rrr....
This is a serious post. Like said if for some reason my play-style sucks id like to get some pointers on how to improve. After all this is a forum where one can ask for help, is it not? I have worked very hard to get where i am now with my barb and if i can improve myself even further that would be nice.
When i engage mobs i dash out a few hits to get fury going, then get BR up and start ww around the mobs. From time to time i rend and get WotB up with elites. In smaller aera' s i ww through mobs.
In higher MP i get killed easily from elites.

quirkitized posted a message on Harpoon Cleave Spec. Video + Build.**Another one of those 'try out this build post'...Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Like every barb out there, I played whirlwind endlessly, and tried the 2H hammer build, and been trying other builds. After playing around with aoe specs, I use this build for farming keys, MP8, and Ubers MP6 (I have only tried mp6 uber so far). The video is MP8. Ultimately I wanted to try a cleave/aoe damage spec. This seems like it's worth it. There are a couple different abilities you can use, and runes, I'll explain why I chose what I chose.
I have no idea what gear level you need for this. Keep in mind i have zero life on hit, only 2.8% life steal with 450-500 resist, but also have 3pc IK, -20% melee reduction and do mp8. High damage and crit, lots of crit is what you want.
Video (this is just an act1 key run, elites and warden. Skipped a bunch of trash.):

Spec and stats. http://us.battle.net...3/hero/13347415
In video, I was testing out SOJ & Hellfire ring . 98k unbuffed, 138k w/shout. WIth my dps rings, 112k unbuffed, 151k w/shout.
Resists 450-500~
LIfe on hit: 0
Life Steal: 2.8%
Armor: 5800~
Health: 51.7k
Crit: 55% (49% w/hellfire ring)
Crit dmg: ~400%
Atk speed: 0-6% depending on ring useage
Passives:
Ruthless
Weapon Master
No escape
Abilities + Runes
Cleave - Broad Sweep
Rend - Blood Lust
Leap - Call of Arreat
Wrath of the Berserker - Insanity --- OR -- Overpower
Battle Rage - Marauder's Rage
Ancient Spear - Harpoon
Spec Info, ability choice explanation
Cleave - Broad sweep, overall was the best. The extra flat damage felt better overall than the other runes., You don't need the extra fury, or the scattering blast, or the slow. The only one left is Rupture, which is actually very very fun on lower mp levels with mass mobs grouped up. When you slay multiple enemies at once with a cleave swing with rupture rune, everything just dies instantly from the explosions.
Rend - Blood lust for the heal, the extra dmg and extra range runes just arent worth it to lose the heal
Leap - Call of arreat to group enemies up for easier cleaving & rending. Change to iron impact for more survivability.
Wrath of the berserker - It's either the 100% damage or the thrive on chaos rune. I found the 100% damage better, as with this spec you cant burn enough rage to keep thrive on chaos going.
--OR--- Overpower - You can use overpower inplace of wrath for more consistent flat damage, as it's another AOE that you can use instantly while using other abilities, unlike revenge. Also, cleaving multiple mobs helps reset the CD faster. A few good runes, just use your favorite.
Battle Rage - Take the extra flat damage. Bloodshed was the only other decent one for this spec because of the AOE dmg from when you crit, however I found it not worth it over the extra flat damage.
Ancient Spear - Harpoon. This is a must have for this build. No other rune is worth it. You want lots of crit for this to be effective. The passive ability (no escape) allows the cooldown to reset when you crit. So if you can harpoon lots of mobs, even with a lower crit rate, good chance it'll reset the CD.
Play style
It can vary but this is basically it. Jump into mobs + rend + cleave, then pull more mobs in with harpoon, refresh rend and keep cleaving. Or you can start out with a harpoon + rend. Always, always make sure rend is ticking. It heals and does great damage especially with crits.
For elites, jump out of frozen, jailer, pools, etc, and harpoon enemies back to you. As long as you can take the hits, try to always pull more enemies into you, to rend more mobs and get more healing.
Some mobs you cannot spear them back to you, like tree's for example. You can use the spear, if it crits, as effective range damage.
Last note, if you go against a fire chain elite, or have tons of mobs on you, sometimes the game is trying to process all of those hits and your character will 'spaz' out, do the dodge animation, and you'll feel lagged. Sometimes it's hard to get a rend off, and you'll die. So every once in awhile just step back a bit and then rend.
End
Whirlwind is still better for faster farming. Hopefully some people enjoy this spec though, it's a hell of a lot of fun. It's also great for group player, especially with range classes. Just pull enemies back and tank them for your range friends. -

For the farmers who only care aboout farming efficiency, blizzard have sought you out with MP1/2, which should gives you MF/GF bonus while making it enemies easier to kill.
For the rest who aren't looking at the stop watch to see how long a run took, then feverishly working their calculators and spreadsheets to determine farming efficiency, MP4+ gives you a great way to challenge your skills and character.
For me, 1.0.4 was quite simply boring.
1.0.5, different game. New builds that are quite fun to play (for those whinging, look into it even if takes away from your farming efficiency as the process will not maximise your GF/MF).
For me, MP4 is more of a challenge than 1.0.4 was, MP5 is a genuine test. Both are great fun to play. -

NICE, I just need a ring like that so I can stop farming for one.
I just need a decent ONE so I can go back to farming whole acts.
I just include key runs as part of my farming. Do the run, then go to the keywarden. -

