Heh, yep, he's got those 2 screaming mouths on his shoulder's.
I didn't notice a hole for the soulstone either, dunno if that proves diablo or not.
Although there is like a slit kinda thing on his forehead, could be a soulstone hole.
thats a good point there is a slit on his head where you could assume there would be soulstones. i mean it could be diablo or it might not be. i mean the name of the game is his name so of course he would be in there. but whos to say belial the lord of lies or azmodan the lord of sin might not have some sort of lesser soulstones?

It doesn't look diablo-y enough for me though, I think that guy is going to end up being belial or azmodan, probably belial.
Just seems fitting that the lord of lies would have 3 mouths.

dont get my wrong i think they said that they will include belial. but how would lies win over sin. after all arent lies a form of sin? i dunno but 10 bucks says that whenever they reveil a azmodan vrs belial fight in the game or a book my 10 bucks says that azmodan whoops dat trick
Whether people like his new look or not, it's Diablo. I'm sorry. Here's the evidence.
On July 29th, 2008, during the San Diego Comic Con, Blizzard unveiled the "Overthrown" Statue.[1] It presents the Barbarian standing atop a defeated Diablo.[2] There are two versions available for pre-order: one with a horned helm and one without. They are still not finished and are yet to be painted, but the retail versions will be.[3] They are 18" or 457.2mm in height , 12.5" or 317.5mm in width and 13" or 330.2mm in diameter and weight 15 pounds or 6.8 kg and both cost 300 $. [4][5] They are the first of the Diablo III Premium Statue series of statues. [2]
The heads are completely identical. Most easily noted in the giant horns.
Heh, well I guess thats our proof.
But still, I can't help but think that it's a different demon, just looks too different.
Diablo in the first two games looked faqirly similar, I don't see why they would make such radical changes to his appearance.

I think he looked more human in D1 because he was inhabiting the body of Albrect, the king's son.
He probably looked more demonic in D2 because he inhabited the hero who killed him, who probably would have been twisted and partially tainted by demonic influence upon becoming possessed by Diablo, which would had led to a much more demonic appearence.
Albrect was a boy, and was probably quite pure, which would had led to a human(ish) appearance.
And in D3, like Dauroth said, he will be himself ^^. Since he doesn't have a host body.

There is no more host. We're no longer fighting a reincarnation or avatar. It's the real deal.
He is going to be so bad ass. You know, I watch the gameplay trailer when the players fight that giant cerberus type demon. That fight was epic. And then they went and said, "Oh that? That's not even a boss fight". And then my imagination races to even try to come up with a glimpse of what the Diablo fight is going to be like.
I'm agreeing with the theroy that this is just diablo's NOW BEHOLD MY TRUE FORM.
Maybe has to do with the fact that he is entering the world without using a human host like he did in diablo 1 and 2.
Maybe all 3 prime evils get reincarnated in the same body.
Diablo's head is the one in the middle and the other heads are baal and mephisto.
Maybe they fuse together or smthing i dun know
I just remembered that they said that Diablo III will conclude the story! So basically, this means that A) We kill Diablo for good! or Diablo wins and rules over or destroys Sanctuary! How can he be killed so he wouldn't come back? I suspect there will be a great twist in the lore!
Hmm... Maybe it's judgement day..
Where it ends with the final battle between heaven and hell
so there cannot be a sequel
Maybe everything will be destroyed and then we get to sit there like .....wtf..........we....lost..........we won in the other 2 but now we loose NO NO NO NO N O NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOO

did anyone one think the the 3 headed Diablo might be the merger of the prime evils? after being banished from Sanctuary the three joined their powers together to be able to return to Sanctuary and finally take it over.

My life is like a dragon, first praised, then hated, now lost.
this has probably already been brought up, but i didn't look back through every page.
for those saying that this is more likely Belial or Azmodan than Diablo, i'm fairly certain it's Diablo. aside from the fact that the games are named after him and he will surely continue to be our main boss, and aside from the fact that this still looks enough like his other appearances to make the connection, there's also his forehead.
looks like a scar from where the soul stone used to be jabbed into his head.
I don't know. It could be Diablo, Combination of the Three, or it could be some other demon, but whomever it is I have to say that that looks very bright. the whole game looks a bit to Warcrafty to me. actuallyone of the reasons I love Diablo 2 LOD and not WoW was because of the fact that Diablo has always been a lot more dark and grity. I really hope it stays that way or Blizzard might have some problems.
Also, Diablo is the lord of terror. He takes the form of the most terrible form to whoever sees him, no one knows what he really looks like... so im saying its him and that it is just a bad ass form meant to scare the person viewing him... that's my two cents at least.

D1 we kill Diablo in Human form.
D2 we kill Diablo in Soulstone form.
Resulting him to be banished to the Black Abyss.
He somehow comes back from the Black Abyss, which I might add some people attribute to being Space/Sky.
D3 we kill him in his true forum.
Then as Blizzard said D3 will be the final game in this story line.
i read the book, did it actually say he was an insect or are you assuming so because his servant is a mantis? Just wondering?
