you might know me from over at the DH forums. I'm just here to share my latest video, a 4-player tier 59 run. Avoid of our clan has found a way to boost the Wizard's dps to crazy levels in specific situations, making use of the Hydra spell alongside Flame Blades. It's really strong, potentially stronger than a 2xDH combo, and excels when fighting many targets at once. This clear was done a few nights ago and recently Avoid has agreed to let me stream and share it, so here it is. We have done only a few runs, spawning the RG in time almost every time up to tier 60 (but unfortunately we always got a very bad RG on 60). In this particular clear, we managed to use only one 58 key and upgrade it to 59 and 60 afterwards. Since the season is so short, we will not continue to push further because both Avoid and me are busy pushing for rank 1 solo, but it certainly has the potential to clear 61-62 and take the rank 1 non-sever clear if you put in some time to fish for a good rift.
Previously, whenever a Wizard tried to enter a group for serious greater rift attempts, he would have to resort to playing a different class or would have to be carried by his teammates. With this new build (that I don't know all the details of, but you should be able to tell just from seeing and hearing the video), Wizards can be a good or even better alternative to a second DH in groups.
The Wizard had the potential all along - and this is a prime example of how focusing on only one class will ultimately leave everyone blind to other options. It's not an optimal situation to have only two options for the dps slots, but it's certainly better than one. I hope this encourages everyone to try out new things, especially with all the changes coming up in season 3, and not just sit there crying for buffs or nerfs =)

This. This a million times. Just like so many things that took months to discover, this just shows us once again that there's always new stuff to explore. I'm so looking forward to 2.2, because above all it makes everyone more willing to engage in a bit more theorycrafting than usual. And theorycrafting/discovering new stuff is the most exciting thing to to in Diablo.
Awesome job, looks very nice; if it wasn't so late in the era I'd give that a try as well. Congratz to Avoid for finding this!
Nice, cheers for sharing this. Now to find find a good serpent sparker so I can drop my ancient furnace, did I just say that? O.o
All top wizard clears are done using a one-handed weapon. 90% of all wizards when going through the top 100 of the leaderboards have a one-handed weapon equipped.

Even on the PTR. I honestly don't know why this is. This specific situation SS would be better..but with Tals set?
But I have question though, almost the whole duration of the video you had 10 - 20 FPS during fights, a problem I have had for ages ... I'm pretty sure you have a top end pc, mine is pretty decent, and Diablo is the only game where I have these FPS issues. If someone from ZE also had this problem, I guess there is no solution to this yet ? I only encounter this problem while in combat with a group of mobs. At one point I even thought the game was running on the integrated video card chip of my motherboard instead of the graphic card D:
It is the game's fault. I can play Dying Light, BF:H, Star Citizen Beta and numerous other titles on High/Ultra with 50-60 FPS, but when it comes to Diablo it looks like I don't even have a graphics card. But that is the same for every Blizzard Title out there, as soon as shit is going down, you drop to <20 or sometimes even <10 fps.
OT: Nice clear, now I just have to wait for the 5th to combine my Season Arlyse and Stun Bracers with my NS Serpent Sparker

I don't have a high-end PC, ZE is still looking for sponsors though
On a more serious note, apparently there are some things you can do, I have tried many of them, saw little improvement, and just accepted that the game is is a freaking bad state. However, in not even a week, all of our worries will vanish anyway =)
P.S. Yes, Sever obviously is a troll, I guess Avoid will reveal his (solo) build on Sunday night / Monday and there should be quite some overlap I assume. I haven't specifically talked to him about that, we'll see.

Let me save you the trouble: He's running Ancient SS with Disintegrate instead of Blizzard. Anything less is....uncivilized. :-)
He did integrate Flame Blades (was that Gabynator's idea?) into Firedawn's build. That's his own innovation; I think everyone else wrote off Wizards in High end GRs. I know I did.

Based on what I've experienced, d3's rendering is tied to its network activity to a great extant. ie. whenever you're waiting for data from the server your fps will drop.
Back when s1 began I did a 4x dh gr35 on like day 2 where we were all completely freezing on tiny packs and I noticed that the game was actually using 3-4mbps bandwidth presumably because all those sentries shooting super fast with old m6 + tnt were generating lots of network traffic. The last time I checked they had fixed the extreme bandwidth problem but high mob density seems to make it so that the server either can't compute or can't send data to you fast enough and then the game clients pauses rendering while it's waiting for data.
True, D3 is the only game in which I experience real dps drops, even when playing solo. If it really is a bandwith problem, I wonder if they couldn't fix it a bit by reducing all the dmg by a factor of 1000, considerably reducing the amount of bits required to write such a number (I'm not sure if they could change the number type, though), even if it didn't help with that problem at all, I certainly would welcome such a change as the numbers found in the game right now are a bit ridiculous (70 lv grift RG hp - 11 trilion, cmon...).

Wizard Tier 59 4p (DH PoV)

Yeah, a good Serpent Sparker would be nice...

Why is he wearing a Sever? (the wizard)? Looked at his profile and hes got a Sever on
He's trolling. He's also using Blizzard, which is a joke too.
Lots of Ze members log out with sever equiped maximum trolling!
Gj on the kill. unfortunately there is this idea created on players that wizzard is no good in group play and that is hard to change (ppl mentality).
Hope new patch allow other specs / classes to shine in group play.
Cheers
