Remember the unique crossbow "the needler" in D1? (note: there was no crossbow item type in D1)..
I dunno why i remembered that but i think if ever there were guns in D3, they must be rare or harder to get than most item types coz I think they are a bit out of place... um yeah, guns were out of place and hard to get sometime in history too..
Are you saying you only want melee classes like the melee version of the druid, the melee version of the paladin, the melee version of the assassin, and the barbarian?
We've speculated how it would fit, actually, quite a few times through out this massive thread, we concluded that it would be a little slower than a Crossbow to fit into a tiered kind of thing, with Bows being fast, Crossbows being slow and Hand Cannons, a most basic weapon, being slowest, though they have put weapons from hundered of years in the future into the game, so that pretty much leaves muskets, a weapon from a far future in the fray, we still believe that hand cannons would be the most likely choice.
The problem is not that the name or the content of this thread that leaves all these nonsense posts. It's the people that like diablo and have decided to come to these forums to some how contribute but lack the ability to sit down for 5 minutes and write out an extended opinion, even folks in colleges are incapable to some how contribute. These folks with their short blunt responses ought to just not come to forums, they're not going to generate interest for themselves unless they're trying to troll, which is why I wonder what most of these folks are really thinking, I mean it kind of goes with out saying to read the first freaking post before saying ANYTHING, even a 15 year old that is convinced they love Blizzard games because they own a WoW account, ought to have the ability to read, hopefully.
I updated the OP with a little more info and some more pictures by the way.
I agree with Ranim, it is possible, I dont think they will add guns and i very much hope they dont, but it is still a possiblity, it may become a quest item or something, no one noes
Even MORE compelling arguments. These two must of gone to Harvard!

Someone once said that they believe these anti-WoW people are actually obsessed with WoW as they are not able to play WoW. I am inclined to agree. But that is niether here nor there.
My oppinion is that siege cannons shall be first. I believe siege cannons will be around in D3. I can see hand cannons in D3, but it isn't the most likely of new weaponry, as there will be many new types of weapons. That is not to say that I am going to make a petition one way or the other.
My prediction:
D3-Siege Cannon
D4-Hand Cannon
I cannot see them going any more advanced past hand cannons. It is just illogical.

Nice new pictures. The last one kinda confused me at first though, but I got it after looking at it for a sec.
I like the one under the one I posted. (Off Topic: Yea, and I know it's even from the Photobucket album of "AlphaLinkX". That's me. ;D )

I agree with you to a level. I think that if Siege Cannons come into play, we'll see Hand Cannons in an Expansion pack (by the way, this may just be a flop by them, but when they mentioned future expansions and the possability of the Necromancer coming in, they said it in a way that hinted to there being multiple expansions. So with that I think that at some point guns could come into this game, but it will most definitely not be in the vanilla.)
As long as it isn't stupid looking, I guess I won't mind, although I do not like the idea. And if it goes any further than that I will seriously slit someone's throat with my disc.
$20 they won't even implement them in Diablo III, though. They have yet to show anything that would hint at it besides a small narrative in Act V in Diablo II: LoD, which as of yet was also not referenced anywhere in any interviews of any kind. And, since its a nearly entirely new design team, I'm willing to bet they even forgot about it.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, wouldn't standard mounted cannons come before hand cannons? It's only been 20 years, and they've been rebuilding after the events in Diablo II, in which whole countries were decimated to single cities. I don't think it would be an opportune time for it to be introduced.

I don't want to see them in game either really but I know it's a possibility.

Well exploding potions and Larzuk mentioning it, and then the seemingly Asian themed island. <shrugs>

I've been thinking all a long that siege cannons (mounted cannons) would come first.
There were many ships in The Black Road, but there was no mention of cannons, and from what I understand The Black Road takes place some time after the fall of Tristram. I imagine ships would be the first to adopt the cannon.
On another note, maybe it would be more awesome to have rockets instead of guns I mean they were invented first, so they probably exist somewhere in Sanctuary. OOH, how about rocket arrows? The samurai class could have sword, bow, and powder skill trees...

Remarkably the Caravels didn't come about until at least 200 years after cannons entered the battlefields of europe.
I agree with you actually, they could do primative rockets that do a stun or knock back effect, it could be a disposable item.
Explosive Arrows, I remember this being in the game. A samurai class would seem to fit into the world, as most of the asian weapons in Diablo 1 and 2 are japanese in origin. (look at the OP)

Your fist powder skills would be a simple grenade type weapon and a rocket that catches monsters on fire, second would be an explosive rocket and a very destructive land mine used for tricking monsters into a violent death. Third would be a scatter rocket mortar type thing and a poison bomb with explosion. Fourth would be a BIG rocket and a frag grenade that deals physical damage and fire damage.<<<Speculation
It would just kind of surprise me that at least 20 years after exploding potions were invented and people had exploding arrows (some crossbows came with explosive bolts) that there wouldn't be any more of a expansion upon the science and alchemy behind explosives.

I get what you mean. Rockets however would have a cooler effect than a gun I believe. With sparkly trails and unique explosions and such

Didn't Larzuk had dreams of making cannons?
not at all.

I am pretty sure DIV would not exist, though. >>

No world was like that until they were invented.
Well, never before in Diablo was there a seperate leg armour slot, but you apaprently accepted that without screaming "WOW INVASION"...

Or city walls...
Also, what about explosive javalins? Precurser to the idea that you are talking about...
