Beta Closing and Patch 17 Information
In case you missed it, Blizzard will be shutting down the beta on May 1st. However, this will not be until after patch 17. You can check out all the goodies patch 17 will bring in this thread.
Unlock #4 - Developer Diary III:
On May 3, 2011, Jay Wilson, Christian Lichtner, and Jason Regier reconvened to discuss some of their biggest challenges going into the Diablo III testing and localization phases in this third video installment of Developer Diaries.
Darkness Falls. Heroes Rise - Monk
Today starts the first day of the Monk on the Diablo III promotional site. You will have until Tuesday to unlock the Monk sigil for your own. With this, also comes to release of the short story for the Monk, make sure to check it out!
As always, a few things to keep in mind if you're still not fully sure how this site works.
If all you care about is unlocking your sigil, Simply go HERE, Select Monk, Next, Next, Enter your nickname and Battle.net email and check box in TOS, next and you're done!
Email notifications are now working, so make sure to check that!
You can enter as many times as you want for the hero of the day contest.
How you customize your banner DOES NOT affect what you unlock. You are only unlocking the class sigil.

No Server Lists
There are no individual servers. Everyone in a region can play together. (Source)
Loot pickup
This is only an issue with the Beta since the Beta content ends with the Skeleton King fight. In the full game, you will be able to run back into that room, pick up your loot, and continue on your adventure. (Blue Tracker/Official Forums)
Jay visiting Korea When will you visit Korea?
Next week. (Source)
Twitter Did you guy send out emails for the demon hunter sigils? I made one during the time and got the 'success' page but got no email
The email thingy was broken for a few days, but we got everyone's submissions. Fret not. (Source)

Final two weeks when all classes are unlocked. (make up time for people that missed a sigil) (Source)
We were first treated to Christina Sims's amazing female monk cosplay at BlizzCon 2010. There, she dazzled us with her craftsmanship and creativity, showcasing one of the most epic Diablo-themed costumes . . . ever.
Today, we're delighted to share photos from a recent photo shoot that depict Christina's rendition of the Diablo III monk on a perilous (and beautiful) trek across the shifting sands.
I like how they even said they had their date and everything. I really hope when it gets to the later ones, they tell us what the EXACT thing is that pushed it back (main thing)
for whoever it was that wanted me to post next unlock info each time

It could have just been a lot of little things that didn't feel complete, and the developers needed extra time to take the stress off their shoulders to think more clearly as to what they can do to make it better.
It kind of angers me watching the three stooges speak about how they feel they are close to getting a final product out. Granted, they spoke with a slight tone of uncerntainty, but it just makes me feel uneasy that it has taken this long.
On a side note, think how much even more the community would have ate their lunch had these videos been released a year ago? lol . . . I can't even imagine--absolute anarchy.

You can kind of see that they are very nervous. I am also curious as to how the realization that things were not working came about. Who noticed it? It seems like they have some idea that something was fundamentally not working in the last video. They look like they are all eating a shit sandwich.
Makes me wonder why the huge fundamental flaws were not noticed/solved by the internal team before releasing the Alpha to the whole company. Why would the rest of the company find these flaws? Did they make things "too hardcore" and they needed other Blizz employee "noobs" to play and complain about things being too complicated, etc?

I'm telling you, they're not going to. Bad PR, man.

oh I know they won't say exactly. Its a false hope that i'm fully aware of. I do think they will touch on the basics of the issue though. But still.. I do hope they do ^_~

So do I. I doubt the answer would really change my mind about anything, but I would like to know anyway.

I doubt it was one huge issue. I think there are too many checks and balances (especially in a company that size) for it to be a single issue. From working in teams, I know that you often have to make compromises. Sometimes a large portion of the design team may be in favor of something, and the two people who are against it just go along with the flow or reluctantly agree. The end result is a combination of these compromises, but sometimes the end result is something that nobody wants. I think a lot of them felt there were different things wrong, but they all agreed it wasn't a Blizzard quality product.
Of course this is as much speculation as the "single issue" theory/rumor, but I feel this is more based in reality.
Am I the only one that would take "The balloon is shrinking man..." from my boss, as a scoff? They all seem to be desperate to put a positive spin on it xD
One or two interviews is fine, but are most of the unlocks going to be a developer interview? None of the interviews give information people want, just statements that Diablo III is almost entering beta. Why would we want to know that? What I would like to see is a (short) gameplay video of something we haven't seen yet. A fun quest or just some hack n' slashing. That can't be that hard to create..

We're getting one of those a week for each class.
He does have a point though. Why show us video footage of some, now irrelevant, dev's interviews a year ago? I guess it is better than nothing, but I would much prefer to see a "making of" clip, or even the devs PvPing against eachother or something fun like that . Not a big deal, just seems kind of cheap, which is Blizzards M.O. when it comes to releasing Diablo goodies apparently.

Sorry to change the subject here but..... I thought the Monk short story was the most enjoyable so far :Thumbs Up: ! Of course I may be biased because I love the monk so very much!

Very nice pictures by Ms. Sims! I'm not into cosplay, but that is a great outfit.

The short answer honestly is "we got in over our heads and the issues kept mounting so we decided to cut and run."
