I'm probably the minority here but I like the idea. It's entirely plausible.
argument I hear all too often: It's not realistic! We didn't have that kind of technology in this anti-tech planet
me: So... We're pretending the trapassassin with mounted flame throwers and mounted blade weapons didn't exist now?
argument:...Shut up!!!
that said, dude, you lost my support with the cannon mounted on a bicycle. What the hell are you thinking? I'd like to at least pretend that you're not a troll.
The cannon mounted on a bicycle was a troll/flame/whatever against the whole gun debate. The mods, I assume, found it funny to merge it with the more serious discussion of classical firearms. Either that or the moderator(s) in question find it all stupid, which then is bias in moderating. Either way, the bicycle thread should of been deleted, not merged.
Yes, hand cannons could be implimented, and people would love it. Just like they will love the graphical direction when it comes out.

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
in reality you know that's not really the case. You wouldn't be here with 75 posts if you cared so little about the genre
I care a lot about the game, probably too much, and guns are blasphemous in the D3 universe. So not, i'm not exaggerating at all when i say that i will literally SHIT on the game outside on the beach infront of my house, then burn it.

I don't mind simple guns (aka WoW), but bazookas and vehicles (bicycles) is a bit too innovative. Bikes are along the same lines as mounts, which I also don't want to see due to bad implementation of combat in most games excluding M&B. Bazookas would be hard to balance against other weapons, nor would they be really found among such weapons. It would break the immersion for me.
Zoner, nobody cares. He bought the game, thus showing his support for the game to Blizzard to continue the series.
His money, let him crap on his money if he wants. He bought it fair and square. The rest of us can enjoy the game.
did i say i cared if he crapped on it or not? I really don't think so. Don't tell me you're not getting tired of hearing it, it's the umpteenth post i've read today saying that. It just gets tiring after a while.

Actually, M&B's mounts were pretty bad. They were hard to stear and akin to GTA's cars on the PC. Then add fighting, and you got a mess...
If mounts are in D3, I would hope that Blizzard did mounts far far better.

good post. well thought out. i think its entirely possible but not very probable.
but then again what do i know?
(nothing)
It's plausable, and very realistic if put in a historical sense. But not probable, no. Blizzard will stay with a generic hack and slash most likely. Hopefully though someone will make a single player mod that will add firearms akin to handcannons...

aww don't put yourself down, metal! That's not very metal at all
Agreed. Putting yourself down is stupid. You should stand up for yourself. You are a living being and deserve respect. Now demand it!
Guns in Diablo could be pretty amusing actually, provided that they're there for shits and giggles rather than as a core part of the gameplay imo. Slap em with like a 80% miss rate but massive damage, 1 hit KO's or something along those lines and we could be install for some pretty fun gun fights in DIII
They can make it so that there's only a total of say one or two guns you can find in the whole game. Make em unique drops like someone mentioned earlier on in the thread (sorry I forgot your name!), or an easter egg item like Wirts Legs or even a quest/'adventures' item if you wanted to
Hope not, and I have a counter to the Asian influence argument:
Perhaps it will be based on Feudal Japan.
They were quite possibly the only country to *ever* completely reject a newer piece of military technology that was far more superior than the current one: the Katanas the Samurai were using at the time (During the European middle ages... but Japan was in their feudal Samurai age, basically a glorified dark age).
When the Samurai and their warlords (I can't remember the specific terminology) realised a few poor peasants with rifles could kill upper-caste, elite samurai that had been trained for a lifetime wielding the best swords ever forged, without even having a chance to get up close and kill their opponents, and that these peasants could easily overthrow them, they managed, despite everyone trying to invade each other and become shogun, to collectively agree to slowly regulate out the manufacturing and selling of guns as well as firearms training.
Cannons and guns became useless as no one knew how to use them. (Despite their being of extremely high quality - guns that were crafted in the 16th century were used in the early 20th century with little modification)
Speak of the devil... Just talking about this thread...

I agree. And we can do the same with Bows, because a Long Bow would do way more damage then a hand cannon of the same era.
FUCK BOWS! TAKE ALL RANGED WEAPONS OUT!!! *eye roll* Idiots...the whole lot...
Hey guys, lets go grab out pistols and cap some diablo ass!?!?
uh. sorry. no thanks.

Seriously, can ANYONE READ?? We are not talking about a 9mm glock or a 10 guage shotgun, we are talking about goddamned historically accute guns. Jesus fucking christ.

I'm supprised the mods merged it with the more serious thread of midevial age firearms...
