Book System - you would find books or some other kind of item that adds a new skill to your character upon use. If you don't need the skill it could be traded off to another player looking for it.
Free place ANYwhere system - Almost like the old tree system but with no roots. You can place your skill points that you earn upon lvling up on the skills you would like with out wasted point. Could still be lvl requirements on some skills, but could be possible that all skills will be equal.
Skill lvling- the skill lvls as you use it.
Maybe have have it to where you have to lvl up a few different skills to earn a new one. And this would make respecing fun.
Studying skills- you will learn new skills from npcs, items, quest etc.
Could make it where you can only learn a certain amount of skills at a time. As your lvl up you could hold more skills.
Seeing as how they just tweeted, they revamped it and have a new way, it's kinda early to say what you think it will be. Should be what you want it to be.

I always liked the whole book idea. Isn't it kinda up there twice? What do you study with? Books. lol.

You should explain eachone in the OP. I will keep my vote for now and try to explain the system i would prefer.
There no such thing as skill tree. The skills however still have level requerments. Get a skill like whilr wind at a low level is extremely cheesy. Every skill is suposed to be equally good, but this not cut out the level requeriments. Just make the skill progress enterely based at a stats/substats and level will not matter.
A skill that are taken at a high level not necerely means it is stronger. It just have a different utility - and due it's over the topness it must beling to a higher level. This actually happens in D2 (the necromancer's corpse explasion are only tier 2, but are one of the best skills in the game. Also, the paladin blessed hammer are much stronger then an of his offensive skills and are a mid tier skill).
The only problem here is the possibility of one stacking to much signature skills. Like a barbarian with ww, sysmic slam, leap and charge. For some reason i feel the character should have limited acces to the most cool skills. They could limit it via game mechanics (ex: those skill simply cost to much fury/mana to be viable to cast all then.).
I hope they creat something more inovative, but i doubt they will :/
I chose "Other" because I feel blizz is going to come up with something completely different. A book system is based upon drop % too much and hinders people from moving on to new content when they are grinding mobs just to get skills. To me the anywhere, anyplace skill system seems too crazy with a whole lot of balancing issues.
As for skill leveling / skill studying, I assume one of these is based on the way you level skills in WOW and the other would be that you have to use the skill in order to level it up. The WOW based skill system is nice, but I would want something different for D3. Leveling up a skill by using it will cause way too much grinding I think, or it will lead to you only leveling up a couple of skills to get you through the game which becomes D2 in the sense that only a handful of skills are useful.
What is the difference between skill leveling and skill studying?
Skill lvling- the skill lvls as you use it.
Maybe have have it to where you have to lvl up a few different skills to earn a new one. And this would make respecing fun lol.
Studying skills- you will learn new skills from npcs, items, quest ect.

I'm glad they've decided to abolish the skill tree system. I personally think the idea makes no logical sense. Think realistically about how one would earn a skill. It's done through experience, learned from a book, or taught by a teacher. My guess is we will have to learn skills taught by teachers in a quest format; in such a way that we must to earn our skills and abilities. Once we have learned the basic skills, then we can upgrade them with experience as we progress through the game. I don't like the skill book idea because it's been done several times before, includig Diablo 1, and it can ruin the economy.

Ok then, ill vote for "Skill lvling".
Although, a combination between the two options stated above would be nice... Like, to level up a skill you will have to complete quests using thta skill or something... i dono.

isnt that the study skill system, trainer quests or something?
I really dont think theres going to be some book system like there was in D1 seeing as how D2 was far superior for how we acquired our skills. Of course we dont know anything there really planning yet and a system like D1s could be good obviously if its done properly and made to offer customization. Personally I prefer if they use some type of skill tree

Ohhh the explaination is not enough to understand... I made a bad vote... I definitively don't want skill leveling (need to use to level) It's sure it wouldn't work like that. Slightest you have more time than others, you'll own others... The strengh of people mustn't come from luck and time you have to play, it's a rule unbreakable, the game is more "casual" so....
On first read, I don't understand "ne" **** WHY YOU DON'T WRITE "ANY" IT'S ONLY 1 LETTER MORE !!!!!!!
So after understanding, I choose this one, free to put ANY where but you still have level requirment.

Dude, no offense intended, but you shouldn't complain about other people's way to write, I have trouble understanding most of your posts. I spent like 5 minutes figuring out what that Slightest was doing there.
On topic, I think that what Blizz meant by no more skill trees was that, since with 5 points in level 1 skills, you unlock ALL level 6 skill (assuming it's similar to D2), there was really no point in having separate trees. So they just blended them all together. And I cast my vote on that option, whichever it is.
We're implementing and will be testing a new system that changes how skills are acquired. That's all I'll say.
Aquired, not leveled up.
When i think about how skills are acquired in D2, i think of them being acquired by point on each lvl up. So to me i dont think we will be seeing ANY more skill points earned on lvl up.

I hope it will not work like that, I hate to be forced to put 5 points between few skills. After a while everybody will put 5 points in the same skill, the best, probably a passive one... Is it in that way you'll increase customization ?
What if they put some veru useful utility spells in the lower tiers.
It's will be right if you have more than one or two useful skills in each tier, except if you access to next tiers when you continue to upgrade your first tier skill. But I continue to think it's not a good thing to forced players... More freedom we will have more customization will be possible.
Other - Cain teaches you rad, Horadric ninja assassin moves. "Stay a while, and I'll kick your ass!"
Other - You are plugged into a computer and have to fight Morpheus in a virtual world.
Other - Yoda...
Other - Zeus zaps you with lightning to give you new insight on the world.
Really, it doesn't matter how you acquire skills as long as they are somehow tiered or unlocked as you progress and there will be more than one way to effectively pummel the legions of hell.
