My understanding was that morticks would be an overpowered item because it would boost your glvl by 5+ on a single slot. Wouldnt a DOD that boosts at least 8 glvls fall into the same catagory?
You realize we have 23 fetishes with huge st (but no aoe)? The dagger is much stronger than the bracers. Look at the leaderboards, wds would be pushing 48 in broken jade if it wasnt for a single slot item.

Barbs are pushing 53+ right now. ALl of them running Insanity rune for dmg. Think about they having damage mitigation from other runes. Have you tried barb? They have good life regen from WW, combine it with 50% less dmg, give them a PURE DPS gear to them and They would not die anymore.
edit: What happens to WDs if DoD is removed? As You said, They go back to 48s, becoming nothing in compare to other classes.
Well you know. If Barbs were clearing 48 without Motrick's then motrick' would be justified, on a single rune surely, maybe even on multiple runes. But they push the highest rifts on the leaderboard even without it. With motricks 60+ would be the standard which would by far beat all the other classes, and as blizz said they want more balance.

Have you even seen the runes for WoTB. i dont think you have. DoD doesn't even compare to all runes of WoTB. you gain 5000 life per fury spent, 50% reduction in dmg, 20%+ increased in dmg, splash dmg, splash dmg as fire per activation.
DoD enhance single target damage. DoD wouldn't even be OP if you still have piercing dmg and all runes of poison darts. Morticks gave healing, toughness, damage, and AoE

It still wont help them kill a rift boss twice as fast (barbs only problem). While a Dod will clear the rift 2/3x faster. Rift guardians arent a problem with the wd.

Well, I cannot understand your point, so you want Barbs doing +8 rifts than everyone else or do you want WDs doing -7 rifts than everyone else? And both of the options don't seem resonable. Most of the classes and builds needs at least 2 specific legendaries, some of them needing even more than 2 and super rare items, so I can't understand your point and none of your arguments seem logical. You said that WDs clear the RG really quick, and yeah, they do, but this isnt pushing then to the same level that Barbs are doing, buffing barbs or nerfing WDs would just be crap. Instead of claiming to remove the only strong WD item you should ask for more strong items, not removing the only thing that is making them viable.
Krider has to roll good to be competitive with other weapons, a non ancient dod is > all weapons ancient or not (unless a zdps wd). Im also talking about solo. Group play is a bit of a joke atm.

Barbs still take 5+mins on the rift guardian and cant kill raziel (ghom etc) unless they have the right neck on.
Im just saying its hypocritical to remove morticks for one reason and leaving dod. Maybe fix the class so we arent dependant on a single drop (that doesnt seem to drop).
Theres not hypocritical in this, actually it seems to me that your problem with DOD is that you can't drop it, well, it's a farming game after all. Besides that, leaving Morticks would create a desbalance between barbs and all the other classes, and if you play Witch Doctor you would prefer your class underperforming even more just because you can't drop an item that ISN'T the rarest one from it's loot pool? As I said, I cannot understand your point. Claiming that blizzard gives WDs more bis items? Seems fair enough. Asking for Blizzard do bring Mortiks back just because you can't drop an item? Doesn't seem logical at all.
And ok, barbs take so much time on the RG, but guess because of what? The build has to be balanced in some point. As they clear the rift so fast, they must have a problem with the RG, otherwise it would create another problem besides Morticks. You can't have it all.
Don't forget about 3400% wpdmg on spellcast, crits having a chance to deal 300% wpdmg and 5354 hp per fury spent (which is a shitload of heal if you spam battlerage and endlessly ww)

Season 3 solo WD highest clear is a 56. Barb is a 57. You're argument is invalid.
