Angel, I think I figured you out. You believe that everyone should believe and think and act the same as you. You feel it is a personal attack if someone thinks or feels or believes anything that is not the same as you. However, there are many that think differently, there are many that enjoy PvM, there are many that enjoy building up a character with friends, there are many that believe that there is more to a game then just killing each other ruthlessly. There are also those that believe the PvP component of Diablo 2 was far too ruthless, and there has been more then one person complain about being hostiled when entering a trade game or a level game that finished and turned to dueling.
My appologies if I went off topic, but I felt it should be said, and this was as good a place as any.
To stay on topic:
Make normal casual, nm semi-casual, and hell hard as, well, hell!
1. To PvM, which is utterly boring and repetitive as anyone who's played can tell you.
Just because it was boring and repetitive in D2, for which some people might have resorted to PvP, doesn't mean that it will be, or god forbid, should be the case in D3. They are obviously working on improving the PvE experience to something pleasurable and competitive. I can dig out sources if you want. D2 has always been about the story, leveling and item hunting. PvP turned out to be a bastard child kind of a feature that captivated players for about 5 minutes until they realized how completely ridiculous and unessential it is. Of course, there's some griefers/trolls who stayed with it, lived by it, and believed that it actually mattered something.

2. To collect items and build characters. I fail to see what benefit these people get out of bothering to play bnet at all; if they're satisfied simply by improving their virtual selves and don't care about others then why don't they play single player?
Because.... IT IS A "TRADING GAME". How are you supposed to trade in single player, please tell me that.
P.S. I don't like the fact that it's a "trading game", or would even call it that, I was just quoting one of the D3 devs who stressed out several times how Diablo is a trading game.
I wasn't talking about Diablo 3 at all. But you know as well as I that after 10 times through the game with every character, no matter how awesome it is, it's going to get repetitive and boring.
As far as trading, that still doesn't explainwhy the types of people I mentioned want to get better gear. As I said before: "getting pleasure purely from improvement in a video game? Come--the fuck--on. There's absolutely no point in improving and reaching the pinnacle of power if you can't compare yourself to others (favorably, I might add) in PvP."

There is absolutely no point competing in PvP based of items, either. It's not PvP anymore, it's "who's got a cooler thingy".
And after a game gets repetitive and boring, people move on to a new game. Excluding crazed fans who HAVE to play the same game for 10 years.
It's not improvement as much as it's progress and a form of gambling. The only competition people should ever care about is themselves. Getting a better build than they got last time...
I am playing Diablo II since its release, and I never played PvP, because honestly, I think it sucks!
Agreed. The entire pvp system sense I started playing has been boring as hell. There are so many good quality pvp centered games, but Diablo is not one of them. Diablo is a dungeon crawler demon smashing game.
BUT just because I didn't enjoy it doesn't mean other's shouldn't have the ability to play the pvp system. Everyone is different and enjoys different things, even if you don't understand why. (Like one Enigma paladin fighting another Enigma Paladin. First time I saw it I thought it as awsome. Third I was like ehhhh. Sixth, I wasn't empressed.)
No, it's the only reason to play. There are two other possible reasons which have no merit:
1. To PvM, which is utterly boring and repetitive as anyone who's played can tell you.
2. To collect items and build characters. I fail to see what benefit these people get out of bothering to play bnet at all; if they're satisfied simply by improving their virtual selves and don't care about others then why don't they play single player?
In real life, self improvement is fulfilling and fantastic. After learning difficult concepts or finishing a tough workout, everyone feels good about themselves. But getting pleasure purely from improvement in a video game? Come--the fuck--on. There's absolutely no point in improving and reaching the pinnacle of power if you can't compare yourself to others (favorably, I might add) in PvP.
Really, if anyone here thinks there was any reason to play Diablo 2 besides PvP they're an utter fool, and I don't have anything more to say to them. Thus deriding D2 pvp is deriding the only purpose of D2 in the first place, and if you hate D2 then gtfo.
Diablo's 2 PvM was not that boring if you played hardcore. Theres was a huge amount of players that centered at lvling for the ladder, totally ignoring pvp experience. And remenber, it was boring for the good players, for the casual one it was challenging (and D2 IS a casual game by the own blizz words).
What you're saying is nor but forcing your point of view to other ppl head without any good argument, just personal offences by telling others are fools just because you want they to be. You're really have alot of things to learn about rethoric.
D2 PvP did suck but I am looking forward to trying out PvP in D3 and give it a fair chance. They promised us that it will be balanced and tactical just like PvE should be.
They also said that 'PK is out; PvP is in', meaning that there is going to be a dedicated portion of the game with focused development in PvP. I can't imagine what they have in store for us yet, but I also can't imagine that it can suck as much as D2 PvP did. It can only be better.

