With the implementation of transmog, and the fact that the deluxe version and CE come with extra charater slots I don't see why they wouldn't add a cash shop. It seems like they might be planning to sell character slots if its the case that the deluxe and CE come with some additional ones. They could also sell transmog items and "wings" and such. I would actually be happy to see an ingame shop, it would mean more money towards development which is always beneficial to the players. Am I crazy? What do you guys think?
If I could buy an additional stash page, even if it would be 10 bucks for each page, you could sign me right the fuck up for it.
I'll buy the CE even just because 3 more characters are 60 more items (or 120 more pieces of jewelry/belts/material stacks) I can store. For a hoarder like me, RoS space restrictions are a nightmare.
It wouldn't surprise me to see a cosmetic shop in a B2P game. In the CE of this game there are transmogrification items and a pet; guess what WoW is selling in their item shop? Exactly that kind of stuff.
Microtransaction are standard now. GW2 is B2P and has an online shop, F2P games are selling all kind of boosts and/or cosmetic items, single player games are full of DLCs. That's the gaming industry in the XXIth century.
This kind of business is really profittable because there are a lot of people willing to pay for a bit of customization of their character, i'm guilty of this too because i paid for some skins in LoL since i like (more or less) the game and i wanted some fancy outfits for my main champions.
I saw a lot of players in WoW buying mounts and pets on the release day because they wanted them and they liked the design. All i can say it's their money and they can do whatever they want. The line is when the game starts to become P2W, which could be argued that the RMAH was exactly like that, but that argument is so old and i don't really want to revive it.
So, if Blizzard wants to put a cash shop in Diablo 3 it would be in line of the current industry and surely a way to get income with the removal of the AH. Would i like it? No. But surely i won't go berserk on the forums if i see it implemented.
If some player doesn't want it, he can speak with his wallet but he won't win, there is a majority of people that likes to support their favorite games even further than buying the box.
In conclusion, i wouldn't care less and no one should be surprised to see an in-game shop in Diablo 3 sooner or later.
I don't mind paying for sizable content or the option to buy cosmetics. Stash tabs/character slots are a grey-area thing for me.
If they sell gold/crafting mats/gems or anything else that leads to a direct shortcut or advantage, I will petition for the return of the AH.

Most internet arguments begin as butthurt. Butthurt is typically caused by:
a) A misunderstanding, due to poor use of English by uneducated folks or non-native speakers
A misunderstanding, due to poor reading comprehension
c) An individual that cultivates and feeds on the butthurt of othersDon't be butthurt.
Heroes of the Storm will likely follow LoL with buyable skins. WoW has pets and mounts. Transmog/companions for D3 isn't too far away from that, and doesn't seem out of line. People like (REALLY like) that kind of stuff, and Blizzard is smart for offering it.
I would not at all mind an in-game shop for cosmetic items and other quality of life improvements, such as stash tabs, more character slots beyond the minimum required to have one of each class in each game mode, etc. I think this would be perfectly acceptable, and I would possibly be willing to spend some of my own money if the returns are worth it.
What I would not find acceptable, however, is an in-game shop selling items that are more or less required for a decent gaming experience. The exact location of that boundary is of course subjective and open to interpretation, but I hope Blizzard would tread very carefully here if they do go this route.
The only way I'd find a cash shop acceptable is if it -only- sold cosmetic items. Gear for Xmog, armor dyes, pets and anything else that's strictly cosmetic.
My own hypocritical line however is that I'd accept stash tabs / character slots, as they don't directly effect gameplay. However, I'd feel way more O.K with those options if there was an alternative to buying out of the cash shop; IE; the items can also drop, and / or you can buy the stash tabs / character slots with in game currency (probably blood shards since people will be hoarding billions from vanilla).

If I could buy those extra 3 character slots for, say, $10, that would be acceptable.

Yeah. It's a shame they're giving us 100 more reasons to collect loot for future endavours, and then giving us the same amount of stash space.
Yeah I could easily see microtransactionsin diablo for cosmetic items and gold. Blizzard would make some good money off that.
We're not in Kansas no more.
hell no for a buy to play game !!
if it was f2p like PoE then np for microtransactions
World of WarCraft says hi!
