I think you pretty much summed up everything anyone could want to see that is actually practical.
The only thing I'd like to add is a simpler way to talk to a specific friend.
/w *whoever then my message
is often too time consuming for a fast paced hack n slash game. I often just did /f m when really only talking to one of my friends. And it did lead to people telling me that if I was going to keep doing that then they wanted me to take them off my list.
I'm not one for copy and pasting wow but in this case I think we can all agree wow has a superior messaging system. /r to respond to whoever last sent you a message is about as convenient as it gets.
Yeah.. including game chat somehow to chatrooms chat would be nice. So you have 2 chat screens maybe. In first you have game chat and below it is the chatroom chat that you can switch on top. If theres gonna be guilds there could be another page for guild chat. This would allow you to communicate with guildmates and people in chatrooms without having to whisper to every damn people
I'd like an actual friend's list instead of the sorry excuse for what they use now. Something I can pull up through a menu in game and invite from with a couple clicks. None of this typing commands BS.

4. Transferring system from char to char.
5. An entirely new trading system
FOR EXAMPLE: In the lobby there is a "trading" button on the bottom taking you to a new item trading place...bear with me if that doesn't make sense
6. Enhanced channels: Creating a bot without the need of 2 cdkeys. Also setting a default channel so when you log in you will be directed straight to that channel.
I like all of those. I'd also like to see speed requirements so it wouldn't be like in D2 where one slow connection would slow everyone in the game.
A system that would negate spammers and advertisement bots, including the ones that join games. Hopefully the no rush of D3 will keep most of them out of higher level games unlike the lvl 1's we currently see.
Guild/clan tags so you can recruit but you don't need the tag in the char name or account name.
Maybe a game refresh so say you were doing baal runs, an agreement could be accepted by all to reset the game rather than making a new game and frantically trying to join it.
The ability to inspect people. Maybe it could be only in game or mandated you ask unless they're a friend.
If there are no respecs or if they're limited, possibly a place to simply test out skills and builds like actually being in the game but no items drop. This would replace having to do open b.net or SP and hacking your character to have the spec you wanted to try.
The D2 gem.

I'd want them to remove any "your latency is too high" that they had in StarCraft. That was totally ridiculous. People could play fine as long as they did lat trick, but otherwise, they had "high latency"...
Also, please don't add another stupid hyper-loud menu music theme that carries over to battle.net (DII). Hyper-annoying. Had to mute the game every time I went to battle.net.

Not sure if this is what you're talking about but when you're in a channel if you press Ctrl+m (m for music) it turns that crap off.. forever.. until you press ctrl+m a second time.

Race filter, gender filter, political party affiliation filter...
QFT I can't be playing with any of those sorceresses hailing from the desert with their liberal ways.
