I saved a ton of materials on beta and today I decided to try to create one amazing weapon. So I used most of my stocked materials to craft some journeyman heavy axe(1h-axe with 17.5 dps + 1 Random attribute). The thing I noticed was that the axes kept getting the same affixes no matter how many I created. After creating about 50(I like to make sure its not bad luck, I realized that Crafted Items have limited affixes and I would never get the attributes I want.

The moral of the story is that we will be forced to look up what affixes an item is allowed before we actually craft anything.
What you thought you did not have to. Also you will likely need to look at what level you can get the affix. It was like that in D2 when crafting gear as well.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
Interesting. I think i like it this way. Certain weapons will be best with certain builds, making the difference in weapons more than their attackspeed.
Haven't they stated that not all the affixes are in the game yet, they will come after beta. I've also heard that there are affixes that will only appear in later difficulties. Also, they've stated that more item properties will be added post launch.
Also, I won't be surprised if there are some affixes that won't come up on crafted items, but only appear on dropped items. Just to give that added bonus for finding items.
Items the craft with random affixes will often have dominant affixes, i.e rolling very similar 1h axes many times in a row. Even still, there are rare occasions where that item will roll completely different affixes you hadn't seen previously. Maybe there is only a 5-10% chance of this happening but it's possible.
As of now, info on crafted items is not complete. They often come with 1 set property (+atk in this case) and x random magic affixes. On the game guide theres info for the set affixes but not for the seemingly large pool of potential random affixes. I kind of doubt they will include these complete details.
With all my testing I've been thoroughly satisfied with the crafting system, couldn't really critique it in any way to be honest. I think you went a little overboard with the axes though, if I cant craft anything good in 4 or 5 rolls I move on man lol. Level up the artisan more, with enough tomes of training the blacksmith can make some nice stuff even for beta use.

As far as I can tell atm, +dmg is the absolute king of dmg stats in D3.
My DPS more than DOUBLES just from my two +3-8 dmg rings, and my +8-12 dmg Offhand orb.
With a Standard 15 dps mace without rings and orb
56 Dps
With a Standard 15 dps mace with rings and orb
151 Dps
With an elemental affix 24 dps mace without rings and orb
92 Dps
With an elemental affix 24 dps mace with rings and orb
193 Dps
Of course, maybe later in game the weapons will bring more to the table and not be overshadowed by +dmg Affixes.
But that is purely speculation atm.

He is already maxed out lol.
Most of my gear is crafted really.
However, if the desired affix is extremely rare, then its not really much better than if it doesnt exist.
I doubt it will be worth making in game regardless. My biggest fault with the system, assuming it works similar to this, is that players will be forced to go online and research what they are going to craft. Yet Blizzard said it did not like the old rune word system for that very same reason.
Another possibility I am considering, though I do not have anywhere near enough data to support this, is that the # of affixes might determine what affixes are possible. In this case, you wont be able to get an elemental affix on a crafted item unless there are at least 2 affixes.
All the weapons I have made thus far has confirmed the above hypothesis.
So has anyone on beta actually CRAFTED a weapon with one random affix that became an elemental affix?

My guess would be that this rule only applies, because its the very beggining of the game. No need for elemental attacks, vitality, armor, resource regen etc., beacuse one can instagib almost everything, no need to balance your gear, just get as much damage as you can. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I don't want crafted items to be the "best" in the game anyway.
I want some of them to be tho.
I think the power in crafted items comes from being able to talor the item you will get and the (very rare) possibility the suffix/affix combinations will rival the best legendary items in the game. The D2 system is annoying because if you want a kick ass rare 2 handed weapons you basically just have to hope one drops - you might see 20 decent to amazing rares but none of them are 2 handed weapons.... Being able to magically crunch them all up and try and specifically roll rare 2 handed swords is the major change over D2.

This sounds correct. In D2 the best way to do high damage in Act 1 normal was to get a socketed weapon and throw a bunch of chipped gems in it. That didn't exactly hold true for perfect gems towards the end of the game because those values never scaled and they were eventually outclassed by things that did.

Well I was mainly pointing out that +min +max and +elemental dmg were the king of DPS stats, not the king of stats in general. On the Beta anyways. Though if I were to make a wager, I would say that will hold true in general as well, especially if you go for a fast attack speed.
Though you are right, its hard to die in the beta in general, and nearly impossible to die in the beta once you get to level 13. I joined a public game today and someone asked me to help him get the resurrecting achievement(Resurrecting one of each class). So I took off all my gear, and stood in a group of mobs and they couldn't even kill me, and I was playing a wizard with glass cannon. I had to go and find another larger group and stand there for ~10-15 seconds.

I just look at crafted gear as ''bonus gear'' from the items you find. For every X item you find and salvage you will get a new chance of getting an item you like. From what i know, dropped gear and crafted gear are very similiar and ultimately comes from the same place.

After that massive failure I started making Apprentice Morning Stars, and quickly got numerous +elemental dmg weapons that far exceeded the DPS of the axe.

Tryed to make flamberges with elemental mods... I didn't happen =/

So, I wouldn't be to worried about that.

The rare affix is a distinct possibility, as I was able to make "Bounding Heavy Boots of the Lion" after numerous attempts. Which offers +21 atk.
