posted a message on Pets instead of Mercs
The whole Artisan mechanic got me thinking if having a Pets mechanic - improving upon WoW's pet system - would be better than having mercs:

1)Can't equip pets, but can "grow" them by using salvage/gold, just like artisans. Provides another sink for both resources, while improving pet's size/stats/skill boost/appearance

2)Instead of hiring, you obtain pets as if they're rare item drops from mob - give them random skills/stats, trade with other players, etc

3)More interesting than having a limited selection of mercs like D2 - having a fetish/demonlord fighting with you would be pretty awesome IMO. Tying new pet choices to achievements system could work too

As long as they do NOT put in ridiculous choices like WoW (space marines lolwtf??), it should be fun

Anyone that played GoW2 would probably agree that it's an awesome gametype: satisfying mass mob kills, bragging rights, tons of replayability - think that'll all be just 100x more awesomer in D3!

1)Slaughter waves of mobs that ramp up in difficulty: find best class combinations,
    try out builds,sense of progression
2)Tie to BNet achievements: team that reached highest wave, most kills/DPS, server firsts, etc
3)After lvl99,killing MegaUber Diablo, 10 000 Baal runs later, this'll offer end-game content that can never be "completed" (+very little dev work required, just randomly generate mobs)

In order to make this work:
    1) There should be minimal item/exp gain. Maybe just give some reward after defeating a mini-boss every 10 waves or so to keep things interesting. Considering game balance, this mode should just be for fun/achievements

    Thoughts?

posted a message on Samurai yes or no?
Well~there's a wizard now, so a class named 'samurai' or 'kensai' wont surprise me now.

Most ppl seemed opposed to samurai idea coz of the name, how bout moving away from the name and focusing on the actual concept? finesse melee as opposed 2 barb's tough melee. So a char that uses slim blades (e.g. katanas) with fancy sword moves, some support magics (disarm, knockback, bleeding wound - think "The Witcher"), and buffs/auras called meditation/alchemy/woteva

posted a message on New Class Suggestion: The Witcher
Havnt played RPG much so only came across this awesome game just now - but has no one else here played it?! Amazed this never came up as a class suggestion! Feels like perfect fit for diablo

Background: a witcher is a dedicated monster hunter (nuff said), that uses 3 swordstyles (fast, strong, group), alchemy to brew potions (give IAS, bonus vs certain monsters, etc), and 5 basic 'signs' for support magic (blind, knockback, disarm etc)

IMO thats ur 3 skill branches right there. This'd prob fall under "fancy light melee char" category - essentialy what the paladin was. Fits the current paladin-shaped hole nicely.

    1. Varied sword skills (replacing zeal etc)
    2. Use potions for buffs (would b prety much like auras, esp if can apply potions to whole group simultaneously)
    3. Innovative support magic for a melee char, in place of purely offensive skills like FOH & hammer
    4. Similar 'righteous' identity, as a monster hunter

    Feedbacks?

While everyone's talking about health orbs & potions...has there been mention of how mana/fury/intellect going to work? Going to be annoying for non-casters needing to find mana orbs...let me spam my blues!

A boss with various flavors of minions besides it, one of the latter of which willingly bestows and sacrifices their life and flesh such that it reinvigorates the reduced life of the former. Another of which may surround the former, and focus their energies towards an elevated point immediately above it, with the purpose of having the former utilize said power as a great weapon against all.

Thus, one would find it absolutely critical to the dispensement of such helpful advocates, whilst dodging destructive attacks of both the former as well as the latter at the same time.

Hey thats pretty awesome! cool 2 c a boss chowing his minions 2 gain health. So u nd 2 decide whether to take down each of his minions first, or jus pummel boss directly

That zombie body part weapon is nice too~and can evn take it to next level~ imagine larger zombies clobbering you with another whole zombie in hand! XD

posted a message on How to implment PvP in D3 (Colosseum (team)gladiator combat?)
At least one drawback to FFA pvp as it was in D2 is that thats the only type of pvp u can have. With dedicated pvp they can implement interesting (e.g. 1v1 colosseum with random mobs entering unexpectedly) maps for diff game types: DM, Team DM, CTF, Domination, Last-man-standing. Also allow 1vsMany, ManyVSMany combat - look at 'Demigod'. Think back to act5's 1v3 ancients quest. Imagine ur a lvl80 barb taking on 3 lvl50 witch doctors~thats gotta b some awesome fighting (which reminds me: a rec&replay feature'd b nice wif diablo)

Mite also be cool with a filterable list feature: kinda like WoW auction house for pvp'ers. can find specific level/class player n issue challenge

Well so far we've seen skeletons with disarmable shields, cultists on countdown timer, mobs charging u, bursting mobs, traps, what other mob mechanic do u want to see?

    Example: Mobs/boss bursting thru walls to ambush u b4 u c them
    http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?p=337755#post337755

    Thinking bout:

    a) mobs that use environment (turn-the tables by having the MOB bringing down that wall on the barb! XD) so that sometimes u gotta rush to trigger the environment b4 the mob does

    B) mobs that physically change as u attack them (not jus change colour): grow more heads as u hack one off (like a hydra), grows larger, etc

posted a message on Teleport returning in D3?
    Quote from "JNM-illiquid" »
I havent read ne of the comments thus far but i just want to say that i really hope they include teleport and keep it basicaly the same as it was in d2. Teleport in PVP is a must, it keeps pvping fast paced and skillfull. tele vs tele duels are far more intense and skillfull than just smiter vs smiter duels where they basically just walk upto each other and whoever has the better gear n dr% n life etc wins. Just my view.

Also i'll love to see enigma or another item that gives +1 to teleport for all classes but make it hard to get. If nobody in d2 duped im sure enigma would have been insanely hard to get. So hopefully they can prevent duping in D3.

Yes.Of course. PvP always shud've been about how good ur tele skill is, guessing tele timing&opp tele location, forcing ppl to resort to name-locking. Core of diablo really...= ='
