They could make it so it doesn't shoot balls, it could be a handcannon that fires those potions, or a version of the potions that goes further and more directly.
I thought about that also.
Like a alchemist class with a potion launcher.
The potion bottles could be thick and metal plated on the bottom so that they don't shatter on ignition.
These crossbows required you to put the bolt in and usually either had a foot hold in order to pull the string back or a crank
Indeed. You didnt just pull it back like bows today. Hell, bows of that era wern't like today either!

Anyway why couldn't the bullets have magic properties also?
I was thinking more along the lines of the guns having the magic properties, similar to D2's bows and crossbows with saphires and rubies in them...

its kinda expensive stuff u sure u can afford it?:offtopic: i thought the catapult was a good idea :(..
How much is it? Lol!

But will anyone use it? I think not.
The reason I think they made throwing potions is for protection for someone who has no fighting experience.
Its just not practical.
Like the basic clubs you find in the begining of the game you mean? (Again, changed to a darker color so that it can be seen on tan.)
I think people would like it. The people that wouldn't are too busy not playing because of the color to not play because of the guns. Lol...
Exactly. Just because a weapon has been simplified doesn't mean it's not usable for warriors. (Modern day example: The AK47, takes a few hours to learn it, opposed to the M16A3, taking weeks to learn.)
I would expect hand cannons to be used in a similar fashion to bows with amazons though...
Those arguing against advanced technologies of guns, rifling, wheellock, flintlock or whatever, it just occured to me:
How come no one is bothered by an automated flame thrower on a turret that is currently in D2 in the form of Wake of Inferno?
If they can create some form of turret which can swivel, either via remote control or actually having its own targetting system, and then shoot variously a flammable liquid or lightning, I'm sure hand cannons (or a slightly more advanced version) are acceptable?
wait wait wait. STOP.
Wake of inferno is a spell right? There are no "turrets" in D2. like just wow... Someone tell me this guy is not seriously serious lol?

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
I imagine it's for the countless times shelledfade came into the thread and other threads just to say "LAWLERSKATES! What a useless thread! Stupid idea, completely dumb." and following that up with something like "Go play Hellgate London or Call of Duty."
Without giving a real good reason as to why.
I don't want guns in the game but I'm not going to deny the fact that Sanctuary is around the time period explosives should start showing up more.
Having "Shelledfade, shut up." in my signature saves me the time of having to type it in every post I have. Much easier that way.
Back on topic, explosives are already around, as you can see from the exploding potions. They obviously understand different amounts as too much or too little in the bottles would make it unstable. It makes sense that it would be a logical step. Perhaps not directly to handcannons, but rather siege cannons, then hand cannons.
Absolutely no guns, ever ever ever. It is possible, but not practical. The reload animation would be too... well... retarded. he gets out his powder and balls...

They don't show the animations for loading the crossbow/bow do they?

Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
You answered your own statement.
Sure hand cannons could be used by semi untrained civilians also.
Indeed. You didnt just pull it back like bows today. Hell, bows of that era wern't like today either!

They were STILL a weapon in the game...
Just because it can be used by a semi trained person doesn't mean they HAVE to use it.
Someone can pick up a sword and start hacking at things too, does that mean it's only for civilians?
I would expect hand cannons to be used in a similar fashion to bows with amazons though...

its a trap containing a magical spell because the assassin cant harness the magical prowess to make a real spell like a sorcerer..
Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
gamma11 > east
I don't think they will do that for marketing reasons but I think technologically it's possible they could have them by now if not very close.
But if they were seriously doing it, I would expect cannons in D3 and handcannons in D4.
