Not trying to claim its a Impenetrable argument, just the first thing that came to my head when thinking about the RMAH coming out tomorrow, making it easier and safer to buy power with money than it would have been is a bad thing IMO.

You're right, there is a power for money thing going here, and it will effect PvP, but not the way you think. The people who earn their gear are going to be extremely good at using their character from having to have farmed act 3/4 inferno for hours upon hours. On the other hand, you can ding to level 60, spend $100 and get a badass character, but you'll get DESTROYED in PvP because PvP is going to have a matchmaking system similar to Starcraft 2. This means the people who are legitimately badass and good at playing their character will have a massive advantage from those who just bought it and jumped right in.
The people who earn their gear are going to be extremely good at using their character from having to have farmed act 3/4 inferno for hours upon hours.
Farming A3/A4 has absolutely nothing in common with fighting players controlled characters. There will be no desecrator / waller / invulnerable minions, you know.

Plenty of games do such a thing, it's not taboo. Just because a lot of games DON'T do it doesn't mean it's a rule that all games must abide by.

Fact is, in D2, the power structure was almost entirely ruled by people that bought their items and even entire characters/accounts.
Blizzard has recognized that it is no more possible to stop the illicit trade in virtual wares than it is to stop teenagers from fucking.
What Blizz has done is sanction the transactions in a safe environment while making a cut that will give the players a higher quality, better maintained free online gaming experience for years to come. As well, this measure will do well to shut down many item "stores" whom previously made a 100% profit from selling game items.
Personally, I don't buy items. I wish the practice could be abolished. The fact is that it will never go away and I'd rather have the practice sanctioned and controlled by the developers instead of spam-botting bottom-feeding assholes.

Even if there's an item on the Real money auction house you can sell items or gold to get currency for it. Believe it or not money doesn't magically appear out of nowhere. If people want to spend money that they had to work for in real life to get something in game then let them. If you don't like the Real Money Auction House don't use it. No one is forcing you to. You will be able to kill inferno diablo without it if you have any skill. You will be able to be very competitive in PvP without it if you have skill.

Alright, they remove RMAH, so insted, you buy gold from 3rd parties or pay them for the item.... or buy a whole account with the entire item set and 30 of every gem.
In EVERY game you play, there is a method to attain power for money. Just because in this one it's being directly controlled by blizzard you decide to shit on them and say it will ruin the game.

Edit ~ An example where skill > gear. WoW, you can deck someone out in full BiS gear, and they will still be utter trash. In D3 it will be to the same extent, shitters will be shitters. They will use bad skill combination and runes, use health pot at wrong time, not know how to avoid abilities.
Power for money, or pay2win, whatever you want to call it, has been an intrigal part of the diablo universe since D2. It's always happened, and it always will happen unless Diablo is changed to have a Bop / BoE system, which doesn't work for this type of game.
It's not a terrible thing, because the items aren't generated by Blizzard in unlimited supply. The people selling have to actually find it, and seeing how hard it is to find really, really good items means the RMAH will never be flooded with the best items, and furuthermore means that even people willing to pay won't automatically be able to find the item they want. This also leads into the fact that when someone finds the item, and then sells it, the power has now traded hands. It hasn't been duplicated. It really actually does not effect you as a player, that someone else that you'll probably never play with, either found the item or payed for the item. The bottom line is that there will still only be 1 item (for this example) and it's traded hands. Whether this was from a friend gifting it, or someone trading the item for gold / items / or real money.
So no, in conclusion this sytem for Diablo 3 is not a bad thing, at all.

Gear =/= skill, Yes gear DOES help you do better, but if you're shit, gear won't make you go pro.

Blizzard stated at the last Blizzcon during the PvP panel that the PvP would be based off of a combination of your hidden rating as well as your gear rating. So no, it won't be poorly geared/good players vs well geared/bad players, you'll be paired with people who have similar gear to you as well as similar skill.
