I got a chance to try the console demo last night and I must say, I really enjoyed it. It feels much closer to the game I was originally envisioning when D3 came out. Direct control is really fun and responsive.
In the console version there is a small chance for a health globe to turn into a "Nephalem Globe" and provide you with a buff. When I first read about this I thought it would just be some 2 minute stat boost ala shrines.
What they really do is give you this buff:
Nephalem Glory- "You move faster and unleash terrible blasts of energy on your enemies. Health and power globes will magnify the intensity of this effect and extend the duration."
Now THATS a cool buff. It encourages you to stay in combat and kill things as fast as you can. I really like this and hope it makes it to the pc version.
On an unrelated note, the console version has a lot of new notes during the loading screens that the PC doesn't have. One of them said something like "Baal, The Lord of Destruction controls the Hellforge."
Control(s)? Teaser? Maybe... What do you guys think?
To be fair, we're already greatly encouraged to "stay in combat and kill things asap".
Most powerful end-game builds make use of that somehow. Archon duration time, Barb fury generation, Witch Doctor's Soul Harvest and Gruesome Feast, Monk's Sweeping Wind. Even CMWizs and DHs benefit from always having a ton of white mobs around (also to recover resources and reset cooldowns).
If they add it, that's fine. Feels flashy and cool at first, but doesn't really add that much gameplay depth.
The Baal note is a bit weird. Baal is dead, and afaik he didn't control the Hellforge even before dying (it was in Diablo's control, andafter we killed him it was unclaimed).
Yeah, you raise a good point about end game builds already encouraging you to stay in combat. This buff certainly makes the initial leveling more fun though, at least imo.
It is correct that Baal once watched over the Hellforge, according to the Diablo Wiki at least:
"Baal presided over the Realm of Destruction, at the heart of which lies the Hellforge. This realm was the site of some of the most impregnable and well-fortified fortresses of all the Burning Hells, as well as birthplace of the most fearsome weapons available to demonkind."

What struck me as odd was the in-game note said "controls." This sort of hints that he may still be around somewhere
I hope we see Baal and Meph again, at some point.
