With BlizzCon 2008 coming up this week, attending Diablo fans are wondering whether or not they'll finally get a chance to play a demo of the long-awaited Diablo 3 at the event. Blizzard has just released the following information about BlizzCon:
"We’ve just released the final schedule and floor plan for BlizzCon. The schedule lists the locations and times for the major events that will take place during the convention, such as hands-on gaming, tournaments, contests, and of course the developer panels where Blizzard’s game designers talk about the many aspects of making a great game. The floor plan will give you more information on the exact locations of this year’s points of interest such as the stores, hands-on gaming stations, and more.
After a quick look at the floor plan, you'll notice three different color-coded "Hands-on Gaming" sections. Based on their colors, it seems like there's one for Starcraft 2, one for Wrath of the Lich King, and one for Diablo III.
That being said, there is still no official confirmation as to whether or not a demo of the game will be playable as Bashiok explains to us:
"We're very excited to be offering additional hall space and hands-on gaming areas, including our Retro Arcade. The games available at each area will be listed in the show schedule handed out at the time of badge pick up." -Bashiok
Definitely looking forward to checking out the Retro Arcade as well. Here's hoping The Lost Vikings is included!
And take a look at that schedule of events. I'm definitely looking forward to the Diablo III Gameplay, Diablo III Lore & Art, and Diablo III Class Design panels along with some other general Blizzard ones... how about you guys?
rofl, i just went to the official site and saw that, and went to post about it, as i load up the site i see that mockery beat me to the punchline.
F***.
lol, i do hope it is playable though, a new gameplay video would be very nice. I also want to have diablo lore updates, i'm one of those people who really gets into a game with good story, and that effects a large quantity of overall playability for me.
A starcraft 2 zerg section would be lovely, i want to read the story behind some of those new badass zerg units that make infested terran marines... WHO USE GUNS!
With three gaming areas, and three games in production, I think it's safe to say you will be able to play Diablo 3 to some degree. Though of course I'm not 100% sure
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
HEY! whoevers going to Blizzcon here, better play it and better try Everything out! including pressing the escape button, opening tp's and checking out the skill tree! WRITE everything down and FEEDBACK! Lucky SOB's!!!
OK THIS SUCKS FOR THOSE WHO CANT GO OR DON't HAVE DIRECTV...there is no mention of a Live broadcast so i think we can guess they made a Directv only deal this year which isnt too smart especially if it rains anywhere in the world cuz then bye bye satellite...other than that im psyched for the news updates on this shit i cant wait for the new class and if theres a demo i will kill all who enter the hall with the demo becuase im SO FUCKING ENVIOUS

don't listen to the comcast/time warner propaganda
also, buying blizzcon on tv isn't worth it unless they are announcing their new mmo

Umm, i think you just busted your own hypothesis there with the "retro arcade". Lets have a count, shall we? Assuming retro arcade is one of the THREE hands on places, that means one will be a retro arcade (diablo I anyone?) another will 100% be starcraft 2, and the other will either be WotLK (most probable) or Diablo III (sadly, probably not) So.. It's probably not going to be a diablo iii demo there. We can always hope, though.

Mockery is the all-master.
Hehe, and a full playable demo sounds pretty awesome. I wonder if the "players" will be doing the first quest, or will they be playing a level made just for the game?

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

I can only sit here and stew in my own jealously and anticipation.
lol there is no way diablo 3 is coming out in 08
maybe they will announce all 5 classes by the end of 08, but that's it
Early 09 - SC2
Late 09 - D3
Late 10 - World of *****
I won't add much about this question, but based on what we already know and my healthy logic...
...My bet is; Yes.

Do you have a videocamera ? Would be nice to see you play the demo if there is one so we can see the new content hehe
