I was gunna say a "Null Barb", as in I probably won't make one for a while. I mean the Wizard is just so... drool-worthy. D: Albeit I probably will play him eventually. I'll probably make him a two-handed "hulk smash" kind of dude.

I plan on making a barb with some big ass 2 hander, but dual wield is a close second. It really comes down to whats good for PvE vs PvP, as dual wield usually has better dps while a 2hander is better for burst damage. We'll see. Either way I'm making a barb first and smashing a bunch of stuffff

Give, expecting nothing thereof. ------------ BoD - Come have some fun! Folks will always come and go, so enjoy them while they're meant to be in your life.
I will make all builds of all characters from scratch. I will not use the respect system. My enjoyment comes from building the character from scratch. By the way all characters are going to be Hardcore right from scratch.
I have not decided on which build I will build first until the game is about to be released and have some more information on the skills. Likely it will be a Tank that is a Juggernaut.

Well thats going to make it so you have to save up points, which doesn't go very well for non-melee classes. There are also probably a few free respecs, so why wouldn't you use those?
1. I will likely be playing in Single Player Tournaments with some players from the Phrozen Keep and we do not use the respect system of PlugY that can be used with D2 and mods that can use them. I do not think that will be implented for the D3 Tourneys.
2. Because it is there does not mean I have to use them.
3. I find more enjoyment in the Challenge and rebuilding Characters. In D2 before finding mods to play for it I would build strange and wacky builds and see how far they can go. If the character can only get to Act 3 normal that is fine with me as long as I had fun. Finishing the Game is only a bonus and not the main objective. The main objective is just having fun. To me the respecting takes the fun out of it since you can just respect to whatever build you want at the end game. Respecting is all right to test a build but I like playing that build from the beginning and not from the end game.

I agree with you, but all I'm saying is that D3 operates somewhat differently in that its considerably harder to save up points until you can put them in the skills you want. So if you ever wanted to use the higher level skills, you'd probably have to respec.

1. We will see when the game is released. I have a feeling Normal is not going to be difficult. That is about half of the levels (30 out of 60) gained when you are done. If only 7 skills to choose from remains it is likely that one of the earlier skills will be good to max. If the rune system remains that benefit skills with new capabilities than I should be fine.
2. If it is tough I will see about developing a game plan that will work. I do like a tough challenge and get great enjoyment out of it.
3. I know most people will not play it my style and I am fine with it. I do not mind if other people use the respect system. I think it is a good add on especially for the casual gamers so they do not need to create a new character to play a different build or they make a mistake or if there is a patch that changes skills around.

Yes it maybe more difficult than D2 but I have experience playing mods for D2 that is a lot more difficult than D2. One of the mods you have no skills until level 5 and the monsters are a lot stronger.
Like I said I will likely use a low level skill since they are saying that low level skills should be useful even in later games. Likely the passives will help a lot and runes that will boost the skills that are used.

Specifically, I'm making a dual-wield, slow attack speed, infinity crit chance, HUGE ASS DAMAGE NUMBERS barb. I was originally gonna make a DW frenzy-style barb, but I've been replaying D2 as frenzy barb and I'm so painfully annoyed with that mechanic that I need something else.

Yea I think I'm going a two-hander barb with an emphasis on straight damage, but if I don't like that as much as I think I will, I'm going dual-wield with an emphasis on crit. After all, I'm pretty sure that if I select my skills/traits right, I can make it so that I can switch pretty freely between two-handers and dual wield during leveling, and decide when I hit max level. But its probably going to be one of those in the end.
