With piracy being an enormous concern in the PC gaming industry these days, it's not unlikely that through battle.net, Blizzard might require online verification to run Diablo 3. Even though this is unlikely to cause any anger from fans of online cooperative play, in numerous other instances (like anything related to Steam and Half-Life 2 or the whole Mass Effect outburst) there have been huge protests from fans. Do you think Blizzard should include this kind of verification or not? If not, would it prevent you from buying Diablo 3?
Sure, why not- an honest person has nothing to hide.
Agreed, I don't see why fans were mad, unless it was a huge pain in the rear. If I had to enter a CD key everytime I entered I would be ticked off, but I don't mind restrictions to prevent piracy...
What if you wanted to install it on a comp w/o internet?... I think that only online play with a good cd key is best. not no game w/o online verification. I think D2 did it well.

You're kidding right? An honest person could have a lot to hide depending on the circumstances, but I digress.
In my opinion, a cd-key is more than enough. If I'm in a place where I don't have an internet connection and I want to play through the game which I've paid for then I should be able to. Why should I be punished for the actions of others? The crackers will crack the game regardless of what barriers are placed in front of them. I'm thankful to them, by the way. At least they give me an option to play the game without any bullshit attached.

You wouldn't be punished for anything, I don't understand what you're saying. If you legitimately bought the game, you should pass verification no problem. Why would they punish a paying customer who hasn't broken their EULA?
And, please don't blow questions/answers out of context, and then act condescending when you provide unneeded, random information. You know what context I meant that sentence in, because I know you're a mature and logical individual. An honest person, in context, would have no reason to fear verification if they're abiding by the EULA and the basic principle that you only get what you pay for.

He can't pass the verificantion even buying the game because he got no internet, so he can't do the online verification.
So then he should have no issue with it, since it won't affect him.
Edit:
Wow, I'm very sorry, I didn't realize what you meant. I was assuming everyone was talking about an online verification in addition to CD Key checks on login to Battle.net. Is everyone saying that it requires the internet to check if its a legit copy or the game won't run at all? If that's the case, I'm very sorry, I should have read more before I went off the hook being arrogant like that. Sorry

A cd-key is a perfectly fine way to verify if your game is legit. You don't need any additional verification to get on bnet. It's worked wonders for years and I don't think there's a need to reinvent the wheel there.
online activation wouldn't be such a deal, but a verification
verification of what?

Yeah, that only occurred to me upon my previous reply to Skywalker. We'd need more verification codes, which would basically mean just a new type of CD Key, and that would still have the same faults.
Other than that I have no idea what they might invent, but I undoubtedly think that due to the massive fanbase of Diablo, many people will want to play for free, so hackers will do their best to go around anything Blizz throws at them.
But, a major part of this game is based online. I'd bet that most people play this game online with their friends. A cd-key prevents (as far as I know) players with a pirated version from going online. Most people want to play online, so most people will have to buy the game.

CD-Keys?
Yes, why the hell not.
