So im from Australia and just got into the Beta, thanks to a friend that works there!
So i was wondering if anyone from Aus have any questions or things they would like me to test!
I will be playing a little tonight, and a lot more next week.
Im going to be starting with the Wizard!
Heres my specs:
Intel Core i7 2600K Overlocked to 4.8Ghz
Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 Pro Mainboard
16Gb Kingston DDR3 1600Mhz RAM
580GTX 1280DDR5 RAM GFX
OCZ Agality 3 120GB SSD SATAIII
Thermaltake 775Watt PSU
Western Digital 1TB Black(7200RPM)
Ill be playing on a Viewsonic VX2753mh-LED and a 46" LCD Bravia TV
First off, Congrats! Hope you enjoy it, as it honestly feels alot different than Beta patch 4.
Also, there are a few of us Aussies in the Beta =) D3 also runs pretty smoothly I must say at ( 210 ping).
Holy crap your specs are crazy, If I can run D3 on high with my 1gb ATI Raedon 4800 HD at 1080p on Win XP with 3gb ram running on a 3ghz Core 2 Duo... I think alot of people should be able to play it, although it does get a lil choppy with alot and i mean alot of crap flying around the screen.
Being an Aussie myself, I can't help but wonder how the ping will affect us since D3 is going to be purely multiplayer and there aren't any Aussie servers
So here are my questions,
1) Which lucky charm are you using?
2) How well do you feel does the new system of "no ping" when attacking monsters work? And is it awkward when the fighting feels instant while opening chests and such isn't.
3) Have you tried playing with others to get a feel of how this no ping fighting system works in a multiplayer setting. For example, are you finding yourself shooting and hitting a demon, but the projectile just flops and does nothing because someone across the world killed it slightly before you?
Woohoo! Gratz. I guess they do know we exist. Can you see lag having any effects specifically in relation to hardcore Soul?
I'd say so, the biggest problem I had regarding HC was with the Demon Hunters Evasive Fire backflip bug, which completely locks you out of doing anything for 3-6 seconds which is really bad if you're playing HC(still bugs out in Beta Patch 5).
Atm though playing solo is absolutely fine. Just make sure you have a stable Internet connection and you should be sweet, I wouldn't recommend playing HC D3 wirelessly while on a train lol. Your just asking for trouble then.

1 - I believed but wasn't expecting =)
2 - At around 210 ping or less feels fine to me, you will feel it and adjust for it, that's the best you can do bar moving to the US and right next to the servers...
3 - I don't think I've seen any issues, that I know of...

Sweet thanks for the answers. Moving to the US does sound like a sweet plan!
Hey hey! so yesterday night i played my first D3 run!
i wont really go into detail how it went coz im sure everyones read a million reviews already so ill get straight into the latency issues.
PING RANGE: 200~300
Yesterday, I played Singleplayer first from about 7:30pm EST to 9:00pm EST. Overall i didnt feel any lag. Picking up items to killing monsters were pretty instant. Only towards the end, about 8:30pm, i had some small lag spikes which didnt make too much of a difference.
After that, i jumped into Multiplayer from about 9pm - 1am. At the beginning, it was much like Singleplayer with hardly any noticeable lag; even with a 4 player group. Killing monsters and picking up items were all very instant. However, it seemed as though the later i played, the more lagspikes i started to get. It was still playable and i was not too fussed about it.
However, overall in MP, i had about 10 huge lag spikes which was unrecoverable. It seems as though people could still hear me talk and i can see people walking around, but my character will fail to cast magic, or have a casting animation stuck. (electrocute and disintegrate).
Hopefully this is only because it is in beta stages and will not happen in the full game. It also wont be my PC lagging because my PC is tank.
Not trying to troll or anything but you realize that Battle.net in Diablo 3 has no latency in combat? So us Aussies can play as if we have local servers. I'm extremely surprised you didn't notice this immediately after playing the Beta.

Yea, i read already that there is no lag in combat, however, even if the combat move is calculated instantly and the monster dies instantly, there still can be slight lag for me to view it. Especially with loot dropping and loot pickup. Combat was good, that wasnt the problem, main problem were the random large lag spikes that i got.
bz0r have you heard of anyone else getting these huge lag spikes?
yeah.. its actually not to do with ping i read up.. its more of a technical issue. Channeling spells are having problems. If you hold them down for too long.. it gets stuck.. and kills the game. You wont be able to do anything while u still see people walking around and stuff. So yeah.. no lag at all..
Anyways, quick thoughts on playing it last night:
So i couldnt wait to get off work yesterday to go home to play more some since ive only finished it with the wizard. Ended up finishing the beta again with the Barb, DH and Monk in about 3 hours.
It is a very well designed game and i can see the hours of fun people are going to have playing SP and MP.. however i did realized that people who arnt in the beta isnt missing too much. I have to admit that im already getting bored of it, knowing that there is no point of finding items, and there is no drive to keep playing since its just repetitive beta and you cant lvl past 13.
Also, although it is near completion, it does still feel like a beta and there are still a heap load of technical and bugs to be found.
I guess the main thing that the beta helped me with is to lower my hype and obsession about D3 a bit so when the game finally do come out, i will be amazed again.

"Just google "diablo 3 gold guide" and magical rainbow covered demons will assault your eyes."
Sorry, Ok just won't cut it!
Have fun!

Australia is 3 timezones wide... Regardless, it's mostly desert and therefore hot

Edit: Yeah Xaviarlol, but lag can influence many other parts of the game as well.
I live in Melbourne :).
Lag issues are non existent I can play the beta just using my iPhone 3G service.
