With all the sell-side competition, prices are going to be extremely low (like, a couple dollars at most for top-tier items).
Even gamers on a Wal-Mart income will be tempted... especially when they weigh the cost of the item against how much time it would take to find it themselves, compared to their job's hourly pay.

Over time, without some kind of reset event, the game's economy will be saturated with top-tier runes, but this should work for a while.

The IK set, today, is still very good, but I agree that the prices people are charging (which is not necessarily what people are actually paying--lots of stuff on the AH never sells) is out of line for legendaries of any kind.

In a broader sense, I don't consider upgrading gems past Flawless Square to be worthwhile: the costs are very high, and the gains are minimal. I don't think costs need to go down, I think the benefits need to go up, scaling with the gold investment.

To avoid interruptions, you have to reduce the heat output of your system:

The reality is that most pre-2011 non-gaming laptops are unable to provide a good Diablo 3 experience.

With vsync disabled, you can see "torn" frames as it starts drawing the next one before it finished the first. But this is very wasteful; your computer will run hotter, use more power, and the fans may spin faster.
If you use Vsync (or, with NVIDIA's 3xx drivers, Adaptive Vsync), you'll never get higher than your refresh rate anyway so you may as well disable the FPS limiter entirely.
