Oct 8, 2008Romak posted a message on Bashiok: Monsters Against MonstersIt may sound weird, but it starts for feel like we're not fighting demons anymore. It's more like a "fantasy world" with weird animals. The Dune Thresher for example... he's body structure was meant to allow him to burrow in the sand - It doesn't really sound like a demon from hell (sand? in hell?) and with creatures starting to attack each other... like, aren't they suppose to be in the same side? Isn't it their common goal to make things hard for humans? Imagine Diablo summoning a bunch of demons and they all start fighting each other >.< I know it's alot more interesting like that, but it just doesn't fit in the lore.... but who am I to judge? :/Posted in: News

I won't add much about this question, but based on what we already know and my healthy logic...
...My bet is; Yes. -

That's what I meant in my post. It's okay You don't have to check this site every hour of the day to know everything about D3, that just makes you a nerd like me ^^ -
Oct 4, 2008Romak posted a message on AusGamers Interview - Co-operative GameplayPosted in: NewsQuote from "iEv0" »Imagine if D2 Ubers dropped a torch for every player... how awesome would that be?
Not so awesome.
1. Because people would just come with their mule accounts and get extra torches. I'm not kidding, some people play with more than 1 computer at a time.
2. Because it's less exciting when you know you have a sure torch drop, and your other party members have a sure torch drop too even if they don't help as much as you do.
I really hope these issues will be taken care of somehow.
1 account per CD key prevents issue #1, but makes an account loss more fatal.
Making a monster drop loot for all other players only if they are in the same party can make parties consider to 'kick/leave' a non-helpful player, but that brings back the 'loot stealing' so that's not a good idea for issue #2.
Everything has it's cons and pros -

Well, judging from the number of people who actually knew it's an old interview, I guess it's good to have it back in the news page ^^

Oct 4, 2008Romak posted a message on Diablo 3 ScavengerFinished models don't usually look like their concept art. The Dune Thresher, Scavenger and even the Assault Beast don't look the same in the concept art.Posted in: News
Concept art, like it's name, is meant to give the "idea" of the model. In concept art, the artist is allowed to go wherever he wants with his work; add more spikes here and there, put more hair over here... etc. after that, the developers look the the work and say "We want that in our game", but then, there's a problem. They need to translate the drawing into a 3 dimentional model with various animations and actions, make him fit into different environments, skills, and with all that, make the model not too complicated in order to save file size and not have a bunch of that monster slow down the computer's performance. All that is being taken into consideration after coming up with a concept, that's the reason monsters don't look the same in-game. -
Oct 3, 2008Romak posted a message on BlizzCon -- Submit your questionsPosted in: NewsQuote from "sonicpld" »- Will be a game released this winter ?
Diablo 3 will be released when it's done. Most chances it won't be released this winter.
- Will be back Sorcerer and Paladin ?
The barbarian will be the only returning class in Diablo 3. There might be returning classes in an expansion for the game, but it's way too early to think about that.
- Will be there other missunderstandings like "Which doctor" ?
Misunderstanding?... The next announced classes will probably recieve the same reception as the witch doctor, if that's what you meant. I wasn't really sure what you meant, sorry.
- Will be back and advanced runewords ?
No, this feature is most likely being pulled off.
- What will be lvl cap ?
For now, Diablo 3 is going for the same level cap as Diablo 2 - 99. Maybe it will be raised to 100, but there is no drastic change being planned currently.
- Will be Stall trade - like in Silkroad ?
Stall trade? Sorry, I don't know "Silkroad".
This is the most important questions about Diablo 3.
I answered your questions as best as I could based on what we already know... in question 3 and 6 I wasn't sure what you were talking about. -
Oct 3, 2008Romak posted a message on Diablo 3 ScavengerPosted in: NewsQuote from "Veltras" »If by doing something you mean making them post that screenshot... Even though there has been a lot of talking about the graphics I doubt it will change anything. It doesn't take a genius to know that Diablo is supposed to be dark, creepy and gothic. The game is obviously a lot darker that what we have seen so far and there's no good reason to show us the best of it a year before the release.
*sigh*... Every time I use the word 'art' someone have to oppose what I say! It's like saying 'f*g' in a gay forum! Gosh... that's the last time I refer to that subject ever again... and yes, by something I mean showing that screen shot as well. Plus I completely agree with what you say, there's alot more than 'night time' to come. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

The Outcasts are assassins who were part of "The Order" long ago, during the events of the final struggle against the Prime Evils. At some point before the destruction of the Worldstone, a group of 8 assassins betrayed their order and got caught. They were sentenced to death, but escaped with their admirable agility. With nowhere to go, those 8 assassins started to make a living out of demon raiders' possession, from Fallen Ones to desert cats. Almost nobody knows who they are, they always wear a leather mask that hides their face completely, but those who know refer to them as the Outcasts. The outcasts also developed a unique way of fighting, for they no longer assassinate, the outcasts are especially good in melee combat, usually using a scythe or flail. Although they no longer control the shadow arts, they are very agile. Also, they have a unique kind of traps, better known as the enchanted lanterns. Those lanterns use the same kind of magic that sorcerers do. They float in mid air providing support of all kinds to their party. After the destruction of the Worldstone, they seperated. But now, 20 years later, they once aid in battle against evil.

I agree that a game doesn't really need amazing, complicated graphics to be successful. Of course, it needs a basic level of quality, but that's it. When you think of it, even though Diablo 3 doesn't have amazing graphics, there were many things that were visually impressive like the explosion in the summoning of the Thousand Pounder, or the Siege beast fatalities. I remember one of the devs said "We try to make this game as visually interesting as possible", there are many ways to make a game pretty without making the 3D models more complicated

That kind of things don't really matter on the internet, and even in the outside world, I love everybody, even you!!
Anyway, Crysis is the best example of how graphics are a minor issue. All of Blizzard's games are success, but none have good graphics. Crysis has the best/most realistic graphics yet in a video game, and also one of the worst FPS I've ever played... gameplay is unoriginal and storyline is boring. Crytek's funds -> 99% graphics, 1% everything else. I've played better text-based games...

A while back, I saw something interesting in the Live Blizzcon Blog of diii.net.
Read what is being said before and after my comment in the blog:
He wasn't kidding. Look at that weird circle:
So runes are now offically a new type of equipment? The most logic guess is - Yes... and that's where you put your skill runes. Does anyone have any other guess?
