), then spam mobs with locust swarm, and confuse at least half of them, they kill each other while being raped by a giant ass spirit and an exploding chicken, and then that mofo of which doctor goes byebye for three seconds. Hilarious.^^

Hopefully some of you will also have as much fun with that as I have. enjoy :)

    Hi,

I saw that video and I'm definitely trying this build, although probably not on T6.

But I saw in your video that there are little icons instead of text when something drops. is that some sort of setting in D3 now that I have overlooked? If not, what is it?

So, in 1.0.4 we’re increasing the health of normal monsters by approximately 5%-10% in Inferno

act 2 wasps and jump-and-hit-on-landing-mobs will just be so fucking much fun now. especially for glass cannons.

they need to lower the damage of those mobs (I guess everyone knows what I'm talking about), then it all is just fine. but those act two wasps/jumpers are already ridiculous, they will be even more annoying with that change.

other than that, that bluepost is excellent.

didn't check the calculation again, I think it worked just fine the first time, I don't think you messed up badly in this case xD

performance wise it's alot better. I am at a very crappy laptop right now and it is fine - just as it should be. :)

They should have just reduced the damage but kept the multi-hit mechanic of the skill
They did this. They called it "Ball Lightning". Since 2 spells doing the exact same thing with the exact same damage is absolutely retarded, they did the alternative - removing the multitarget thing.

oh and btw, they still havent manged to fix the freaking tooltip of ball lightning. it still labels as 155% weapon damage, just as NT, which still does about double the damage per hit.
