Predicting that Blizzard will remove the 100% chance of Elites in Festering Wood dungeons in the next patch now. Sigh.. :-(

They already nerfed Festering Woods. It is still worthwhile to hit up, but it isn't remotely game-changing like it was before.

Watch Tower is better, honestly (and you can reload quickly to get it).

I thought it was funny in Act 4 when he 'lost hope' and then before you fight Diablo, he's all - hopeful, again. Such a mood swing, not manly at all.
He lost hope because Auriel (the Archangel of Hope) was captured. Upon freeing her hope was restored to the heavens. It wasn't exactly a "mood swing"

Yeah, but he isn't part of the heavens anymore :o. The thing that pissed me off the most how they made all the souls of the evils magically appear in the black soulstone. They were just like oh Adria did that... wtf

Actually, Auriel's capture affected more than just the Heavens.

Look around the Keep area when you're on the quest to free her. It's pretty well-done. The entire town is filled with despair, and a married couple even commits suicide.

posted a message on Inferno Act 1 Watch Tower nerfed?
JUST saw this on my current run through.

Teleported over to the ledge with the resplendent chest and got jumped by three elite groups at once (I had already killed two groups on level two as well before this as well).

As you can probably imagine, I died.

Yep, I saw 6 packs on the second floor once. I was just amazed because two sets of them pulled in groups of two, which is unusual (elite groups usually don't spawn that close to each other, but it happens sometimes - just not usually twice in a row).

Usually, I find 2-3, but I've found as low as 1.

    Edit: Single player game.

Well at least they finally acknowledged it. That's a start.

The bug has existed since launch, not just 1.0.3.

Yes, if they hit you with their Charge, you are pretty dead. The best way to fight elite Oppressors is to stay ridiculously far away and move lots.

My point is that they worried about something that doesn't mean as much as the game being fully functional on release. Did they use beta to see if people liked the game or to see if the game worked as close to "functional" as possible? I know that optimally, both should be achieved or should at least be the goal, but were either of them even near achieved?

What part of the game isn't functional? Out of the box, the game works. It may not be what people were hoping for, but from a functionality standpoint, it seems just fine. Being a Software Test Engineer, things like this peak my interests.

I'm referring to what was considered one of the worst game releases ever by many sources. I don't care about the NV stacks or skill swapping or any of that. I'm referring to beta being so short and seemed to have a severe lack of stress testing that caused the launch to be... well... poor. So many class changes were made in recent patches that have virtually made previous achievements for some DH's and Wizards pretty much worthless. Do your best to do the tedious balancing act before people actually beat the game. Don't wait for people to clear content and then be like "Oh guys, hey, they did that too easily, lets fix it!".

The game launch was rocky, I'll give you that, but "one of the worst of all time" is an exaggeration. For example, World of Warcraft's launch was much worse. It took them a month before they could get the servers stable, and they took the entire game offline for 2 days less than a month after launch to address stability issues.

As for the difficulty changes, this isn't an MMO. This isn't about what you can "achieve".

There were like 10+ threads on the front page of D3 General complaining about the lack of "skill permanence" every single day, even before the Beta was launched.

The other half of the threads were people complaining about the people who complained about the lack of "skill permanence".

It is absolutely obvious that NV was designed as a compromise between these groups. You can use the Internet Wayback Machine to view the forums back then if you don't believe me. It was the #1 complaint about D3 from D2 players in Beta and pre-Beta.

It is likely that the general sentiment against NV now (in this current day and age) is because the game now has a much bigger audience than just the Beta and pre-Beta followers.

As a side note, I got my first two legendaries (well since I was a low level) today - a Goldskin and a Cindercoat. I was less than amused since most people with around 180-200 hours on their toon have seen better legendaries than this (at least my friends have).

Eh, the only real valid complaint I see here is that "+15 Minimum Damage" probably shouldn't be able to be rolled on a itemlevel 61 item.

The bottom for that stat should be like +50 at the least.

posted a message on Attack Speed and Patch 1.0.4, "Confirmed" World First Hardcore Inferno Diablo Kill, 1.0.3 Bug List, Poll
I voted Hit and Miss even though my reaction is more like 60% Positive 40% Negative right now (and I'll be more positive on these changes in the future - I'm just qqing over having to give up my IAS weapon).

    Positives:
    • The bug fixes were VERY needed (IAS fixed on new legendaries, some rubberbanding fixes, general chat perference stays between sessions, report spam now mutes the player reported, Lyceum spawns now, etc etc)
    • Technically, this is a bug fix... but: DOT SPELLS CAN CRIT! HOORAY!
    • Better balanced loot tables for Inferno
    Negatives:
    • IAS Nerf. This needed to happen but it still sucked that it had to happen. It really screwed up the economy and probably fucked over a lot of players (luckily I sold my IAS weapons when the patch hit the Blizzard servers last week and was datamined).
    • Magic find on chests/environment nerf. I want botters punished and I'm not a big fan of people chain-farming one location in 1-minute long games for 10+ hours, but there has to be better solution than this. Every time I go up to a chest or other object, it just doesn't feel the same.
    • Not technically a negative but I am disappointed that they still didn't fix major, obvious bugs like the Oppressors hitting targets twice with Charge or the fact that the Battlefield Reports don't spawn.

Also, they're now listing Oppressor's charge hitting twice as a bug and not intended behavior in their "1.0.3 Known Issues" sticky.

Thank god for that - wasn't fun taking 140k hits back to back (though I imagine it is quite easy now either way).

Lvl 60(62items) crafts will remain at 50k gold??

The datamined info suggests that everything will be nerfed including ilvl 60 and 61 crafted gear. The only thing not nerfed from what I know is the "Grand Exalted" stuff.

Honestly, considering my DH in 60 blues can outdamage my Wizard in gear worth about ~10 million (since I actually get survival stats), I feel that Demon Hunters will still be fine after this patch. They'll probably still be the best ranged class (and if they aren't - that's fine too - you can't always be the 'best'), except on Siegebreaker. Impale with the Stun rune is not bad against Champions and Bosses, and (believe it or not) the Dual Chakrams rune is actually quite good.
