They already said they are making acts for diablo 3. Don't expect to be able to travel from one location to the next purely by foot.
As such. Most of diablos world will most likely not even be in diablo 3.
Remember. Diablo 3 is going to be story-driven now. If something is trivial and not beneficial to the story at hand... It most likely wont even be in the game either.
These facts sadden me a lot considering how cool some of the art work is... But thats what happens in the gaming industry. There's a point where you have to stop adding content and move on. But I agree with the people saying its lame.

I would like to see a Chat trade feature where you could link your item through the chat like you can in WoW. Possibly an auction house type of system, or a bartering+auction house combination of the two, So instead of just trading for gold, you could post your suggested item that you want to trade with a list of other items that you would trade for it as well. Like listing specific named items, or asking for "a really nice bow" And whoever saw that could post there bow up for trade for your item, and you could either deny/accept. I think that would bring hours and hours of awesome trading to the game without any hassles really. Maybe also you could do a combination of the two if gold will be more valuable this time around. Like 500g plus this item for your bow, ect.ect like runes+gems+gold or whatever. The possibilities would be endless with this type of system and I think it would just be really fantastic. I mean I get giddy just thinking about it.
PvP:
Please no arena. I Don't like to say that it broke WoW but it kind of did, if there is some sort of battleground-type of pvp for diablo 3 that would be very very cool, but please, no arena. If there is PvP Make it in a open world, (aka no arena-type restrictions). Please leave out skills like "fear" or "mass confuse"..ect..ect for pvp battles, those skills are just way to over-powered especially in a diablo 3 universe with no cooldown restrictions and I cant even imagine diablo 3 WITH long cooldowns.
As for seperate grounds for pvp only I think it could work out if the right things were added to it. If there IS a seperate mode for pvp I think it would be much better if it offered more players than pve mode, like 16 instead of 8. I'm fine with a battleground type of area as long as you were rewarded for playing in it. Like special item vendors that you unlocked by doing things in pve and pvp combined or vise-versa or cool visual affects like armor changing shape/color, unlockables, socket item vendor unlocks, name-able item unlocks, anything like that to make pvp more in-depth and rewarding would be great i think. If battleground type of pvp was introduced I think it would be cool if it was 16 players with 8on8 instead of 8 ffa or 4v4. Possibly have optional different game modes like team deathmatch or capture the flag, ect..,ect. But if this was introduced to a regulare ladder ( like not having a pvp realm to select) I think it would be good if you made it so you had to do PvE things to make them unlockable as well, otherwise everyone would just probably do this stuff instead of pve'ing.
Also could there please be a list of people you killed this time instead of ears? Like a list you could just open with a click or hotkey to see who you have killed? Or maybe have a single ear in your inventory, then clicking on that to open the list of ears you have collected or something. I think that would be much better.
Also maybe having unlockable name titles this time around would be cool and being able to change those names you have unlocked with a list you click to open or something would be really nice as well. -

