read alot of posts in this topic, but i still cant find a reliable source saying the game is p2p.
i've seen people speaking of micro transactions, the only game i remember right now with micro transactions is Battlefield Heroes, wich pretty much is a free game that relies on web page adds for survival, the micro transactions there are just things that make your character look different ( hats, pands, shirts and so on) nothing that gives anyone an advantage, now, if diablo 3 had a micro transaction system that wouldnt give an advantage to anyone, simply make their characters look different, or maybe battle.net functions that arent really NEEDED like guild systems, or account costumization, then it would be okay.
but if by any chance the game is p2p, then i can already tell you that at least 7 people are not going to buy the game, but the torrent websites will be pretty happy that i can tell you.
It will not be P2P. Look around on the forums, there's an interview with Rob Pardo... he says the game will not be P2P, but they will monetize certain battle.net features that aren't in the game such as realm transfers and name changes.
C'mon guys... from what we know about blizz, they rarely make mistakes with the final products of their games.
They will make sure that the entire system of any game will be user-friendly to you and i.
Look at Hellgate!
Flagship closed down because of stupid mistakes and stupid(er) business models.
If blizz has their heads screwed on as tight as we have all come to know and trust, the possibilities of them trying to sell "halloween"* to their customers seems far too far-fetched for me.
Rest assured blizz won't make a mistake.
This is their biggest era at the moment.
They won't geopardize their company.
People are mis-interpreting what was said about Diablo 3. Blizzard says the game will feature optional microtransactions that you can pay for, not a monthly p2p system. In other words the game will have "downloadable content."
As for StarCraft 2 I think the split is a bit shady, especially if the games are priced at $50 bucks apiece. However Blizzard did say that each separate campaign will be as long as the entire original StarCraft, so you do still get a "full length game" with every installment. Blizzard should just sell a stand-alone multiplayer pack for $25 and then sell each campaign as an add-on for $25. There should also be a bundle at launch, selling both together for a full retail price of $50.
The "Three versions of starcraft" are the three campaigns that should be included in the single game, for a single price. I am absolutely shocked at how badly people want to give blizzard more money for worse games.
And btw, Blizzard games have been trash since Warcraft 3, the initial blow to the warcraft franchise. WoW was the nail in the coffin for warcraft. Diablo 3 is the hinge; if they continue to fuck it up this badly, they will not only ruin the diablo franchise. It'll be the last stroke severing the blizzard we knew and loved from the money grubbing, mediocre gaming company it is becoming.
Precisely.

What is normal? Normal is a concept that everyone or a majority of people are the same or similar. However, we know that everyone is unique. If everyone is unique, then everyone is different. If everyone is different, then everyone is weird. If everyone is weird, then everyone is normal.
I dont care about micro transactions personally...
the auto stat-assigning is lame though. Wasnt the diablo series like the first big mainstream games that allowed you to assign them yourself?
but the starcraft news is truly disappointing. The money of wow has truly made them greedy. There will be lots of piracy attempts if they decide to retain this policy.
Ah, you're one of those people who were pissed at the Halo 2's ending? I'm not so sure you can really compare this situation to what happened at the end of Halo 2.
As for D3 costing money to play online, are you sure about this? I've heard different things.
@Killer
Don't you realize that Ikariam is basically an RTS game played as a browser game. How can you not be interested in Starcraft?
One of those people? I think you are referring to the majority of Halo fans. Halo 2 & 3 stories were terrible, but back to blizzard.
- I think making 3 starcrafts was a terrible idea. I mean it was clearly a monetary choice, not campaign one. I mean honestly, the campaigns in RTS games are so limited anyway. Pretty much just replays of a few scenarios with slight variations. Making 90 campaign missions will become incredibly repetitive, they want story? Write some more books. Don't make people buy 3 games just to stay updated on multiplayer, which is what 80% of fans truly care about...
and now to D3...
- Yea, I don't know how much (if at all) blizzard will charge for extra content on D3. Something tells me I will buy it anyway, but not be happy about. I mean while I can't blame them for wanting to make an easy buck, I can blame them for being selfish.
All in all, I will buy everything Blizzard throws at me
all i have to say is gold is going to be the currency, stats points are automatically assigned, and they arent coming out with any new chars........... ive really lost all faith in diablo 3.
i have been waiting since the day i got bored of diablo for a new one to come out....... all they needed to do was get some new items, chars and graphics.... but no.... they have to fuck everything up.
its the same situation as socom and the WARCRAFT 3 game FOOTMENFRENZY both were awsome back in the day..... new people started to change everything... both games are medicore now.
the only thing that changed between the 2 games were the studios.... footmenfrenzy changed from HATOUP to THEBIGGAME and sucked..... SOCOM changed from ZIPPER to some other shitty company and now its trash...
this is what is happening to diablo 3... does anyone realize a pattern"? all the old games are 100000000000000000000000000000000x better then the new ones

this sint diablo 2. its diablo 3. get used to it.
gold isnt the new currency....it just has more value
so what about the stats?
new chars? 4/5 are new chars.....r u insane? lol
ninja, deamon, angel, samuari, vampire, warlord, theif, knight, dont really fit but a monk/ healer class, bounty hunter, or even a time stopper or crono whatever. and thats just typing without stopping i didnt put any real thought into those classes.
diablo 2 had no problems at all, the only thing sorta bad was duping, but it balanced itself out..
spellbooks were stupid and a pain in the ass i never liked them, d2 is THE perfect game
and you cant play mods online with random ppl

I mean maybe im crazy, but...
Um... just as diablo 2 is the diablo 2 of diablo;
isnt diablo 3 the diablo 2 of diablo 2 and the diablo 3 of the original diablo;
I mean, thats kind of how a series works, right?

As far as I'm concerned, the Wizard is a new character. Of course they are going to put in a caster class of some sort, that's a given. Sure, some of the skills might be similar to Diablo II (chain lightning, teleport, etc.) but if you consider the lore of the game, that makes sense. What we have here is essentially a rogue caster who learned some of the skills of the sorceress we saw in Diablo II, but was not satisfied with what that magical path could offer, and so moved over to more dangerous and risky magics. From what I've seen of the Wizard, it's a different enough class to make me happy.
