For those that do not have the time or energy to watch the video and wait for it to load... Here is the question and answer:
IGN: Alright so, I have to ask this because our fans wont stop emailing us, but us, or readers I should say, fans of you, but uh; Whats going on with Diablo? Paul Sams: Diablo... Well uhm, its obviously a very important franchise to us. And I would say that as with Starcraft and Warcraft, we will certainly get back to it at some point. We're focused very much on World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King and the content updates associated with World of Warcraft as well as StarCraft 2. We do have some other things in development that we're not ready to talk about, but what I would say is, is that we love that franchise, and its something that will get revisited at some point.
If you watch the video, he seems a little surprised at the subject of the question. However, I dont think this has anything to do with what he may feel is a lack of activity, interest, or development. I think its just the fact that he is conducting a mostly Warcraft oriented interview, and when the interviewer said "all the fans keep emailing us, so I have to ask" I bet quite a few things went through his head about features that did or didnt make it into the expansion, and then he gets hit with a Diablo question. As obvious as the subject is to us, it may not have been to him at that moment, therefore surprised him.
Also, as 'closed doors' as Blizzard is, I doubt he would mention 'things in development', unless it was directly related to the question at hand, and he didnt have much choice but to mention it.
So this pretty much officially confirms, as officially as a confirmation will get before an announcement, that they are infact working on it. Blizzard is just the kind of company that does not publicly announce they are working on a game from day 1. They have a kick ass cinematic team that is recognized worldwide by the computer graphics industry, and their game development is obviously damn good as well. So when they do announce something, they dont want to just mention it and let the hype slowly roll along over the next few years. They want to hit you with an amazing short video that will hook you, and then rather than release a few trailers over the next few years during development, they immediately show you a working product, and let you see first hand what to expect. They like to start with a bang, and build ON TO IT, not start with nothing, and build up to it.
Cant blame them there. They'll announce it when they are ready.
They also said they weren't working on StarCraft II for all those years.
Yep Yep.
Alright EVERYONE. I have said this so many times. DON'T WORRY ABOUT DIABLO III. THEY WILL MAKE AND RELEASE IT. SO MANY BLIZ PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT THEY ARE AND WILL CONTINUE ALL THREE FRANCHISES.
I have been trying to relieve stress from people so many times whether or not Blizzard is going to make a sequel/prequel to Diablo.

Those before me shall quiver in my wake as I unleash the fury within!
If I remember correctly they said the same thing about Starcraft II only a few months/days before its announcement at WWI. We have said it many times... it's not like he is going to hint that they are working on it. In some ways he has by the "other things in development we arn't ready to talk about"
This is not official by any means, but its a good hint that they are workin on Diablo 3. It was 9 years in between Broodwar and SC2's annoucnement. With almost no hope that Blizz would continue the Starcraft series. We Diablo fans have only had 6 years since the release of LOD, and so with that I think we can wait a little bit longer.
Yes WoW has been the whore of the company, but there is nothing we can do about that now can we?
Yeah, a few days before Starcraft 2 was announced, he said that they had no plans to announce Starcraft 2 at this time, but "it was a franchise they would like to revisit in the future"
I don't really think the guy should be surprised. You'd think he'd be used to question about D3 by now, they must be frequent.
But honestly, I agree with you that D3 probably is under development. All the rumors and such are just too much. The author interview, the music crew that worked on Diablo, and that job request all seem to be pointing the same way, at Diablo 3. I don't think all of those can be coincidental.
When it's finally announced and when it finally comes out, however, is a bit more of a worry for me. Hopefully it won't take two years after they announce it.

Appreciate what you've got because, basically, I'm fantastic.
Diablo 3 was heard many many many times that it will possiably be the MMO new project they were talking about in the past. i think it might destroy diablo's view and just make it a copy of WoW sort of if its a MMO. it has to stay the way it was the first diablo and seocnd diablo but way diff ways of playing and such. MMO seems fun in some ways though and seem more better but it might just ruin the diablo-look.
DGLG why wont you go somewhere like the WoW forums seems like your more like a WoW fan. Go to your fantasy shit World Of Gaycraft and have fun. When diablo 3 comes im gunna shove the news right in your face hahahah >;]
I speak Croatian, and it's more like a dead language.
Something like this:
Ti si jebena pedercina, nadi si jebeni zivot i pojebi nesto(ne, ne govorim o zovotinjama kakve uobicajeno jebes nego o ljudima...da jebat ljude, to bi ti bilo novo iskustvo)
so you talk to yourself?
"Dead language"
well anyway go fuck yourself if you just wanna keep talking shit about everything..... go take a Midol and calm the fuck down.... D3 is coming.....

In Blizzard Forum some guys said that half a year ago, Blizzard bought, "some" servers, those were more, than they already got for WoW
we got that report as well, and according to someone that deals with servers, he said that the servers bought were way too much for WoW. apparently blizzard could replace all the WoW servers and still have alot left, along with the older replaced models. im hoping its for SC2 and Diablo, since they are going to be placed on battlenet. and hopefully we get a battlenet v2 because the current battlenet is full of hackers and such.
Will Starcraft 2 have a monthly online fee? If it doesn't there's some hope.
Thats a good point, if SC2 is still on battle.net and is free, theres a pretty good chance that Diablo 3 will be too, although, there didnt seem to be too much of a problem when everyone had to pay for World of Warcraft, so its very possible it could be Pay-per-Month. Its about 50/50 at this point...
paying to go online and play a computer game with ok decent graphics is a waste of money unlike if you are playing xbox you pay to play super high quality games if its not that good quality why pay although diablo is ver fun it does have great quality graphs.
