I don't care when people have opinions, I only care when they have stupid ones with no relevant points to back it up. /shrug
But yeah, beat the game yesterday. And now I cannot wait for ME3 ... hopefully some DLC will tide me over for two more years, lol.
But I think one aspect is really underrated by a lot. This game truly is revolutionary in how it's story transmutes into the next game. There are a mind boggling amount of references, conversations, and even quests that come in accordance to what you did in ME1 and the decisions you made. It's the only game I've ever played where I've actually thought hard about what i was going to do because of how it's going to affect my experience in the next game.
For instance, even on the ending (no spoilers here for anyone that hasn't beaten it) you can either have everyone survive, everyone die (even Shepard), or have two, three, four, five, six, seven, etc people die (could be anyone, it's never a specific person if you have x number die). These outcomes are all based on your actions and decisions throughout the game. There's just so many options.

I actually really like it. The old weapons system was too redundant. You constantly found new weapons that there was nothing exciting about it. And you are frequently comparing weapons to see which ones where the best until you just eventually got your entire squad the Spectre weapons. But in ME2 each squad member can only carry two guns which makes more sense cause in the first ME even though they could carry all of them, they really could only train in two. So this even makes selecting your squad for each mission more meaningful. So for example, I got some pretty decent biotic skills under my belt, so when I go in on a mission, I may want Garrus for his sniping ability if we're trying to take a heavily fortified area, and then have Mordin with his tech abilities to compliment my biotics. I mean, however you wanna describe the process, basically the devs wanted you to carefully consider how you select your squad because depending on what types of enemies you're fighting and what the mission's goals are, it can really make a difference who you bring along. I was actually relieved to finally get Tali as an option last night because my squad was really lacking in overall tech prowess. Now I'm gonna go back and fight those three heavy mechs guarding that stash.
I guess I'm used to the standard RPG where you are able to find AND buy your own weapons and armor. If they had made it so you could BUY some decent weapons, but made it so you could only FIND truly amazing ones, I would be satisfied.
I never see the point in bringing pure biotic/tech squad mates, the recharge times make it seem less efficient than gunning the bastards down, to me. I almost always bring Garrus and Thane or Grunt, turians are just too badass to be left behind. Thane's sniping seems to be a bit better than Garrus', but he uses assault rifles, as well. He's also turian.

Oh, I love it! At first I was like, "Eh..." But now I'm like, "Eh, yes!" I love how each class to has a skill that is exclusive to that class. I'm a Vanguard and the charge skill is so amazing. But what's cool about it is how it's a tactical skill. You can't just use it without any consideration. Cause if you fly across the screen and strike your enemy, and there are other enemies around that one, suddenly you have no cover and you're totally exposed. Yet at times it's worth taking the risk because maybe I'll knock one guy down or kill him, then just blast the other guy real quickly with my hand canon.
Taking cover is critical most of the time. At first I found this a tad annoying cause my shields seemed so weak, but here's what I decided I like about it now: you can die fast in this game, but just as quickly can you kill most other things. Most people understand this in the game except for the mechs. But the mechs don't usually care cause they got a ton of shields and armor with limited intelligence.
I think one thing I'm disappointed in so far are the power weapons. Though I believed when they were designing them they didn't necessarily want there to be a single power weapon that could just magically solve all your problems. But ammo for them is seriously limited so I was hoping that with how limited it was that they would do more. I mean, the missile launcher for example is weak sauce. And the grenade launcher, total crap in my opinion. I love the Collector beam though. The flame thrower is pretty decent too when fighting a lot of organics.
Oh, I love the Collector beam, too.
I also tried a few classes before I actually got going in the game. The first was the Adept, I thought having all those powers would be awesome, but the 6+ second recharge times on a lot of them made me rethink. I tried the Vanguard next. The biotic charge was awesome, but I found I was missing any sort of long range combat, I also ended up always using the charge at the wrong times. It looks like there's one guy left.... then there's a squad of krogan and mercs around the corner already shooting at me. I ended up with the Infiltrator, and I love it. The cloaking is infinitely useful to me, I love using sniper rifles, as well. If I knew there was a way to train other classes in different weapons earlier in the game I definitely would have gone with something else, but it seems you can't get training until you board the Collector ship. The choices made me a bit mad. I could choose shotgun or assault rifle training, or a kickass new sniper. I picked the assault rifle training and just wished I could get the sniper, too. :/

In that case.. I think Miranda's gonna die. I sort of pissed her off a little bit.

I'm not sure how I spoiled anything at all. Part of the whole marketing ploy for this game was that your Shepard and others can die at the end. It's common knowledge.

You never got the Cain did you? That gun fucking rocks!!! It is totally a battle ender. I'm not going to spoil it for ya, but when you can get it, get it and use it. But yeah ammo should have been more plentiful, especially for the big weapons.
I'm going to start my second time through the game right now, and hopefully that will change for the next difficulty.
I love this game!! Possibly the best game I've ever played. Kicks Dragon Age's ass. And sorry to say it, but kicks DII's ass too.
Not too shabby, if I do say so. This game, that is. I have this thing against sci-fi, so I have to put it down for an hour or so every once in a while and pick it back up, but I do enjoy it.
Well you heard it from the hamster master. It's a good game.
I'm on my 3rd go around imported from ME1. This time I'm an Adept, and I'm gonna try to stay away from renegade if I can. I dunno though, its hard.
