Wanting a gear switching button means you want to equip your best DPS/defense gear, lower an enemies health to 5% or lower, and equip extremely meaningless and poor items that happen to have high MF for the killing of the enemy.
That's f*cking lame. This would remove the entire idea of trying to build a nice MF set with minimal DPS/defense loss.
Is that what you losers want? No set of MF gear with minimal DPS/defense loss? You don't want to have a whole new and fun theorycrafting strategy to work on?
It's not a bad strategy, nor should it be frowned upon as cheating, it's just...what it is. But having a button to accommodate it seems a bit far-fetched.
I've always thought if they don't change how it's working currently they should just supply us with that sort of option. Thankfully they do see how much of a broken system it is though and they're going to do something about it.
I wouldn't mind to see a tab unlike a costume paper doll of your hero which you can load up with MF gear and get a certain % or rather all MF put towards your cap. Could also tie into a MF reset to 0% (or just nef-valor stack 75%) if any gear is changed on your main set to stop gear swapping during fights. But then again this Tab could be used for many different ideas

I agree with op, it is really really lame.
MF should be a hard decision, not a cheap vendor gear that you put on right before the monster is about to die.
Protip: MF gear works on more than just bosses and champion/rare packs.

+1 for the vendor comment.
MF swapping is bad gamedesign, Anyone who does not see it... well let's just leave it at no comment.
But it worked quite well in D2 for over 8 years... gtfo

Lets see if I can help, it was called "Weapon Swap".
Meaning, your WEAPONS/SHIELD, not YOUR ENTIRE GEARSET.
It is a stupid idea and I don't want to carry around a full set of gear in my already limited bags just for this. People should have to choose between magic find for more items or better gear for more survivability and dps, not just get everything with a press of a button. Ridiculous, and I actually laughed out loud when I saw it was the most popular choice on that poll... But after reading these forums for a while, then again it doesn't surprise me that much anymore.
Yeah, these "But in Diablo 2" comments make me laugh. Tell me when Diablo 2 had auction house and milions of players online...
Also, as soon as the button is invented, every single piece of gear without 20% of MF is going to have a dead stat on it.
Personally, I'd love a cooldown on gear swapping unless in town, preety much the same way as skills swapping works. It would kill gear swaps on Diablo and elite packs, which is what is needed to be done.
Whats even funnier is it WASNT in D2, D2 had weapon swap, not full gearset swap.
Its like these guys never actually played D2. (and no one is surprised)
one of the options is a cap. d2 had a cap sort of. it was easy enough to hit 300ish and that was perfectly fine for me so i never bothered swapping.
d3 swapping may work, but i think swappers are missing out on a lot of drops by doing it. i've found hundreds of rares by now from normal monsters and even a handful of sets and legendaries.
integrating a little mf into your regular gear set is a good idea regardless of what they do
It worked extremely well in D2 why change a proven method?
This is rly tired.... everybody who wants tell this point, so never play high-end or battle net d2.... NEVER
You didnt switch gear, because items like occu, shako etc had so much mf and other good stats. If you want kill pindleskin you can kill it also with 500 mf gear. Best mf to kill andy and meph or other bosses was 300-350 %. In second slots (W) you had call to arms rune word.... So tell me where did you switch mf gear in d2?????
And ladies and gentlemen, an example of someone who has actually PLAYED D2.
Adding a secondary gear set is for more then just MF first of all.
It could be a added benefit for Tank classes to swap between Tank/DPS (or even so far as certain resists sets if your not a monk).
To the MF debate, I see nothing wrong with swapping a high MF set for the kill. Its not like its a walk in the park and you can just pick up any blue off the street and do it. Swap into a zero resistance set in Ponyland and watch yourself get freaking wrecked in record time from any pool/etc.. invalidating the entire fight since by the time you get back the mob is 100% health. (Unless you drag it back to the portal, which is another stupid thing.. dont let elites reset so fast since all it does is make us drag it back for safety reasons)
It's great that some of you have decent gear with MF on, and are probably doing pretty good in Inferno now that its been nerfed into oblivion, but some of us were doing it prenerf and have 100-200 million in gear. This isnt a MMO, wholesale changing the entire way MF works at this point in time is idiotic.
Not entirely sure why they want to treat it as WoW in Demon land, but it wont last them very long once Torchlight 2 comes out.

Agreed. It's an absolutely lame desire from the "cheat code" crowd. Figure out how to MF with viable gear you nimrods and stop making inane requests of Blizzard. There are far better fixes and options for them to implement.

So true, i really hope they don't implement a switch button.
I like how basically the only argument supporting a gear swap button is 'it was in D2, so it should be in D3'. And even then, it actually wasn't in D2 (was just the weapon swap), so...
D3 has taken all it needs to from D2. Anything else it has improved on. Compared to D3, D2 is utter garbage. Taking stuff from D2 just because it was in D2 is a really, REALLY bad designing process.

Super hard to tell the difference, I know.

He's right. It pretty much makes you a doucher if you think that should be an intended game mechanic.

I would like a weapon/off-hand switch like we had in D2. It would be nice to switch my dual-wield Monk over to a shield for certain encounters.
But to switch out all gear is a simple minded short-cut to effort and thought.