Yup especially if you play with people you don't know, myself I like clearing out every monster in an area before moving on to the next, most people on bnet just want to shove through to the primary quests. Frustrated and bored the hell out of me. That and I don't have patience for people who loose it and start flaming everyone.
PvM is not boring to play at all. My friends had LAN parties all the time and did that. Not once did we ever duel. PvP is completely pointless in that game and it amounts to basically nothing. And there is no point in perfecting yourself unless you can compare yourself to others?? Wow, you have a really fucked up idea of playing video games. I guess you've never played a game cooperatively in your life, probably due to a lack of friends. Try it, you might have fun.

angelmaz, everyting you say is self-centered and this is annoying the hell out of me so I am posting it.
It is not because it's not your reasons that those reasons can be ignored or have no merit.
Argue against my points logically or don't argue at all. I haven't forgotten that post you made calling everyone against the art design "goths who hate color". By the way, your second sentence literally makes no sense at all.

and stop being a filthy hypocrite, your argument is basically i think pvm is worthless and pvp is the only point to diablo 2. Because i think this it must be true and the absolute opinion. How is that logical?

Yes, the perfect formula. Easy to learn, hard to master. So far I can see Blizzard making it easier to learn, but I do not at all see any indication that it will be easier to master. All I see is some old Diablo players fearing that they won't be able to catch noobs at the learning gate...
yeah but i don't see that being a big problem. Yes diablo is an easy game to learn how to play but old Diablo players already have an advantage of not needing to really learn much. Plus even in diablo 2, the noobs stuck out like a sore thumb. They were just not as good, a lot could not make it through hell. There is a blatant skill difference that is apparent when playing. I'm sure that D3 will be easy to learn how to play but it will be difficult to figure out which skill runes are best on which skills and which skills are best combined as they are putting an emphasis on multiple skills. So in a sense they are getting rid of manual stats and "dumbing down" the game but they are also making it more complicated as they increase all of the skill tree possiblities.

thank you WHITEGHOST! That is exacrtly how i feel. Diablo is simple minded to how to play, but rather complex in how to be good and go about playing the game..alot of beginners dont know what is good in skills, stats, items, and they will run around with one into every skill and pick up every piece of crap that drops lol. I liek that....there should be some skill involved. and when i say hell mode is hard, i say that because it is hard, if you dont go and do run run run or whatever. of course you could take so much time in levling your character and it wwould be that much easier to do, so yes it is a matter of time mainly, but that is difficulty in rpg's for the most part. It is like a turn based RPG, where you should know what items to use and skills to get, but the battlilng doesnt take THAT MUCH skill. Of course you can pour time into it and that is the skill in many ways.
i love diablo 2, and have been playing it since launch...i think pvp is OK, but the true fun is PVM with freinds. I have yet to get board with the game as one of the guys on here suggests. Diablo 2 is far above an average game IMO...matter of fact its my favorite game ever made.
You all worry too much. D3 will be just like D2 in that it will be easy to learn but hard to master. Any one can play it, but how many people master the game (solo Hell on hardcore)?
So, it can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be, as is intended.

I hate to just pop in and insult you, but you started it. You are a conceited, self centered, inconsiderate ego maniac.
I DO tend to play single player. I enjoy it. You have NO right, basis, or authority to tell me why or how I should play ANY game. YOU should GTFO! I enjoy every couple of months cranking up a new character and finishing normal mode in a couple days in my spare time. I think you need psychological help for your issues. I hate to be the one to burst your bubble and crush your life, but THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND YOU. Other people have the right to play the game the way they want to. Until Blizzard knocks on your door falls on their knees at your feet an begs you to tell them what to do keep your mouth shut. Ass holes like you are why I don't spend much time on this site. If you want to spend every waking moment playing over and over to get the best gear so you can have the highest leveled level 99 character, with exact same stuff as everybody else at level 99, with the exact same stat and skill point distribution as everyone else go right ahead. I won't tell you you're wrong, But then I've already covered what you are and thereby what I am not.
Back on topic. I think it's a little early to be worried about casualizing the game since they have already talked about keeping the difficulty levels in which is what prevented this in the first place. Normal difficulty SHOULD be casual, that's what it's for. Nightmare gets a little harder, and Hell harder then that. That's the point. As a little know saying goes: The higher the fewer. (bonus points if anybody identifies it origin)
