Worst post ever, such shitty news and stupid regressive changes. Now we have to wait for them to re-balance the entire game and we know for sure they still haven't made a decision on runes/skills.
I was reffering to them having to balance stat affixes...
Obviously these stat changes are one of the bigger systems changes we're currently working on as they have far reaching requirements to re-itemize and balance the game.
<--- quote from jay in his article about re balancing, dunno how to make it a blue quote.

umm all changes are done...
Skills and runes arent, only minor stuff is.
refering to the rebalancing stuff due to what was in the article, not the runes, I just didnt want to cut his sentience in half.

The changes they listed are arguably larger than skills and runes.
Frankly, I didn't expect such large and sweeping changes to the game. It's more proof that the Korean RMAH had nothing to do with the delay.
Read Bashiok's entire post; he just echoes what I've been saying. Most of this was probably completed a long time ago.. the Jay Wilson post is just to show that "something is being done". But it's all just minor stuff, meaning that there's something else delaying the game.
Well, he didn't say these changes were done months ago. He only said they are completed at present and implemented in game, meaning they are ready to talk about them. This also means they are working on other stuff at present, perhaps larger additions and changes.

They scrapped and redid the entire item system? They rebalanced all of the monsters? Oh, and they haven't even talked about skills/runes.

I was refering to the article, stat changes from the items. I know what he said in the blue post but they also said at blizzcon crap like that is an XML sheet, takes NO TIME.
All of these changes in the article have been in the game for awhile. The Beta builds we've been getting are old, outdated builds just to keep people happy that there's even a beta at all. We are still unaware of what's delaying the game. It probably was Korea or it could be the Rune system. The Mythic artisan will be back in the expansion no doubt. I did like the CoJ and Nephalim Cube so I don't understand why these were removed. I really really hope we get an announcement of a release date before the Activision Blizzard conference call and I hope we get the game before the summer, if not then I won't be buying this game.
I'm a lot more worried about runes that they say they are working on for like a year and still have nothing definitive to show.
I agree that runes are the key to the release date.
As well as the checkpoint system in combination with the ability to redo quests over and over. That is the single most exploited feature in the beta currently and will be very hard to control. They should just remove checkpoints completely now that we have townportals in combination with waypoints.
that quest thing really isnt an issue, there are lots of easy fixes. plus it wont even matter at 60 much.
The rune system is what im dying to know about atm....
There is something Id like to know about the cauldron cube thing. I wonder if the purpose is to slow down progression to force tping back to town now and then. Is it a genuine change because for some reason they think its more fun (I like how blizzard is always telling us what is fun) or is it a change because the game is a bit short otherwise ?

I hope so. But if we transpose the current concept even to level 60, you could still "save a character" just after the last checkpoint prior to (for example) Diablo, -> invite a friend -> friend ports to you -> you leave game & create new one while your buddy kills Diablo -> games loads you to last checkpoint right before Diablo -> friend joins game -> etc....
That would be 1000x more efficient than running dungeons looking for random elite spawns. And I thought blizzard wanted to avoid boss farming.
About this, I think Blizzard is aware and will fix it somehow. But since its the same exploit for all quests I don't see that taking them a lot of time, on fix may fix it all.
With the Nephalem Cube seeing a white item drop was exciting. I could salvage it and progress towards using the parts to craft a new item. Constant progression. Inventory space. It was fun and efficient.
Without it seeing a white item drop is anti-climactic. It's junk to leave behind. It offers me no progression. And if I accidentally click the item while in battle it's a headache to pull and drop it from my inventory. And most of the game will play out like this. Anti-climactic drops and tedium of removing things from my inventory.
And this is supposed to make me more excited when a good item drops? I'm telling you now: It won't. It will make me feel like I'm sifting through a sea of junk rather than progressing. It won't be a better feeling when a good item drops, just a sigh of relief from the repetitive nature of the game.
FINALY just this very second, got to read the damn thing haha... anyway my thoughts.
The Cauldron of Jordan and Nephalem Cube have been removed.
Oh wow...not sure what I think about this at all. They had a logic, which i agreed and defended. "Keep the Action Going" What happend to this? Now when we are in inferno, where it is going to be HARD. If there are 4 players in the game (aka monsters tuned to 4 players) 3 manning is going to be HARD (if not impossible? ok maybe just hard) but.. now if someones inventory gets full (which it will happen) we have to wait for them... I DONT like this
HOWEVER, I love the idea of making the town more towny... Though it may sound dumb.. I liked hanging out in the town in d2..and this brings that back a bit..so...
VERDICT: Neutral
This is what I'm not understanding. They went from wanting you to spend very little time in town, to be out killing demons 24/7, to now they want us to spend extra time in town because it's a "nice" change? Now I have to make constant trips to the blacksmith to use the nephalem cube???
You'll only have to visit town frequently if you have OCD and pick up every white and grey item to sell to the merchant for 5 gold each. It will take a very long time to fill your inventory up with blue items.
I really think that Blizzard shot themselves in the foot with these changes... Makes me wonder after seeing the uproar it has caused if they might back off from what they are moving towards (not likely). If I was a Blizzard boss man I would really start thinking about the stability of whats being done... the public is in an a frenzy Bnet shut down for crying out loud. All would have been well if the announcement of the game as a whole wan't released so early. Two years ago we found out about this game, now we are looking at even more waiting. I've been patient, a good game requires work it has (imo) gotten out of control with the delays. Don't release major information if you are not on the way to finalization.
Polishing stage my ***. I wouldn't care so much if I at least had access to the beta, but they won't even give that out except to 500 people out of millions.
I like how all this article did was say they REMOVED stuff with takes no time at all and yet in the same article say they're NO WHERE NEAR release.
Everything in the article mentioned in already done, because it's just a simple removal of features.
However, if you read "In addition we’re working on major changes to the skill and rune systems that we’re not ready to talk about, but I promise you we can’t possibly ship without a finished skill and rune system. :)"
This is pretty much saying that we won't be seeing Diablo 3 for a long while. How they still haven't got the skill and rune system designed yet is beyond me. Game has been in development way to long already for the amount of money this company can spend on talented staff.
