Hey guys,
reading all the recent talk about the AH, the real one that is, you mostly notice that the issue that
bothers most people is that fact that people can basically buy strength - especially when we have a
no-error system, meaning you cant get stat and skill points 'wrong' because there are none.
i think that Inferno items should be a kind of status items, like achievements, as if Inferno is "The
real life Diablo experience (excluding Hardcore obviously), meaning that a guy with tons of money can't
just get to 60' buy tons of good items from inferno - and in turn, can also use them for amazing achievements,
PvP, etc etc.
I would've written this in the official D3 forums but i can't log on for some reason.
id love to hear your thoughts about this, and if anyone wants to post it there, he is welcome to.
Why do you think blizz are making these crazy looking , hard to get weapon and epic gear? Make more money off the RMAH .
I have no doubt that inferno weapon will sell for 500-1000 USD for a while . Windforce used to sell for 300-400 USD on ebay back when LoD was released .

Unless you think this will increase the volume of trades, this is completely inaccurate. Flat fees don't go up with difficulty level. If anything, inferno creates a smaller loot table of items that will hold value significant enough for the RMAH, meaning fewer potential transaction fees.

People will pay whatever they think is reasonable, there's no stopping them. What does this have to do with setting an arbitrary mark at inferno? I bet on day-one, some rich eccentric would pay a hundred bucks for something from nightmare mode. Should we restrict the rmah to normal mode loot then?
I think we're in danger of (or simply are being steered toward) another general RMAH rant, which really serves no purpose. Either the RMAH exists and any items can be traded between players over it. Or it doesn't exist. There is absolutely no reason to have some combination of the two.
I actually thought this wasn't a bad idea, because it seems like kind of a middle ground between the crowd who doesn't care about the RMAH/wants to buy items with real money and the crowd who feel like the RMAH detracts from their achievements in some way. So someone could buy a really awesome hell character fully equipped, but to get an inferno-grade character they would have to earn it from there.
But how would it work? I'm a wizard who gets an awesome two-handed sword in inferno. I can't sell it on the RMAH, presumably I can't sell it on the regular AH either because someone could basically buy their way into that too. The only way to keep it completely off the market is to somehow make it so that I could only trade it for other inferno items. If that happened, I think in the end it would make an auction house totally worthless, because people would only be trading inferno-grade stuff.
Why don't you just suggest that any items a wizard gets from drops can't be on the RMAH because they can teleport? Or maybe Blizzard should make it so that Barbarians can use their Whirlwind ability, but they can't get loot because people playing Witchdoctors don't have an equally awesome ability to Whirlwind.
You tried to mask your intent behind "Inferno items should be a kind of status items, like achievements." What you are really saying is, "I don't want people to be able to buy Inferno items." Why not just be honest and admit that you are biased against the RMAH. Would your "suggestion" apply to the Gold AH as well? So, you are wanting all Inferno end-game items to be Soulbound?
Let´s give the game a run and check out INFERNO before making suggestions for changes,,, as I see it they have made an awesome challenge for us and I can´t wait to test my witch doctor.
Yeah... people will want to buy inferno items and if they cant, then they wont bother with the AH at all. If you can't buy the best then why the hell buy at all?
Inferno items will be sold.
Here is why they might buy at all...
I will mention that Inferno difficulty will most likely require the best gear from hell to even stand a chance in inferno. People may choose to buy gear from Hell just so they can play inferno and get the rarer gear and not have to pay the higher price for it. I forsee gear from Inferno being extremely rare and pricey... despite the stated increase in rare drops %. The rarest of the rare will still be very hard to get in inferno. I have expectations for how rare the drops will be. I expect them to be very rare despite it being more difficult primarily because the kill rate will be soooo.... much lower.
Why do you worry so much about rich boys buying the best items?
In PVE you can not play with seriously overpowered characters, in PVP they will be matched to other people with similar gear. Also, they will bore from the game quickly, because if they buy all best items, they will have no interest in playing anymore.

Yeah, those rich boys may end up making the game better for us assuming blizzard reinvests that money into the game. I'm all for that because if more content is added to the game... most of the stuff they bought becomes useless anyway and they have to keep buying. Rinse, and repeat. The result: Better game for us.
PS: Other than PVP the only other reason I can think why people hate bought players, is because of the chance they may play a game with said bought player. That bought player may get more kills... which is fine... but one of the satisfying elements of the game is killing. If said bought player has all the kills or most of them... what fun is there for the other players? They sit around most of the time unsatisfied. Of course, at that point they can just leave the game :). I have friends I'll be playing the game with and if they are not online ill try make more friends whom I know don't buy gear. Just make friends in game and play with them.
The advantage of having four players also makes it more unlikely to come across a bought player.
I throw the word bought player around all the time... the truth is... the gear has been found and is floating around in the game no matter what. The only difference is... instead of it being stored in a chest, its most likely to be worn now. The frequency of high level items in the game won't change. The AH takes those stored items and brings them into the light. So don't blame buyers, its not like they are buying the item out of thin air... it has to be found first and then bought. The only thing that's hated is how egotistical those players can get... which I agree can be annoying. But I like to believe some players are more down to earth and understand what they are doing when they buy an item. They rationalize the time and effort spent into looking for items that they never find into finally buying the items.
I agree that the D3 team should implement something, anything tangible to illustrate prestige. The only thing that does this currently is the shrine/crest portal in town for players, but there's nothing visibly on your character.

Why so dramatic? lol. i think the RMAH is an awesome idea.
But i do think that some things should be earned, for me it feels like buying achievements.
i think that achievments are pretty much one of the best things in a game is the achivs, and if those items
were Inferno drops only that are soulbound (i do think thats a good idea actually) it'd be a really amazing
distinction between the Epic D3 gamers and everyone else.

Thats it!
Well the epic D3 players will have achievements on their banner showing what they've done. While someone may have the gear they won't have the accolades. Also I will be wealthy beyond belief =D.

I could be wrong, but i thought the hidden match making ranks were from win/losses only, not gear. Is gear also a factor? doesn't make sense, considering I could be a brilliant pvper, pop on some bad gear and keep smashing lowbies for fun.

Lol very true, every time i try to fight against the RMAH because my epeen will shrink in the presence of someone who has bought their gear, i just think to the scenario where the best sword in the game drops, I don't need it, and i feel like making a couple hundred bucks. =D $$$$
Who cares if people buy inferno items? its not like hitting the level cap will be hard and then everyone can do inferno anyways, the fact that getting the items is a time consuming grind doesn't make it hard or a challenge in softcore, so why wouldn't they be sellable on the RMAH?

Inferno will provide achievements for people to stretch their e-go, and even cosmetic items in some cases.
People that buy all their Inferno gear are going to get bored very quick and quit, not to mention probably sink a lot of money into it.
