I'm just saying that "contributing member" should be the only criteria for this competition. I dont really want to win, cause I dont play WoW, but I can think of a few people that deserve recognition for their contributions in the past. I have a firm belief that our past contributions were taken into consideration by the Diablo 3 design team, and that if it weren't for our constant presence, Diablo 3 my have never come to fruition.
That being said, I doubt someone with less than 100 posts will win.
Well first off, (And though I think my contribution is valid, not saying this because I think its the best or anything, just stating this.) If the contest is based on creative suggestions, then the most creative or innovative etc should win. If it is random, well hell thats just chance. If its based on if they use them, well thats up to the developers.
As for your firm belief on contributions taken into consideration, thats cool if they were, though I hope they were valid, but I know that Blizzard does things right and has their plans, and always gets their games to the highest standards.
Also, Blizzard responds to fans, and overall wants and needs, and would not do something that everyone would dislike and is not for theirs or our best interests.
Blizzard, does also do what they want and have their own ideas. Especially for the fact that the diablo story arc is not completed and they want to complete that with the game, which is to say they were planning on doing diablo 3. And of course working on it.
But to say Diablo 3 may never have come to fruition if you or other forum posters hadn't said anything. That is the biggest bull I have ever heard. The biggest. And only proves your own egotistical megalomania. Biggest amount of bull I've ever heard. Wow. Wow. Made my jaw drop at that insanity.
If you are a lurker, you dont deserve shit. Lurkers just creep me out. Its like being watched through a one way mirror. People that have actually contributed to the site deserve it, creepy people that lurk in the shadows dont, simple as that:P
What's wrong with lurking? One way mirror? People post things to be read, if you don't want people reading your shit, don't post it. Blizzard doesn't really give a shit if you have 3000 or 1 post. They care about the idea. If the idea is brilliant, hell, give the 1 poster the reward he deserves. As nicholas said just because you have 3000 post doesn't mean you are a Diablo fan, it means you are an active forum poster.
By the way: Don't think your the forum bad-ass just because you have 3000 posts. Nuff said.
The way I understood it, they're closing the entire thread on the 25th and sending all the posts to Blizzard, who will then sift through them and select the 20 most interesting ideas.
@ The "one poster" hating, that's stupid. I've been reading this site ever since D3, but I hadn't felt the need to post until, yes, you threw a contest. I don't think people who have 130, 500, or even a thousand posts 'deserve' to win just because they were here, if they can't think of anything good. Seriously, how many posts are there right now that go "give titles if we win in pvp", hmm, WoW anyone? You think they haven't thought of that idea themselves?
<hopes I win just for not having a copycat/suckup/retro idea>
Well, thanks sammyly02 and arkeband, glad you guys got the same idea, and backed it up.
On another note, what do you guys think of my post, just for the hell of it?
"This is a lore/storyline interface suggestion.
Throughout Diablo and Diablo II, I always loved hearing the different NPC's talk, and tell me something new. Diablo II improved on this with being able to click NPC's to talk, to hear about new and past quests.
My suggestion is that in Diablo III, there is some sort of Lore/Storyline interface that could do two things:
One: As quests are found and completed, or new areas are discovered, (along with possibily just footnotes and different lore wanted by the developers to be added in with no specific place to add it) there could be a screen page by page depicting the story as if it was a book. Now yes I know there is Cain's journal, but something that would be in game, and either from the characters point of view, or just from a complete overview. (I favor the overview of all sides, rather than someone specific) This would be like the storylines in the Diablo II/Warcraft III Manuals, just as the game progresses, and the actual games storyline. That would please a lot of people I believe, as well as press on the story from the developers to the community. Not to mention a place for developers to enter in lore, with no specific place to put it in, without coming up with a pointless NPC or anything to explain it.
Two: Very simple, be able to listen to all NPC talk at any point, instead of always just running to the NPC, Not for hearing new quests, but just to refer back to what they said. Or for listening sake."
For the record, I just want the WotLK beta key. A Tyreal would be great, but if asking for just the beta key increases my chances (if someone just wants the Tyreal, and doesn't want the beta key), I'd go for that.
By the way, great site I've been lurking on the front page since Diablo III was announced, keeping up to date with Diablo III news through you guys
I'd like to see character customization. Blizzard really fails at this in all of its games thus far. D2 was the worst for making your hero unique, WoW got better, but I'd like to see them really blow it away.
To tell the truth I am just glad blizzard is listening to the input of people who really have loved the series. If I see some of the stuff I suggested that would be cool, if not knowing blizzard its because they have a better or more unique way of doing something. Been playing there games since Lost Vikings and never been let down.
At the peeps that said only contributors from the past should win I understand what you are saying but there have been many of us that have been visiting the old site for a long time, and until Diablo 3 was announced some of us really havent had much to say. Lets just remeber we are all here because one way or another a game has brought us.
I wonder when people will be notified if they won? And I hope we get to read the winning suggestions. If they are picked by Blizzard it shows some insight into the direction they would like to go.
I don't understand why people who don't play WoW participated (it's Ok if you're getting the key for a friend but why if you don't even know anyone who played)?
Anyway it's about damn time I enter a beta early for once. It's a great experience to be able to learn some raid tactics before the actual launch.
That Tyrael pet seems sick too!
Anyway, to those bastards who wanted to win and sell their keys/pets: In case I don't win, how much? :3

That's easy, to give ideas, maybe they want to sell the code,
I'll be making the announcement post today. I just need to use a randomizer based on how many posts there were to select the lucky winners. Thanks for your patience!
Pretty unhappy with the manner in which the contest was decided. Would have been nice to be clued into that rather than invest thought in a post. One could have qualified to win by posting "I think pvp should have fun stuff and not ganks. Trading should be not cheatable. kthx"

To those who are going to sell it- I hope when Diab lo returns he rips you a new one.

Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
And also, I don't care about the key/ tyreal all I care is that d3 is getting our input.
