I keep reading your posts damning Blizzard and they're decisions. If you dislike them so much and dislike all of the changes they've made to Diablo III, then why on Earth are you still here? Totally not trying to be an ass, I'm just curious.
Because I'm deeply disappointed by how people do not react enough to these things and I -will- keep pointing these out. People need to know, I couldn't possibly stand there and just let everybody say how glorious it all is and not whine a second.
There's many things being killed off in gaming and I always find it funny when people don't see why one would stay around fan forums with that negativity. Its so much more important when so many people are blinded by Blizzard or people like you just couldn't give a damn (just a fact, you have the right to not care but its still a problem, because way too many people don't care). There are things at stakes here that not everybody has to care about, but I will not stop spreading any hate that is deserved.
Nah, never used D2 mods anyway. D3 will be cool as is.
My thoughts exactly. I've never used a mod in D2, haven't installed any and I've been enjoying the game as it is for the last 12 years. So, why bother.
Know what will also keep the game alive? The content they will be constantly adding, as well as the expansions every year and a half.
I still find it odd how people blame a company for making money from their products. How dare they!
Make great games and ask us money for it, will you. Add extra safe services, which are completely optional and charge minimal fees, outrageous. I want everything for free, cause that's how the world works, damn you! Rabble rabble rabble!
Not quite.

So because people don't over react and get offended by the fact that Blizzard does what they want with their game you find it funny? It's unfortunate that you need to allocate so much of your free time to unnecessarily bashing and flaming a game company because you didn't get what you want.
And as for the second underlined sentence this is, as you said, a FAN SITE for FANs for people who like the game, and that's why we don't understand why you feel the need to hang around and be a dick. You think that Blizzard is such a horrible company who means you no good, and only does things to piss you off. But maybe you need to realize that the loudest voice isn't always the right or most supported voice.

Designation15 pretty much hit the nail on the head.
You know, you're acting like you're out to convince all of us of the truth behind your cause, like you're on some sort of a crusade to stop the evil company who didn't give you the candy you wanted. The fact is, you're not converting anyone here, you are merely annoying people who want to have a good time talking about a hobby they enjoy. You're making a loud noise and people are just looking at you fanny, out of pity mostly.
Because the only person unhappy here is you, and frankly it will stay that way, until you change your attitude, or leave Blizzard to their 'evil conniving schemes'.
The sad thing here is, you bring the most negativity here, not Blizzard or the fans.

Of course I am. Thanks for the obvious. Blizzard trying to sell their amazing products and fans slawowing it whole. Of course there ain't any negativity in that. Its just plain sad, mind you.

So your answer is essentially just "suck it up"? Right, because that makes for such a better world.
I'm used to being the minority, by the way. And I'm not expecting to convert this whole forum. What, do you really think I'd have so much faith in humans?
I frankly don't care about any of you that only see a "company making money" or "people enjoying a hobby". Gaming is an art and people are murdering everything grand about it, and nobody gives a fuck. And you expect me to shut up and leave?

Touché. I would prefer getting expansions as first priority, but also some in-game content, but not at the expense of expansions. Two different teams working those separately.
One thing I do want from in-game content, it's prolly to much to ask, but they must, make the outdoor environments' outline non-static. Big task I know, but must not be nearly as random as dungeons. Where dungeons have, lets say 100 different rooms/areas-pieces in total, each dungeon consisting of about 10-15 of these random pieces.
The outdoor layout on the other hand, can't be done this way: Each Act/area have different environments, thus, each Act/area can maybe have 10-15 different area-pieces max. Resulting in 40-60 different area-pieces in total for the outdoors.
Sorry, kinda talked myself into a corner now
Anyways, yeah that didn't go so well, they can then prolly just release an expansion instead of the shit I just tried to reason... <_<
What about no.
No, my answer is to go play or do something you enjoy. You know what, I loathe Sims with a profound hatred that I cannot explain, I actually gave it a try but playing it made me physically ill. There are three games now, each with around ten expansions, and it adds so very little overall. Now that's the world's best super money making scheme. Do you know how many times I've gone to Sims forums to inform its 'weak minded masses' of their stupidity... ZERO TIMES.
Do you want to know why. Because they actually enjoy it. It's what gives them happiness on this tiny speck of gloom we like to call a planet. And I'll grant them that much, because it makes them happy. I'm not going to go tear down something they've found enjoyment in, just so I can make me feel better about my own little sad existence. No, I'd rather come here and share my anticipation with others who love Diablo.
What's your excuse for being here? Since you intend to achieve nothing. You know you are fighting a battle you cant win. And you're spending your time with people you don't care about. This isn't V for Vendetta, there are no great evil corporations to destroy to save the downtrodden. This is the real world, and Blizzard isn't out to get us.
And I like it how you call us blind. Like we are all newborns and never made any mistakes before, however, in your thousands of years of life you've seen it all and look down upon us mere mortals with amused disdain. Dream on. We know what is happening around us and what Blizzard is, and we know it and accept it. Some of us approve and embrace it.
What exactly has Blizzard done to you to piss you off so much? Please, just let me know, I'm very curious.
Oh piss off. If you don't understand what is getting killed then I'm not going to make you. This is obviously about much more than you can fathom.
Oh you're so right, because I have a different opinion and I don't go around trying to force my opinion on people about how horrible a company is for doing something I don't like I am obviously an ignorant fool who knows nothing about what is going on. Oh and you can't make me understand what is getting killed because you aren't going to make me? More like you can't because you don't have a way to.
I'd rather just have all of the community playing the same game. I'd prefer no mods, but I am not totally against it, I just think it is counterproductive to split the community up in order to "increase the longevity" of the game.
I will only play Diablo content that is released by Blizzard so it really doesn't matter to me, but having no mods benefits me the most.
If it weren't for the unethical hackers out there, who exploit source code left exposed for ill and personal gain, the modding community, which is full of brilliant coders and loyal fans, will have to suffer. It's a damn shame.
But don't blame Blizzard. Blame the crooks and assholes who abuse open source.

