I'm sure there will be big flaws to their current system as it is, since they cant achieve perfect balance with it.
and you could bet your ass there will be people in Diablo III frustrated at how everytime they do some boss runs with other people they always get the shit drops.
Better to get shit drops then to get no drops at all. I am sure selling them for gold will be alot more valuable than in D2. The big thing about the Diablo series is loot. So guaranteeing loot is much better to keep people playing, no matter how good/bad the loot is, than having the possibility of no loot at all.
How about everyone can see the loot that drops but..
Theres some factor color, brightness of label, label size, ect that tells you what your available to pick up, aka your items. Other people see the same thing for there items.
In a situation where an item drops that is not wanted ( is not picked up by the player who it was intended to drop for, by choice ) by the player that it drops for, after a set time... one minute, something 45 seconds after Exiting combat, for long combat situations, the item becomes available for free-for-all, everyone see's it as there loot and anyone can pick it up.
Eh just an idea, it may be not work well with the speed of the game, I'm a big diablo fan so I know how quickly one moves through mobs, but there has been times when we reach the end of a segment in a dungeon, dead-end, semi-boss and everyone kinda stops looks around at look and then moves forward, not sure if it would severely impend progess. that extra amount of time, but just a quick idea.
(by the way, not sure if it belongs in the MF Topic, but I saw a few others talking about the how one can only see his loot)
Edit: Not sure how drop rates per player work yet in diablo 3 mechanics, this could cause an excess of unique, rare, any items to drop if not balanced correctly before being implemented. On second thought the player could easily pick up the item if wanted and trade/give it away so I guess it balances it self out.
I don't see a need for a MF system especially since entire system might be completely different (and superior). We don't even know if D3 does or doesn't have guaranteed drops and fixed loot tables.
Either way, I could think of a way to improve on the MF system if they indeed included it for some reason. There could be enchants for each piece of gear that grant more or less of a MF boost. That way you would have to only give up some potential combat-oriented enchant bonuses, but would still be able to grind with your top gear VS using crap MF gear. When you don't plan to do any more MFing with that char, you simply replace enchants with something else.
I love to MF but we don't really need a system for it. It's possible to MF without a system. Just do runs over and over, the same if you were on a MF character.
MFing is gay, how are there an enchantments that increase chances? MF should just be based on where you are in the game. Magic shouldn't be able to affect luck. It just makes no sense.
Say no to mf'ing. The game should be about adventuring together and accomplishing feats, not repeating things to the point of barfitude in hopes of getting an edge in the trade market.
shisou....mfing is what made diablo....DIABLO...mf runs, baal runs, rushes, dueling are the BEST THINGS ABOUT DIABLO.... you can take away rushing from d3 and everything will be fine...
everygame must have magic find
shisou shud get shot for sayin such a thing... lol

those were the most boring things about diablo.. also too much item whoring made duping quite popular. Duping wasn't so popular before LOD as it was after that. Also the mf runs were way too easy way to get items in LOD making BOT's so popular since all the bot had to do was enter wp teleport couple times, kill monster gather loot. In D3 this must be harder.
So yeah those things are cool if you want dupes and bots to be around..
ps. stay in D2, I don't wanna see rush,mf,run supporters there. same goes to pretty much everyone that oh so much loves LOD features.
Mf'ing is what made Diablo? You mean Diablo 2, right?
Diablo identified the genre and gameplay style. Diablo 2 expanded and experimented. It also sucked in a lot of ways, but in non-elemental ways so it was still fun. If Diablo 3 makes the same mistakes, the game will flop. Standards are much higher these days. Say no to mf'ing.
I kind of doubt we will see MF. The devs hate the whole "run" concept more than any of us could. People don't experience the content they painstakingly worked on, they just "run" through it. Anything that can assist the proliferation of runs = gone. IMO, of course.

I think as long as they work on the system's to prevent abuse it's fine...I remember using MF gear and feeling like it wasn't helping at all.

Duping would have happend regardless of LOD. Realisticaly speaking saying that getting a lot of an item would make people starting duplicating does not make much sense. Botting, and duping just came about cause it was the time...LOD didn't come out and someone thought "HEY LOD is out, guess it's time to ruin everyones time and effort." doesn't make much sense.
duping started way before d2... remember diablo 1 when you could drop an item, click on it from a distance and pick up a pot out of ur belt at the same time as picking up the item and presto! 2x items.
A magic-find system which gives higher level magic items when the character has a higher magic-find rating.
If you're going down the "diablo 2" path: having a lottery to get any magic item, but a higher chance of it happening is such a system that should be left out.

D2 MFing sucks in parties. You have to be right up close just when the unique monster dies and click like crazy on everything - no time to even look at the colour of the gear.
Best was playing a sorceress as she could take an alternative route into the Tal Rasha's tombs and teleport straight to the gold chests, clean up the gear, whip the monsters into a frenzy and lead them to the door so they could be more "welcoming" to the party, and then teleport to safety and then she could drop her shorts and moon the rest of the party.
Yeah, really fun for one selfish arrogant person but sucks for everyone else.
Hooray for player specific drops in D3. No need to scramble as everything is FAIR.
If you're playing with friends you don't surely want to go around mooning them everytime they miss a D2 drop? Not the way I treat friends anyway.
Better is to take all your gear to Lut Gholein and argue for an hour over everything

Competition for drops are for Bosses only. Other than that Drops are unique to the player.
Is that a fact that its a free for all MF fest with bots for bosses? Disappointing.

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.
Maybe if mf charms were used (charms being the only way to get mf) so to get mroe mf you would need more charms, but with more charms, you have less inventory space to pick up items.
Or something like that.

OMG JUST GOT (insert gun unique name here) WHO WANTS TO TRADE FOR IT
You'll open up a trade window (or however they do it) only to see them offer you some crappy item (potion, gem, scroll of identify)