If you want art go to a %&^#ing art museum for christ sake. You say it looks like warcraft games and isn't the separated diablo franchise anymore. YOU'RE WRONG because it's not the art that made diablo what it was. It was the gameplay and the fact that it's not MMO like WoW and GW and those type of games. It's unique GAMEplay is what makes it unique and that wont change very much thank you stop complaining about fancy arts and graphics. D2 is 2-D and I play it, I don't need better gfx
People keep saying that its the gameplay thats important. So if the game really looked like something from pokemon and pokemon was actually made by blizzard, you would not complain? Right. that makes a lot of sense. rofl.
The fact is it looks a lot like WoW. When it could look a lot better with it staying in its own territory and not copy/pasting from WoW. WoW is a great game, but its visuals are very corny after awhile.
And why should it be corny, when it can be great?
Oh, and i still play D2/lod as well. And it looks nothing like warcraft. -
Aug 18, 2008shelledfade posted a message on Bill Roper Shares Diablo III ThoughtsWell after reading that article I'm glad I never bought hellgate london lol. Looks like they just did not have enough money.Posted in: News
Bill roper seemed very well aware that the art style was very different for diablo 3 than in 1 or 2. He seemed to skip around if he actually liked it or not by saying "its different", but I guess that's just him being nice :P.
I am one of the people though that will never give up hopes for the art style changing though, even if its just a small change (i'd take anything over what they have now). I mean they purposely showed that specific trailer for what they were going to be making for D3 and it missed my expectations by about a mile.
Blizzard should consider hiring him for art director for diablo 3 lol.
Hell... hire anyone please, just take this version of diablo 3 and make it much more less like WoW and the warcraft chain in general. It needs to be more realistic and better graphics... I mean thats what diablo 2 was attempting to do and thats what seperated them from the other blizzard franchises.
Please make it better someone! I really really dont want to play WoW 1.5. I'll buy it and play it anyway... but that doesnt mean a piece of me wont be left behind with the real diablo franchise. -
Aug 15, 2008shelledfade posted a message on MTV - ‘Diablo III’ Designer Describes How Game Will Appeal To ‘Diablo’ Fans And BroadOkay the concept is not bad for the idea in general on health globes. But the name "health globes" has to go. The visual "floating red orb" has to go. Better name and a better visual to go with the name please I beg you. It is so... how can I describe it. Its like eating pizza at a bad middle school or high school, it tastes like cardboard. That's how I feel about the Name and visual aspect of these red floating health globes... only way I can describe it. It's just so... cookie cutter?Posted in: News
As for the concept in general it sounds better than spamming pots and promotes team gameplay. They said that the orbs will heal everyone in your party so that promotes team gameplay so people can stick together instead of running off all over the place in confused mayhem. Not only that but it brings challenging PvE gameplay to the mix. they have. The entire idea behind this is its just a big promotion for team gameplay and thats a big  for me. But as i've said in blue writing at the top, what they have now just doesn't do it for me. Cardboard cookie cutter... yea, that just aint my slice of pie. -

Aug 8, 2008shelledfade posted a message on Diablo 3 Art Director ResignsFirst of all people, retiring is different than quitting a job. You cannot work in the same field if you retire from it. If he quit then its either because hes sick of the art style or people there, or he is joining a new company. If he retired then hes done, plain and simple.Posted in: News
The interesting fact remains though that the job is open, and I am very suprised why someone INSIDE blizzard has not been promoted to it, and that they are hiring and outside source for such a big job. Whoever gets it though, hopefully they can make diablo 3 better than what they showed us so far. -
Aug 8, 2008shelledfade posted a message on Jay Wilson on Art Direction @ KotakuOk, Jay wilson is just a designer. Who gives a flip what his opinion is or his fellow WoW designers. Art director just opened and art designers dont tell the art director what to do, its the opposite. So what it really looks like is the art director wanted a change, Jay and his buddies got pissed, and probably said fuck you we're not doing this differently AGAIN. So the art director probably quit or he just retired // quit for his own reasons. A new one is coming, maybe the new guy can whip these WoW designers back into shape so they can fix the game up a bit. Thats what I hope for at least. So Jay and his opinion does not really count in the long run.Posted in: News

Aug 8, 2008shelledfade posted a message on Diablo 3 Art Director ResignsDamn I thought jay wilson was the art director for some reason lol. Crap. But art directing is a BIG job regardless of who is doing it. Their the people that say, no I dont like that, or, Yes thats great. The interesting thing is, they cant tell this person that the art is going to stay the way it is or not. Because they are just designers, AKA Wilson is just a designer, he could be fired for saying something like that to an art director. So I guess this guy retired, Does not look like he quit because of the petition but who knows what this guys reasons are, he could be fed up with the art style period regardless of petitions or a higher-up could have aggrivated him, or hes going to make his own company, ect.ect. Point is... Art director is a big job, designers dont tell them what to do, its the opposite. So I hope whoever gets hired Whips these WoW designers in shape and fix the game up some.Posted in: News

Aug 8, 2008shelledfade posted a message on Secret Cow Level To Return in Diablo 3I don't think this is going to make it into diablo 3, if it does it will be something new. Has anyone heard Bashiok replying to this on the battle.net forum? When he talked about it he almost sounded pissed about the entire cow level in the first place. His reasons are good also.Posted in: News

