So what do you guys think about the 4 player co-op?
When I first heard that there was only going to be 4 player co-op I was kind of taken back. I thought there would be 5-10 player co-op since there are 5 classes and a male and female of each. From what I have seen on videos of the beta it really doesn't seem like you would need more then 4 players to play through the game. But it is just the beta and I'm more then sure it will get harder as you go on.
I think 4 player is fine, they could have maybe made it 5. But 4 is enough for groups to go in and have a lot of fun, and keep up with everyone. Too many people might wind up all over the map, one doing their own thing instead of staying together. I personally cant wait to dive in with some friends and experience Diablo.
I want it to be 5 for the sole reason of being able to play 1 of each class with my friends.
Blizz have their reasons and i guess we have to live with them, according to most ppl iv asked in beta says its fine with only 4!
Still 5 would have been awesome =(
I can understand that viewpoint, but consider what happens if/when they add a new class in an expansion pack. After a few moments playing the game, I don't think I'd want more than four. It's not terrible in the beta, but I can't imagine how chaotic it'll be in later difficulties.
Given how much power and flashy effects each player is capable of, more than 4 would just be insanity (and probably start your computer on fire).
Even in Diablo 2, it was very hard to keep any sense of the action when you had too many people in the same place.
I think Kardax2 hit the nail on the head, if you were able to create 8 player games, you would need a pretty good graphics card to be able to deal with that actually. The game seems fairly demanding, more than most would think.
I'm OK with 4. Like others have stated, it looks like D3 can get a little graphics intensive. I seem to remember the devs stating that more than 4 and there was too much going on. From the videos I have seen I tend to believe that.
Having 4 players is a good balance for those who enjoy groups/guilds and those who enjoy more solo play. The game is designed for a pick up and play attitude rather than like WoW where a lot of the content can't be seen without a large group of people.
Personally what I will be doing is finding good combination of 4 players to run through the higher difficulties with. I want to find a balance of crowd control and damage along with all sort of debuffs during difficult encounters. Being able to coordinate with a small group of buddies and tear it up seems like a good thing after dealing with big raids.
I think four players will be fine. I have a hard time trying to keep track of my own character, let alone 3 other people. In Diablo II I was never a fan of 8 players in the same game on the same screen. Too much happening at once.
I'm very happy with 4, somehow it fits with my current gaming group. I of course have a ton of friends playing games and we all joined up in different stuff, but when we split into 4 man groups via Borderlands everything worked out swell. What I liked about 4 players at one time is that it is enough to feel like a good group but not so many that you can't communicate when stuff gets crazy.

I'm quite happy with it, Diablo 2 was chaotic and required no teamwork what so ever, this might require a bit of "co-op" for a change.
four is the perfect numbr, 5 would be like "uggh i hate that 5th guy"
6 or more would be a raid
keep it at four, this is NOT an MMO!
Well u still can go for group of 3 u are right its not a mmo the level of difficulty adapts to your party so you dont have to go 4 (its not a raid of 10 guys where you need 10 big bad boys). So why not max it to five 5 like the number of classes?(keep in mind there will be an expansion and if in a near future will be lets say 7 diferent chars, 3 clasess wont be able to play together)
I mean there's no real change for the game because the most of partys won't be full why not increase the number to 5? why 4 is really better than 5? i don't see any value argument there...
There is a real change in mob size. Mob size of a solo game is greatly less than in a 4 player game.

I think Jay Wilson said something about this in an interview. They have tested out all the team of 3,4,5 and 6. Earlier, it was decided to have a team of 6 but was later altered to 4. They must have a strong reason behind this change. Maybe, keeping all 5 characters in a group would lead to some particular team choices (mainly of having all five type in a team). However, by keeping the players to 4, the choices would be varied and the overall number of players cluttering the pvp arena would be reduced. Thus, more team work n variation.
I will actually miss the 8 player games, yeah they were kind of a mess at times but it was nice when leveling early on to have so many people help out. Later on they became awesome too for Baal runs and what not.
I'm loving this. There are so many good points on both sides of the mirrior. I am sad though. It seems I'm the only one who liked playing with 8 people online. :'( Staying up late, having afew friends come over, bring their laptops and desktops, yahoo chat and 3way call with friends down the street. Yup, good times. I guess that makes me a super geek, or a the dump guy that tries to fit in with the geeks but just doesn't really make it....
On that note, what classes would you want to really be teamed up with?
p.s. Should that question be another forum topic???
My mates and I who intend to play together talked about this, and the only gripe with the 4 plaer cap we could come up with is that "there IS 5 classes". I think they have made a good decision especially given the fact you have to be online which can be an issue for some people with limited connection options (rural areas get less BB options).
The general decision we have come to is either A) D3 Lan at someones house or Virtual Lan - Play from home and use Steam Chat. Either way its win win win for us the consumer.

That sounds like a good plan in my book. I think I will use Steam chat over Skype or Oovoo.

I'm there with you bro.
I do think 5 would make the game feel more complete for PC gamers.

Diablo III would be the new Crisis lol

Nor with more than one other player in Diablo.
