I think most ppl will start playing ladder, and maybe not really care about noneladder some time, so imo theres no point in saving anything :).. only you gear so you can play your chars :P.
Unless there are some awesome casual player catering items ladder-only, like low-level runewords in D2, I won't play ladder.
I HATE losing all my achievements and character progression just because some Wizard of Oz decides to push the magic button. It goes against my definition of RPG. Hopefully I can stay away from ladder and gear up my character for years.

Conclusion: You have way, way, WAY more free time to play than the majority of the playerbase (not the majority of biased sample of people who post here, but the full playerbase). Of course you are finding a ton of legendaries - the game is now balanced around giving the casual players a shot at finding epic gear, as it should be.

Are some of them worth a ton of money/gold? Sure. But the same is true of rares, and you probably find 50+ mil rares at about the same rate as the top legendaries.
If you continue to fail to recognize this, you're setting yourself up for a massive disappointment that will possibly end in a broken keyboard and a rage quit when you FINALLY see orange text only to discover it is a poorly rolled Tasker and Theo.

It was a joke. I am well aware of how long D2 was out, and how long it will be until D4 comes out if they ever decide to make it. I'm also very much aware of the fact that Blizzard has stated many times that they view the story of D3 as the conclusion of a trilogy started by the original game, so are very uncertain if there will ever be more games in the franchise.
By the way, I'm 30. Certainly not the oldest here, but old enough to be mildly insulted at being referred to as one of "you kiddies."

My conclusion from my one data point: there is no conclusion to be had from my one data point.

LOL at thinking being paragon level 25 already is "playing casually."
"Playing casually" is logging in for an hour or so after the wife and kids go to bed a few times a week. A friend of mine qualifies as such as "casual" player, and he just hit Paragon 2. I'm at level 9 and already play more than a good fraction of the players.
Don't define "casual" by the people that post here - there's too strong of a selection bias in effect.

Eventually the game will settle down into a much smaller community. Then the expansion will come out, fresh waves of emo whiners will come back, rage that they don't find 1 legendary for every 30 minutes of playtime, and quickly move on to the next hot new thing.

I don't have anything close to 200 mil, so I have nothing to offer you. But god damn my wizard would look sexy with one of those.

No.
