my bro, my friend and i, all decided to start d2 again. we thought of each of us making a sorc that specialized in a certain element. any comments on this idea are welcome. if youd like to point me to the direction for a pure fire sorc, a pure light sorc, and a pure cold sorc builds that would be greatly appreciated. are there any flaws in this idea? were all planning to mf together and just take what we need and store extra items on a mule account. so if anyone has any suggestions or anything they would be greatly appreciated. thanks =]
lol i mean once you go into hell at least 1-2 acts will be hard to mf just because all u can do is no elemental. theres no pure arcanum spells that have no elements in d2. i would say go barbarian. a frenzy barb, cookie cutter (A.K.A. Whirlwind barb), and a Titan Concentrate barb
Dont listen to them, a barb or a necro will require alot of trading and good items so u can actually kill anything in hell.
If you play 3 sorc's each with one element you can pwn the game.
Fire sorc uses mainly fireball, just max it and its synergies. meteor does alot of dmg but its hard to hit with it.
Lightning sorc mainly uses lightning and chain lightning.
Cold sorc is either a blizz sorc or a frozen orb sorc, i would say go blizz sorc because you will have alot of elemental effects going on your screen, and frozen orb is just too much.
if they got a high lvl static field that didnt require them to go right up to the bosses im sure 3 sorcs could complete at least one of the ubers
but they prob gonna need to get their walk/run speed up as fast as possible on top of teleport xD
noone does more damage than a sorc in this game except for maybe a paladin
most of their spells do from like 600 to 2400 around the 45 lvl range (a lot of their spells hit multiple times like hydra, frozen orb, blizzard, firewall, blaze, meteor
for fire there is so much you can do but if you wanna be aggressive go for fireball (must) and meteor or fireball and hydra , or just both xD
if you wanna be defensive support kind of fire sorc go with firewalls, hydras, and meteors
Lightning sorcs rely on lightning and chain lightning but if you like to be in the enemies face a lot of the time charged bolt can work wonders too
really none of the lightning spells are bad its just they arent really good till you up the mastery =3
cold sorcs can do a ton as well just the most common are frozen orb, and blizzard
but glacial spike is an option too. cold is prob the most powerful since the mastery doesnt add damage but it lowers the enemies resistance to cold instead. so it does extra damage to anything not immune to cold
frozen orb prob does the most damage though but you gotta hit with the actual orb to do serious damage =3
you dont need the armors but if your gonna go pure cold you should be able to get at least 10 into one of the armors you want =3
sorcs cant uber... wouldnt matter if you had 8 sorcs in a game... the ubers are too resistant strong and high life for a sorc... but usually when you play you only make a one element sorc... well for duelers anyhow... if your just doing mf.... id prolly go with cold (orb and blizz) or light... and btw for cold sorcs... orb doesnt do the most dmg... blizz does... blizz can hit 17-18k if you have the proper gear... if shatty gear it still stronger than orb... and wen mfing with a light sorc... jsut put charged bolt on and go at it...

I think the three of you should put some skill points in Warmth, so your mana regenerates faster and you don't need to rely too much on potions. Use enchant in your mercenaries (I recommend defensive Act II mercenary), static field, teleport and energy shield are excellent lightning skills,frost nova, blizzard, chilling armor and frozen orb are what I recommend for ice skills. If the three of you play cooperatively you will really beat the game easilly. You should also look for some items that reduce enemies elemental resistances for better effect of the spells. 3 sorc's will rock that game.
One should go chain lightning, one blizzard, and one fireball.
Seems to be the best skills for each class, considering cast delay vs damage.
Chain lightning because of the spread, as well as the high amount of damage and high cast delay.
Fireball basically for the same reasons, could consider going meteor sorc though, if you're fine with a bit of casting delay.
Blizzard because it deals much more damage than orb, and can cover small areas effectively.
However, orb is pretty equal to this skill with enough points into it, since each ice bolt adds up to a fairly significant amount of damage.
Just make sure to have some static field, all get mana shield and teleport as well, and you guys will be fine ^^.

As soon as you guys get to hell, your going to run into a number of problems ; Immunity issues, low life issues= very squishy, and low resistances... If i were you i'd go barbs. i dont see how there will be many issues. since there are 3 of us and were all only using one element, and playing together, if there is an immunity the other two of us can take care of it. unless there one thats immune to two elements then one of us can take care of it. plus we have mercs as meat shields so it shouldnt be very difficult. and anyways were all not just making sorcs. were gonna make a number of characters so if the 3 sorcs cant handle a situation, then we'll have other characters: barbs, necros, pallys, druids, zons, sins. and one of us has already fully geared pallys and stuff from previous play.
im still open to suggestions on other combos my friends and i can make. so if you have thought of one please post it. Good Day People.

Get your facts straight.. there can't be 3 immune monsters anymore. The possibility for those was removed in 1.10.. the monsters only spawn with max 2 immunities. Anyways even if there was 3 immunes on a monster.. 3 mercs can surely kill that monster.
Ik barb can maybe solo the game in 1player game.. but no way in higher player numbers where 3 sorcs can clear everything in no time since they have all 3 elements so no immune will stop them and all their 3 main spells are really powerful since they have put all the skillpoints to boost up 1 skill.
You shouldn't have any problems with that 3 sorc team. If I could get a group of friends together that wanted to walk through the game, I'd be all over it.
If I were to pick what characters to have on board, my dream team would look something like this.
Shapeshifter druid: Decent tank ability, can summon meat shields, can provide sages wolverine or oak depending on the situation, rabies for the slow kill or fury to be like a wolf faced zealer. Go werebear if you want to use fireclaws. All around fun character to play as long as you stay away from oblivion knights. lol
MA/Trapper assassin: Excellent melee skills as well as being able to cover some elemental damages, Shadow master, mindblast, death sentry, charge up and finish em off.
Necro summoner: Meat shields and curses galore. Would provide much needed support for the other 2 characters. Lower resist to kill off the pesky highly resistant monsters, decripify to break physical immunes. Bonewalls to contain and mow down even the most badass monsters.
I wouldn't mind playing something along these lines. You could replace the assassin with a bowzon or pally and the shapeshifter for a zealer or barb. Overall the necro is the anchor of this team. The way I see it anyway. I think it would be totally cool to walk the game again without tweaking the characters at all. Play through with nothing but what you and your friends find and craft.
Speaking of which I may try to get some of my old friends together to play through again untwinked when the ladder resets. Not to try and be the top dogs on ladder. Just a fresh start without all the glitch rushers and bots.

It's definately going to work. If I could solo my way all up to Hell Ancients with one sorc, then you can definately make it with three specialized.
The biggest problem I see is probably that you'll be sharing gear. So a lot of stuff that drops will be useless, but when something good drops, only one of you can get it. It's a minor problem for a sorc team though, as you don't need as many items to deal damage or survive.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
