I don't know. It could be Diablo, Combination of the Three, or it could be some other demon, but whomever it is I have to say that that looks very bright. the whole game looks a bit to Warcrafty to me. actuallyone of the reasons I love Diablo 2 LOD and not WoW was because of the fact that Diablo has always been a lot more dark and grity. I really hope it stays that way or Blizzard might have some problems.

when they released mephisto, the largest shard was given to his high priest so he could become mephisto incarnate - i'm assuming the largest shard was the only one large enough for mephisto's power, otherwise we would have 7 mephistos running around everywhere

it also fits with the baal part - the shard must be a certain size to be able to contain the power of one of the prime evils, the other 6 shards from mephisto's soulstone were not large enough to hold his power

but the peices, however small, would still have a part of mephisto right? so if someone collected all six of the smaller peices and stabed them into themself or bound with them or whatever-they would have a larger peice of mephisto in them than the simple one peice in D2. Right?

he does seem to be an orc with red bat wings and horns coming out of his forhead----not very good if you ask me. but one thing is that he supposedly took over Prince Albreicht's bod so maybe the "human taint" took away from his true awesomness!

And if they had stayed with the vengeance thing it would seem a lot lik peasants quest...

    okay here is my question-
in a lore book i read Heaven and Hell were always evenly matched. so how did the Angels match the Demons if the Demons have larger numbers+the Seven Evils? Did the Angles have like a super powerful God dude or something? Is the Angiris Counsel a huge step up in power than an Arch-Angel?

    i don't know...

in the lore thing i read Heaven and Hell were always evenly matched and that is why both angels and demons are fighting for power over sanctuary-they need humans to tilt the war to their favor. so even if heaven did absolutely nothing-according to what i read-the demons would still come back to try and turn us all.

oh almost forgot as for it being Tyrael on the hom page i'm pretty sure of that but-it could by Inarius. it says in the book that they both look extremely alike but there are only very minor differences in the armor. But agreed it is probably not Imperius.

I don't see a corrupted Tyreal story happening anyways... never made sense to me.

Diablo's stone was smashed in a cinematic. I think by smashing the stones it just sent the demon back to hell and they were unable to come back to the mortal plane. It didn't destroy them.

I've read all the books except Demonsbane. But I stopped halfway through Moon of the Spider because I didn't like it.

I wouldn't be too shocked if D3 was a prequel because of the Sin war trilogy. It seemed to me that it was a setup for a prequel, but I hope I'm wrong.

Other than a prequel, the destruction of the Worldstone could be seen as a balance of power issue. Sanctuary is a threat because of the destruction of the Worldstone? The angels and the demons could start to rush into the realm of Sanctuary to wage 3 sided war: Angels vs Demons vs Humans caught in the middle. Then D3 could tell the story of how the mortals pushed the Demons out or maybe even the Angels too... they weren't too friendly in that book! Calling us abominations... and wanting to purge us from creation before Tyreal was like NO WAY.... I think that would make a good story maybe...
Nope. i dont think that that is possible because it says on the website itself that this is like twenty years after d2lod so it cant be a prequel. i think...

i think that the place Lillith was sent in the bubble was that pit/abyss thing. and to Unkelgus: i think that that actually could work. what if when the worldstone (that was originally a barrier to stop heaven and hell from getting to earth but then became a portal that let hell arrive but still blocked heaven) was destroyed it blasted Tyrael to annother plane or something? it was a 'portal' after all. i think that maybe tyrael is kind of imprisoned in this other plane and he is trying to find a way to get himself back to help the humans. i really think that we should do that little kid game. should we put it to a vote?

Wait a minute. i'm a bit confused here. from what i remember Baal 'Corrupted it'. does that mean that Baal ended up putting a piece of himself in it or is it just tainted like i thought?

    Quote from "Archanum" »
Lets try and develop this alittle further....

We know that angels can't stay in sanctuary for long (Act 3 cinematic of D2 when Tyrael says that the power that holds him to Sanctuary is fading fast and he can't stay)...so how is it that Imperius could come to Sanctuary and stay while retaining power?

That is what the soulstones did for the Prime Evils... They allowed them to anchor to the mortal plane and retain great amounts of power

Any ideas on how Imperius could do this? Maybe a shard from the Worldstone? Or maybe it isn't needed any longer since the Worldstone is destroyed?

i agree. unless i'm wrong, Inarius made the worldstone to hide this world from The High Heavens and The Burning hells and prevent them from staying for long periods of time. so if the worldstone got destryed maybe Imperius comes to destroy Sanctuary.

I'm not saying Tyrael became evil, he became Baal, he didnt have a choice in the matter hes just baal in a shiny new suit

Have any of you thought that maybe the "Evil Tyrael" is maybe not Tyrael? Maybe he is actually Inarius or some other angel. i think that maybe Tyrael, after destroying the world stone (that stopped hell or heaven from entering but then became a portal to hell or something like that) was almost dead, or actually dead and Inarius somehow escaped from his prison and since he looks a lot like Tyrael he took his place so you maybe do a whole bunch of quests for him thinking that he is actually Tyrael until the real Tyrael comes and is like "I never told you to do that!" and you have to undo what Inarius has done. but i am pretty sure that Tyrael is not evil. as someone else has said before me there still are a lot of bosses that havent been seen yet like Belial and Astrogha and i think that there is a guy named Asmodeous or something like that. it could also be Imperius. i think it would be neat if Inarius comes and when you are about to wreck his plans he says that he was trying to stop Imperius and you're like "DAMN wrong angel AGAIN" and you have to stop Imperius from destroying Sanctuary while Fighting Diablo and in the end you have to team up with the demons and Inarius and Tyrael to stop Imperius in a huge fight for the fate of the world!
