I might have missed this, but did they release the death penalties for normal mode in D3 yet? I remember hearing some discussion about it at some point but have forgotten.
I'm quite glad there are death penalties, back when they announced that there won't be any penalties and simply running from the last checkpoint to the fight was a penalty enough in itself kind of saddened me.
I've only ever seen the 10% durability penalty so far. I'm wondering if there are steeper penalties as it gets later in the game? I doubt it's still 10% durability in inferno mode.. But i could be wrong.

lol if anything I would hope it's less, if you plan on one shotting inferno plan again =D
I was hoping for something more than that... at least having to run back to your corpse to get your stuff back or some such...
THO.... for just normal playing I'm also less inclined to make a hardcore char cause I like to play diablo very aggressively and hate dieing due to lag spikes and losing my char. I just wish there was some middle ground :/
Yea I hear ya on that, but that's just part of the risk vs reward, and as you said... there definitely has to be a better way to go about it. It feels a lot funner to me if I know I'm really risking something semisubstantial to keep pushing an area that is really difficult...
Seems like at the moment that you have the choice to risk something that might take you 2-10 min to farm (the 10% durability loss) or maybe days/several weeks (hardcore mode). With both being possibly internet dependent I'd rather not play hardcore. I think I lost maybe 3-4 hardcore characters legitimate reasons (non internet / power outages related) out of 10 or so.
Maybe gold is worth a lot more in D3 than D2 but just seems like at the moment you have lame pin prick penalties or dismembering penalties. I would like something in between I think
The death penalties in D2 normal were barely significant, but by nightmare and hell, those exp losses were actually pretty painful. By the later points of the game I'd take extra care not to die. I'm sure it will be the same for D3, and so running in recklessly in the early stages of the game (or for some, just being a bad player) won't make you suffer that much, as it should be.
I remember people discussing that in the forums a while back.
