The random stat in here rolled Int+Vit instead of CC, which gives us the chance to re-roll the Vit to CC (unless there's something hidden in the game-code that remembers the stats which rolled doubly). See?
I doubt that they would let us split an affix, it'd be counter-intuitive and stupid. In that case however, why not give up 78 cold resistance

The random stat is Int/Vit.
What in the world would cause you to believe that you can reroll half of the stat? Of course the game keeps track of each of the individual rolls... otherwise enchanting wouldn't be possible.

Can you explain to me what 1/2 a stat is versus a full stat? Are random stats considered only 1/2 a stat while cc, ias or cd is considered full? What about all resis vs a single resis?
To me, getting a stronger char with an insane 350+ mainstat + 6%CC Mempo is profit
Also, I think if stats reach the 350-400 mark (as we have been shown they do), even the highest Int Mempo with 6%CC of today would fall flat compared to a 350-400 Int one.
Thanks for clarifying. If I understand you correctly then I can buy this item which has all the great stats except movement speed.
ice climbers
240 st
40 vit
70 ar
150 armor
1500 melee damage
8% cold damage reduc
I did a search and did find one with similar stats except instead of melee damage it has movement speed, so I can assume I can re-roll the melee damage for MS?
Another idea is getting a mempo with 190 main stat, life %, ar, and armor. I could re-roll the armor for cc since the main stat is the standard 170-200 roll.

We do not know, precisely, if you will be guaranteed to be able to roll movement speed or not, but you WILL be able to select the thorns and reroll that to something else (presumably something that would not violate standard item generation rules).
You do realize that (part of) the 250+ mainstat is the random property which you're going to remove?
Uh... not really.
This is the highest Int/non-CC Mempo available right now on the GAH.

What he is explaining is the fact that, yes it rolled a Int + Vit affix, however, that is one affix. If you change that one "roll" - really the affix, you lose both not just one. You can't have your cake and eat it too. The vit + int is a married unit.
What if... what if... all the old Loot 1.0 items become "Legacy" items and cannot be enchanted? /discuss
It's possible, I suppose, although not something I'd enjoy.
I wonder, how many people around here do not have a WoW background. Epic lvl60 items got replaced on day ONE of The Burning Crusade and it was no different with other expansions. You all remember that 3k dps weapon from the preview? How do you think, we're transitioning to those?
Don't expect to use any of your current stuff in RoS

As long as the gear doesn't look anywhere near as bad as those day 1 quest greens in TBC, then I'll be happy =) MAN that was some ugly stuff.
My thought exactly, that's why I sold all my gear for a nice profit when everybody was levling new classes for Paragon 2.0
Prior to expansion day i'll just buy some crappy ass gear for 50k/a piece and replace them with nice, neat and ugly(?) RoS gear
Not entirely true, not atleast for my Hunter when BC got released. I even ran with lvl 60 items at freshly dinged 70
Yes, sure, if you were one of the guys that did Naxx 1.0, then you could use your epics for several days after the launch of TBC. But not much longer than that. I even had to bank my Warglaive within the first week of WotLK and that was one of the best items ever designed in WoW. Two might have lasted a little longer than that because of the set bonus, but I was never fortunate with loot
Let's just leave the nitpicking aside and assume a loot reset for the majority of players
But I fully expect the above average RoS items to blow the BiS ilvl 63 items out of the water. I actually prefer that. I certainly do not understand this mentality of people afraid their items are gonna "lose value".
Ok, I expected that. Here's what I - with said WoW-background - expect to happen:
1) Stat inflation: Among your first several blue weapons will be an upgrade over your current lvl60 legendary, that's how we'll eventually reach those 3k dps one-handers.
2) Conversion of percentage-based bonuses (like crit %) into ratings. So, for example this 6% crit Mempo could have 60 crit rating by then. These 60 crit rating might give 6% crit chance at lvl60 but only 1.25% crit chance at lvl70. And then there could be items with like 200 crit rating.
This is what happened in WoW and given, that it was - at least in my opinion - a very good solution, I don't see a reason why not to apply it to the Diablo franchise.
But I fully expect the above average RoS items to blow the BiS ilvl 63 items out of the water. I actually prefer that. I certainly do not understand this mentality of people afraid their items are gonna "lose value".
You know me, the last thing I'm worried about is "losing value". I just don't want to completely re-gear. I'm attached to some of my gear.
Hmm... that's interesting...
I think it's a necessary evil to improve itemization and bring some variety into the table. There's only so much they can do to fight the current BiS without increasing the power cap significantly.
I don't mind having to completely re-gear, actually I think I actually want that. Soo, they're gonna have a hard time pleasing both ends.
I'm a crazy person. For all I care, they could reset everything and give a fresh start to whoever goes into RoS and Loot 2.0 (a la ladder-reset). At least make those bots work for that gold all over again, make the players who want to bot have to re-lvl all those bots and farm a bit before they can start botting I know that ain't happening, but it's what this loco here would like to see.

What causes the attachment? You can probably keep the visual appearance via the transmog feature.
this isn't WoW... this is diablo.. things work differently here, particularly when it comes to stats. stats will remain the same, with the same function. however, there may even be increased stat values (in regards to AS/CD/CC) with the release of ilvl70 items. at least, i'd hope there will be, though we can only speculate on such things at this current point in time...

I was thinking about this too, actually well before the RoS talk came up. It seems like an inevitability, right? I mean otherwise a 10/50/9 pair of gloves would be close-to-BiS at 70. Flat %age increases, as we saw in WoW, and as we're seeing in D3, are not an extensible solution. The ratings system, despite generating ever-increasing stats, certainly creates a solution that scales far better into the future.

Certain classes can already get 90%+ crit chance. There's basically no room to "increase" that stat. That, for all intents and purposes, is the entire problem. How can you scale up gear when there isn't much room to do it? At some point everyone would have 100% crit, 750% crit damage, 3.5 attacks/second, and 4000 primary stat. Then what? Triple primary stats on all items? Create random new stats because everything else is capped?

I did something similar but not to that extreme. I sold all extra gear and any gear I had worth over 50m and bought something much cheaper(10-30m). All the new gear I bought has extra stats which could be modified by the mystic IF my theroy holds. If they don't let people modify their pre loot 2.0 gear it will be like an elephant dart to the users face.

Let us split? Its already splitted. So it seems.
Its 78 All res, not Cold res. And they're not sure if they want us to re-roll fixed stats on Legendaries. That is currently in talks.