Not allowed to comment on the news post so I have to comment here: "Modding Ain't Dead" is extremely misleading and practically a lie.
Perhaps someone will find a way around this, but until then, it's all speculation.
There's zero speculation. There's no way around missing the basic game rules functionality without emulating them. There's no way of emulating them that won't piss Blizzard off. There's a reason they want to force you to play on their servers, not playing on their servers is exactly the thing they will go after.
What sort of thing do people mod anyway? Maps and such?
The mod I used most recently gave a shared stash between all characters similar to that seen in d3. It also gave an infinite number of stash pages and expanded stash. It further let you respec your skill and stat points whenever you wanted. In addition to an extra page on the character screen with stuff like magic find/gold find and other interesting stats. I think its called plugys mod or something.
Not quite.
For free? Who's asking for stuff for free? Produce quote, please.
Since I know you won't (because you can't), let me give you another answer: I don't want (neither expect) anything for free from Blizzard. I just want their game, in exchange for my €40 or €50, and then I want to be left alone, to play when, where and how I want to. If someone wants to bother trying to explain what's wrong with that, I'm all ears.
If I'm not mistaken, he's being sarcastic...Your rage is misguided, since he didn't mean anything in that paragraph of his.
I find that the moment I use a mod for a game, I can no longer enjoy that game. I loved Oblivion until I started using mods for it: the fictive dream was destroyed.
Once the game was released, they will try as much as they can to control the market. Then hack and dupe, emulator and crack will happen (inevitably, however it will still take quite a long time with blizzard's current approach). Few years from now (6 or even 10), the economy is wrecked, people started to lose interest, they will open up offline mode with the last expansion, thereby enabling modding.
I am okay with the "no modding" thing, because it is tied to the online only. Which means I'm also okay with the online only, for two reasons. 1) I was going to do that anyway (and I honestly don't care if you weren't, I'm buying games based on how I am going to play them), and 2) It will make hacking (not modding, hacking) more difficult.
As to how much more difficult? I do not know. But something needs to be done, and if this is what lets me play a game without hacking/bots, so be it. Because I basically had to stop playing Borderlands online because of all the stupid hacks/mods in there. And not just mods where some jerk shows up and starts shooting a bajillion rockets at once, slowing everyone down to a crawl, but the mods that look like a normal item, and then fill your inventory with undroppable crap, or ones that automatically give you super shields and health, thus not just running that game, but the whole stupid save file.
Normally I'd say I'll except the bad to get the good, but when it gets that bad, its just not worth it.
I think modding can be done after a long while, if they get a workable offline mode or something, I really hope they do and I really hope people make mods cause I'm 100% sure those mods would be simply A W E S O M E ! to play. Just as alot of D2 mods like Eastern sun and Back to hellfire and even d1 mods were super fun to play and just simply amazing I can't wait to see the potential D3 mods that will hopefully come.

That's a mighty slippery slope you're standing on, mate. Slopes like those can lead you to things like warrant-less wire tapping or illegal searches. But hey, don't blame the cops/politicians...blame the "crooks and assholes" who abuse free society.
While we're on the topic of fallacies, you've managed to include several in your rebuttal:
1.False dilemma: "If you support private enterprise protecting their products from theft, then by definition you also support governments violating your rights." It sounds ridiculous when you repeat your argument without using the second fallacy you employ:
2. Appeal to consequences of a belief: "I believe that a private company protecting their own intellectual property is a violation of my rights, therefore if I support Bliz protecting their intellectual property, I also support the government violating my legal rights." You're assuming your belief is true and using the consequences as the reason. Circular.
There's some old wisdom that I follow: If you set out your wallet in plain view and leave, someone is eventually going to take it. So don't leave your wallet laying around.
Is it legal to steal a wallet? Nope. Do I support stealing wallets? Nope. Do I leave my wallet laying around? Nope.
Bliz is keeping their code server-side for the same reason that banks keep money in safes: Because if people are provided no restrictions or restrictions without meaningful consequences, then the greedy and immoral, selfish, power-hungry crooks will fuck things up for everyone.
