I've been playing around with a wizard build lately and would love to get some feedback. I'm not really very good with theorycrafting and designing builds, so I'm sure there are a million potential problems with this build, and I'd really like to hear what you think they might be.
I took hydra+arcane hydra rune+temporal flux passive to give me a 3rd offensive spell that I can cast once every 15 seconds and just let it do its thing, with it's thing being a decent DOT that does both AOE and slow. The arcane power seems low enough that I can just recast if enemies and I end up moving out of range.
I took magic missile as a primary offensive spell to take advantage of the temporal flux passive, runed to do more damage. I'm very unsure of my secondary offensive spell but the sleet storm variation of ray of frost sounds like it could have potential.
Teleport is a must for me, as it gives an easy escape when the shit hits the fan. Energy armor seems essential for later levels, with the absorption rune sounding like a great way to quickly generate arcane power.
I'm not sure about the last slot, but archon sounds like it has a lot of potential so I'd like to try it out.
Other passives: blur for damage reduction, and still unsure on my third passive.
"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
You've got a melee-range rune on Ray of Frost, but then combine this with a defensive skill to get out of close range (Teleport).
I'd decide if you want this build to be close range or long range. If it's close up, you should consider more close-quarter skills (Wave of Force, Diamond Skin, etc). I'd also swap Magic Missle for Spectral Blade in this case.
If you're going for the kite/kill method, then I'd suggest Arcane Torrent or Disintegrate for your spender. Magic Missile is a good single target skill, but you need something to deal with packs, - Arcane Orb could also be good. Swap out the rune on Archon (as you won't be getting close to monsters anyway). For kiting, you don't need Blur either. I'd swap for either Prodigy or Arcane Dynamo as you see fit.
I gather that you took the melee rune on RoF as a way to spread you distance from mobs when they get too close but that virtually leads you to have no [non-sig]ranged dealers at all.
In it's current state you actually only have two active attacks; magic missile which is a sig and a close ranged RoF. The rest is basically support of some sort.
What I would suggest is including some way to deal heavy damage and do ranged AoE because primarily depending on magic missile [even with the support fire of a hydra] will likely fail seeing how it isn't enough to pull through even the Beta.
They are all right, this build is bad man, you have virtually no chance at killing a ranged attacker, 1 hydra can be cast at a time, Arcane destruction means you have one 450% damage every 120 seconds I would say Improved Archon at best. It is like he took everything that could be situational and put it all into one place... Absorption with energy armor isn't too bad but it has no support other than power hungry, Prodigy so that you get ap back when firing, or arcanot or astral presence would all be good additions to it since your enegry is a your shield....
Your playing checkers at a chess tournament man, lots of power/strategic moves but they don't link together and no real end game...
in fact, the end game, would be your end because you probably wouldn't kill much outside of archon form
Four spells that you used are there, damage higher, meteor shower with arcane dynamo could give monster damage per meteor (if AD is calculated per meteor) somewhere around 980% total weapon damage from all 7. Which would make you a monster on the battlefield Defense good and energy armor will be fueled the entire time. RoF with AD should be 490 % weapon damage....
I kept it in because you had it in your build, but I'm of the belief that a build with Archon, should be built for archon.... like this where every spell releases explosions when something dies and could easily farm critical mass to get archon and in this case enduring skin up very very often...
IMO, as a wizard, you should have more support than damage. Using frost nova helps you and the melee so that the barb/monk can do some combos and you'll probably be wearing more MF gears than others. If you want to do somewhat of damage, you should try to get either blizzard or meteor (comet rune) with black ice (gives you 20% to chill/ frozen target).
I guess. There's just so much wrong with the build that going through all of it would take too long.
understandable
but instead taking the time just to quote 'bad'?
no
It was more than worth the 3 seconds it took, just for the comedic value.

ignoring all the trolling, here's what i'd do for wizard.
electrocute with Prodigy is my arcane generator, arcane orb my major power spender and has a slow thru temporal flux, frost nova and wave of force in case monsters get too close (but i'll be behind a monk and barb, so not often), armor with energy tap for higher power pool, archon for teh ultimate pwn4ge

which is why it's being a jackass
Thats what makes it funny. That's how jokes work...someone has to get hurt in some way, like being offended, for them to be funny,

Thank you very much for the honest critiques. I mostly have no idea what I'm doing, so anything people have to say that can help me I will certainly listen to.
I stated quite clearly I'm not good at any sort of theorycrafting and/or making my own builds, and that I was sure there were many problems with it and wanted feedback on what those problems were.
Elitist jerks on the internet? What a novel concept.

There is really no doubt that Antirepublican is just a troll.
