Players currently feel that Attack Speed is one of the "required" stats, and blizzard does not want this. They have two ideas to fix this and are looking for feedback on them. They are currently leaning toward the first idea.
Really?
Players feel like they don't have a choice when gearing because there's only one good option. Blizzard's genius response: nerf the good stat so to force people to choose between stats they don't want - hey, now you have more than one choice! Now you get to choose between several stats you don't want! Awesome design!
I usually don't use foul language in forum posts, but I just can't hold back any more. I'm so fucking tired of all the idiotic design decisions that Jay Wilson is making (or approving). The new Diablo 3 team is just doing a piss-fucking-poor job at designing this game. It's laughable how many terrible decisions they can make without truly considering their impact outside of a narrowly confined scope. I really think I made a mistake considering D3 a day-1 buy. It's fun, but they're butchering it, and I don't like paying for a beta.

I disagree. Prices are still in the millions for weapons and prices will remain high if people can still afford to pay them. The rich Inferno players can afford this and will continue to pay.
However, gearing up isn't all about weapons anyways, it's about your armor, rings, and amulets. Prices for these items are still in the millions.
I imagine that once the RMAH comes out (clicking on the RMAH ingame says "6/12") prices will immediately spike up again. This will affect gold prices too as there is a direct conversion rate between $<->G.

I love this video, thanks! You've got pretty nice gear, too. I'm very jealous of your attack speed gear (fellow Monk player).
I'm a bit dismayed, however, that those of us who are "late" to the Inferno party are really going to miss out on the AH. Why? Because all those who got to Inferno early were able to make ridiculous amounts of gold by selling their drops (many of which are below lvl 60) to other players who are still leveling up, thus depleting the lowbies of gold and making themselves richer. At this point the early Inferno players now have a lot of spare gold to spend on good quality lvl 60 items which forces the prices UP (since there is both high demand and players with very deep pockets to spend from). When us lowbies (I'm still in Hell) finally get to Inferno we'll be unable to sell gear to make profit as the market is already saturated, and our relative lack of gold will make us unable to buy any of the better gear.
*sigh* what a terrible cycle to be caught in. It's pretty funny though, I'd love to look at the statistics, but I'm fairly certain that much of the gold in the game funneled from the "general" playerbase to the early Inferno players. We effectively have duplicated the 99%ers vs 1%ers in Diablo 3.

All of the "Diablo III - Race to the Finish Contests" spam at the beginning of news articles is really annoying, takes up a lot of space, and has actually prompted me to go to other D3 sites for news.
Just FYI.

I agree, it was a comparatively bad video, especially for a 100% unlock, hype-builder.
Agree.
Yes, the D3 one was a major let-down compared to the SC2 one. It really didn't build any hype at all, whereas the SC2 one got everyone excited.
Yep. The best pre-release cinematic for D3 that actually built hype is the dark soul stone cinematic. This cartoon video is probably the worst, with the class reveal videos being much more hype-building.

Latency is not the same thing as bandwidth!!!!

I agree with Jay but I think the skill-UI redesign made the game a lot harder to figure out how to play. I've played the Beta with both the old UI and new UI and found the old UI much much easier to use. The new UI makes me jump through hoops to get things done and I dread leveling just because it means I'll have to go fuck with the UI to access my new skills/runes (this is compounded by the fact that the skill/rune you just unlocked is not easy to discover).
I really hate the new skill UI and feel it did the exact opposite of what Jay wanted it to do: it made working out how to play the game difficult and irritating. It was honestly enough to make me want to stop playing.
Also, Jay's excuse about wanting to hide the "elective mode" skill option and keep it as "tribal knowledge" is complete BS. He's plainly admitting that they're actively designing a bad user experience by (1) making a setting that should be default not default, and (2) making the discovery of the setting difficult to find (this is a no-no for good UI). I really want to set up a google trend search to track just how many people need to hit the web to find out how to change the skill settings. If this number is high enough it will be a clear indication that blizz killed the user experience with this "improvement."
My 2-cents.

Man, I much preferred the older HUD art direction. And boy do I hate the new skill selection UI. It's so fucking HUGE and I hate the new system, it's a pain in the ass to figure out what new skill just got what new rune. It's horrible to browse through your skills with as well. Just blegh. It's so big and yet you can't, at a glace, see all your skills.

The short answer honestly is "we got in over our heads and the issues kept mounting so we decided to cut and run."

I'm telling you, they're not going to. Bad PR, man.

I'm underwhelmed by most of the Barb armor (especially the later tiers). The DH armor looks pretty good over all, a bit repetitive though. WD is unique and has great helms. Monk armor was disappointing, it was mostly big WoW shoulder armor (which is sad because monk will be my main). Wizard armor is nice, but repetitive, and I'm hating the WoW lock shoulders at the end. Blegh.
I'm sure the armor will all look quite different when we apply dyes to it, but on the whole I'm a bit disappointed in the armor sets. They're not as epic as I would have liked (as are most WoW armor sets, garbage).

Yeah, it's really not a big deal - at all - I just love nitpicking to get back at people. In this case Blizz for their PR failure in regards to D3 delay. That's all. I'll enjoy the heck out of it on May 15th.

And I doubt Blizz will come out and say "this is what we messed up on that held up D3." They'll never really admit anything bad - it'll all have a positive PR spin.
And I don't think you got what I was referring to. The video was released today, a point in time where we know that Feb was NOT the last year of development. Why not update that tag? That's all. Just sayin'.
This. How out of touch is he really?