QUOTE
Yeah, who doesn't like fighting cows running around with halberds?
I disliked the secret cow level from a design standpoint though. It actually angered me that it existed at one point, maybe it kind of still does.
I'm not a designer, at all, but in my opinion and from a design standpoint I think the secret cow level was a failure. For a long time it was one of the most lucrative ways to level, and one of the best places to MF. For an easter egg, something fun and whimsical, to overshadow the entire rest of the game was a huge problem, and one that existed for far too long. It was a fun idea, a cool nod to the rumors that spawned it, but in execution it was just... game breaking in some ways.
Q u o t e:
Well of course, everyone wants everything made easier for them, and that's effectively what it was. This barrel of fish that not only acted as cheesy way to pull the slot machine lever, but almost rendered the rest of the game unnecessary.
See i thought the opposite. I was actually angry when they made it a less than lucrative place to MF/XP.
The oversight, I believe, existed in the requirement for the current difficulty to be beaten as well as the Cow King kill. It's easy enough to avoid the King or just have the level opened by other characters, and I can only guess that the amount of replay potential of the actual game was extremely undervalued.
Q u o t e:
Because you're playing a game, and it should be respected that you're playing that game. The cow level was not part of the game, it was an easter egg that made leveling and item finding far easier than the actual game. I'm inclined to almost call it cheating.
We are going to be grinding monsters to get loot and xp, so why does it really matter where we do it?
I'd have to agree with him here. on all points.

Look for bashioks answer.
Seems like the Linked thread was deleted on the b.net diablo 3 forums due to too many troll posts. However I swear to its authenticity that bashiok said this about the shields for the skeletons.

My biggest gripes would have to be the following:
1. Big health bars for every enemy. They should be somewhere else besides ontop of your character, like at the top of your screen like boss fights or on the side somewhere.
2. DPS numbers when hitting things, i like it but they need to be MUCH smaller.
3. For the love of all that is diablo... get this goddamn DARK CULTIST undead warlock/mage from WoW OUT OF HERE!!!! http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/bestiary/darkcultists.xml same exact casting animations from WoW undead TOO WTF get that crap outa here NOW!
4. One of my biggest issues is the glow affects on the weapons. I mean those were just way to big. There shouldn't even be glow affects because its totally a turn off for pvp letting your enemies know what kind of buffs yur weapons have. Not only that they just look bad. I mean the fire glow was awesome because it looked like fire! the ice enchant literally needs to be like a clear sheen on the weapon so its harder to see and actually looks like its frozen... and the lightning needs to be small static bursts or something or lightning flickers now and then... not giant glow affects that make you want to hurl. Change it or get rid of it plz.
5. Hammer of ancients skill for barbarian. I don't know what the F that is even supposed to be. It should be called Strike of ancients or something and the spell affect should be a AXE. SWORD. MACE or whatever weapon your using, ( a static weapon texture of each item class) So if your using a sword and use the skill you get a sword spell affect or if yur using a axe you get a axe spell affect. I mean if hammer of ancients skill is paladin k thx. I mean your summoning a MAGICAL HAMMER... and your a barbarian? What the F? THEY GOT PALADINS FOR THAT, BARB IS NOT A MAGE!
6. Glow affect on skeletons shields, I dont understand why its there. Is it supposed to help some disfunctional child from seeing a shield and knowing that it can block things? I mean wtf was that crap. Its goofy. It woulda been way cooler if they were using big awesome looking metal shields not... glass-like glowing clown shields... wtf was that ? Maybe we could just throw a rainbow over those shields and complete the transformation from diablo 3 to barney and friends... Oh snap... they already did that!
"huff... huff"... Ok... the rampage is over... Sorry if it offends anyone but those really are my biggest gripes with d3 at the moment.

not really nitpicky, considering you are looking at it 24/7 while playing the game. It is a big deal to me, considering I'll be looking at it, as everyone else will be also that thinks its annoying. If you dont like the thread then don't post in it ...