JKlimek posted a message on Amulets in the 1.05 (PTR)Perhaps a lesson in statistics is necessary for those of you that don't think prices will drop drastically?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
4.5% crit chance is top now on rings and is an outlier. If rings then suddenly roll to 10% those 4.5% rings become way less valuable. esp with the rings now rolling stats based to the monster level instead of the random drop level. If every ring you drop rolls ilvl 63 stats now instead of the 20% or whatever chance you had a ring to be lvl 63 before, you're going to have waaaay more 63 lvl affix rings rolling around (~80% more). A 4.5% ring was valuable before because it was the max value and now it's going to be less that even half of that high value... i mean seriously, how can that not be a huge reduction in price? Compare the difference in price between two trifecta rings, both with high crit dmg and high attack speed... the one with 4.5% crit chance compared to 2.5% crit chance... the difference is Millions and Millions. -

Sorry man, but those points you bring up, while valid, are only a drop in the sea comapred to what really makes this game not fun for extended periods of time.
As far as I can tell, the top reason for people quitting is that in order to be efficient they have to sit on the AH a significant portion of your play time, and those who went past that point by either screeching teeth or just liking spending time on the AH, are getting bored of being encouraged to just farm stuff they can kill with extreme ease and repeat over and over, preferably using the top-of-the-line build that involves lots of movement speed boosts (see: sprint/whirlwind barbs, which will remain by far the fastest post 1.0.5 because you will still be encouraged to farm easy stuff and the nerf wasn't severe enough to bring the build in line with other builds).
Lack of build diversity and boring items is a big one too, but not as important as what more directly causes the players to get bored and quit (too much time needed on AH and farming easy stuff repeatedly).
You are entitled to your opinion, but I spend 99.9% of my time playing in game, not the AH and I have 78 million sitting on my character right now, not bought for real money.
Also, the point about farming is a little silly, considering that farming in an ARPG always gets easy if you get strong. DII was even sillier in that reguard.
Diablo is about the loot.
I will give you the fact that it's boring to farm loot when you don't need it anymore, it was the same way in Diablo II, however, farming loot in Diablo II even when you were beast was usable in PvP, and the same will ring true in DIII once PvP is released.
I also don't think the items are that borked. They just need to make it so 7 affixes can roll on a rare instead of 6 and add in a bunch of % chance to cast based on "x".
I.E.
A chest armor with 15% chance to cast frost nova when hit.
Or, a weapon with 18% chance to cast diamond skin on crit.
Or a belt that has 13% chance to cast fan of knives on dodge.
This is the only thing that needs to be added to rares to make it cool, and remember we still have an expansion to come, where we will likely be able to add sockets for a fee [the jeweler could do this in the blizcon builds] and the third artisan that lets you add an affix to an existing item for a fee and crafting materials.
In the blizcon demo, you could add hatred regen to an axe if you wanted.
They have stuff planned for the future, it's just about getting the core game right now, and I think that lies within fixing the free roam, dueling, followers and legendary and set items that still suck. [They don't all suck, but there are a bunch that still are completely useless.]
With those fixes, combined with the new content they have planned for the expansion, I think DIII has a very good chance at surpassing DII as the greatest ARPG of all time, I sincerely mean that.
Especially with the introduction of Monster Power and the Infernal Machine and Paragon levels.
DII had 99 levels. DIII at launch had 60, it now has 160.
DII had ubers. DIII will now have Ubers.
DII had PvP, DIII will have PvP.
DIII's items aren't as bad as people make it sound, I'll admit getting them to roll with all the affixes necessary is a bit broken right now, but just like they are fixing everything else, I'm sure this will get better with time. We can already see an improvement with items rolling from monster level instead of item level.
So you need Mainstat + Vital, other than that, it's pretty much the same as DII, with the exception of + to skills.
In Diablo II, you had +1 to Bash.
In Diablo III you have +10% to bash damage.
They are the same thing, infact, the higher damage you do base, the bigger difference you get out of +10% to Bash damage.
And tbh, if they want to add an equivolent to +to all skills in diablo III, all they have to do is add an affix that adds "+10% weapon damage" "+20% weapon damage" and "+30% to weapon damage" since all skills are based on weapon damage, raising weapon damage raises the skills power. Really simple stuff.
We need more gems, we need charms, and maybe we could see the return of jewels -- but jewels could have affixes like +% to a skill on them instead of +Mainstat, and the item system is fixed.
P.S.
Diablo II was broken when it came out too. It also lacked runes and jewels and charms until LoD. And half of the cool uniques were added in LoD too, same with set items. Immortal King's was an LoD set, Ral Rasha's was an LoD set.
Do you guys not remember DII's launch? It was rebalanced every patch, and what did that mean in DII, not only did you have to regear, but you had to re-roll and start over, because your build didn't work anymore and there was no respec.
DII didn't get really good until LoD, and even at that, not until 1.09. That's real talk. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Currently, we can see our best time for the highest greater rift we've completed with each type of character. But I would also love to see my best time for each greater rift level. For example, even though I can complete level 65 greater rifts, I'd still love to see my fastest time for a level 5 greater rift, or level 25 greater rift.
This would make it enjoyable to attempt speed runs on each greater rift level and would promote speed builds that balance speed and damage. It adds a lot of replay value to lower level grifts and makes leveling up gems a bit more enjoyable. Imagine what the Leaderboard times for a level 1 greater rift would be!
It's easy to implement, adds another fun solo goal to play towards, and adds another level of competition to those looking for world's best times.
Thoughts?
