Just spotted this on the Blue Tracker and wanted to get it some exposure.
This is highly important as it is not apparant it is a waste of time to try killing the wardens without getting 5 stacks. Then you only get a CHANCE at the key. This was never communicated until now and I now understand why I had such piss poor luck of farming all night.
Currently, both the keys and the demonic organ pieces (Vengeful Eye, Devil's Fang, and Writhing Spine) have higher chances to drop in higher MP levels, all the way up to 100% in MP10.
I don't want to weigh in on the current argument of whether or not drop chances should be affected by Monster Power level just yet. Obviously, we think it's a good idea and worth trying out, but if you feel differently, then I'd definitely like for you to continue discussing your thoughts on that topic. If you don't like it, tell us why. (Or, if you DO like it, be sure to weigh in too.)

I killed the act 3 keywarden on MP 10 once and the key didn't drop. (didn't have any NV stack though)
You'll need five stacks of NV in order for the keys and the demonic organ pieces to drop.
We felt this was a reasonable requirement, otherwise players could simply farm the keys in a lower MP, then set their game to MP10 and farm bosses for guaranteed drops. With the five stack, players will at least need to be able to kill monsters in that MP level in order to benefit from the increased organ drop chance.

Are you saying that unless you have five stacks of NV keywardens will not ever drop keys?
Yup. (Or, at least that's how it's designed to work. If players are getting keys without the five stack, then that's likely a bug.)
Earlier this afternoon, I had a key drop from the Act III Warden while running beginning of Act III (siege of bastion's keep/turning the tide) before 5 stacks -- so somewhat confuzzled by this blue post. In fact, based on where I found him, you wouldn't even have a chance to build 5 stacks -- so:
A ) I can accept that it was a bug that the key dropped without 5 stacks but . . .
B ) this would be an extremely silly place to put the Warden in the Act if 5 stacks is a requirement.

Based on the last part Lylirra said implies you may have run into a bug. It's either that or she's got out dated information.
And who said you need to kill him just cause you see him when you don't have 5 stacks?
You can bypass him you know?
I didn't say there wasn't a way around it. Just said it would be an extremely silly place to put him. Why would you put him in a place where you had to bypass, backtrack, etc, etc. It's just bad game design / location if this is a bug and it does require 5 stacks for the key to drop.
Yes, also aware that you could also load a later quest and port around to get 5 stacks but it just seems a bit counter-intuitive is all.

From what I've seen of the Keywardens in my time farming them is that they have random spawn locations all across the maps they are in. At the very least, the Act 2 Keywarden does.

Please, consider using brain to read things properly. You need 5NV stacks to have 100% while MP10. But you can get it in any circumstances, just without 100% chance.
What is wrong with people today? Why must you go off on people for talking about what Blizzard employees have stated. Please read the thread before insulting everyone in the thread.

In case you want another quote....

If the keys drop at a % chance for each MP level, up to 100 at MP 10, it's likely that MP0 = 0% chance, MP1 = 10% chance.
This is my guess as well. Now, keep in mind that Lylirra did not give any actual numbers regarding the percentage except for 100% at MP10. So the percentages for other MP levels are simply my conjecture.
the key wardens do spam in MP0, I killed one in MP0 and MP1 no key of cause, the one on MP1 was way tougher and had a elete pack with it which did not help.
Do we also need 5 stacks for the last piece in act 4? I've done two 5 stack kills of the guy there at MP5 and didn't get it. I understand that if MP10 = 100%, then MP5 should be 50% and that I've only done two runs, but they take a long time....
i have a tally going of the act 3 and act 1 key wardens. i started out on act 1 warden on ML4. I didnt know at the time about the 5 stack, so i'm sure i only ever had 2-3 stack from elites in that map. Went at him 7 straight times, no key. So, i said screw it. Went to act 2, still didnt know about the 5 stack rule. But did my normal farm route, and got a 5 stack anyways because i was also inspecting the gear drops and other changes, like the new shrines. then i ran into ole dervish key warden on the far right of the oasis. Beat him down till no health showed, and he didnt die, so i thought the bug wasnt fixed yet. But, i kept pounding on him anyways in frustration and he actually died about 15 seconds later, and i got the key of hate in one try. Kickass. Went to act 3 to see what this guy did. Still no knowledge of the 5 stack requirement. Played him about 7 times also and took a break for lunch. Then i saw the post on the front page of this site and was like...damn. So, now, i've farmed act 3 warden in stonefort 4 more times, with a 5 stack and no key still. But i also moved it down to ML3 for the Act 3 guy because the elites around him were crushing me with arcane and fire. havent tried the act 4 piece yet for the plans. I was also having a lot of server connection issues and super lag issues tonight. And it seems like right when i get my 5 stack i would get dc'ed. Super annoying! Or, whenever i get a damn achievement it either lags me bad or dc'ed me.

Pretty sure that's all the context we need. Maybe YOU need to pause and read.

Just NV and MP.
