I'm not sure why everyone is so upset about Blizzard releasing a new feature.
I guess the majority of the player base is just upset about the current state of D3 and are venting their anger. I fail to see how releasing the armory is a bad thing though.

Interface changes to the AH ; they had this in development before, and i can hardly imagine it requiring weeks of testing to add one more option of searching or what not.
The 99% sure to come in 1.0.3 of being able to compare shit on AH - Did not make it. Just hotfix that in? If it's 99% sure, it can't be like they just can't put it in, and it's not something you need to ULTRA TEST before either.
Speaking of Bugs - How about hot-fixing the waller bug? Where mortar still shoot at Melee in strange curves because of Walls being recognized as you are far out of range, hmm?
These are things that are actually really f'cking annoying, don't require weeks of testing and really does break the immersion of the game, and further more just serve to be rage inducing because it's such small issues that i repeat, DO NOT REQUIRE weeks of testing, just a f'cking fix.
No joke. There's nothing wrong with bug fix patches but how about they actually fix the bugs that matter then? -

They would be penalized though because all the gear they spent gold on is now worthless.
Also, some people really like MF as a stat and the idea of balancing it with damage/defense. This would negatively affect these people in a big way.
I wouldn't believe that a ton of players payed a ton of gold to get mf gear..
I actually found all of my mf gear myself.
Still, I think those players would agree that what, 1mil gold at most for all their MF gear wouldn't be a negative effect in a "big way".
I mean if a player is farming a lot, invested that 1mil in MF gear, that means he farms way more than 1 mil and wouldn't be impacted by that at all.
Anyway, maybe not the best idea, but still I think its way better than what blizzard proposed.
Oh I agree, I like it better than any of the suggestions from Blizzard. The people that like the concept of MF on gear would be pretty letdown by that solution though. -

A lot of things had to be implemented before release. But since they have to patch basically everything, I guess they could do something like that too.Quote from Ankwadene
This could have worked if implemented before release.. I think quite a few players will be very displeased if MF was removed entirely..Quote from Karalius
I guess no one will ever read this post, but I had an idea of my own.
Remove Magic Find as a stat on gear.
Add Magic Find stat that you can acquire after you hit level 60.
For killing a set number of champ packs, you receive 1% to your Magic Find stat.
Permanently.
After 4 months of grinding, your character reaches a cap of 150% or 200% or whatever Magic Find on that character.
Congratulations, you just solved gear swapping by creating some "end-game" for players who liked to grind to level 99 in d2.
How much money/time/gold has been spent in search of MF gear? For many, maxing MF is END game.
Anyway, players wouldn't be penalized, if they have Elite Kills in their profile, its easy to award them the MF as if it was implemented from the release.
They would be penalized though because all the gear they spent gold on is now worthless.
Also, some people really like MF as a stat and the idea of balancing it with damage/defense. This would negatively affect these people in a big way. -

Hang on, hang on a sec! Are people honestly saying the swapping gear at the last second is fun?
That's why I created a macro to do it for me, because it's tedious and not fun at all.
Option 4 please.
Personally I dislike all of the choices but I agree there's a problem. I dislike them because all of the choices have negative effects that hurt people beyond the group that wants to switch gear right before a champion kill.
#4 is the 2nd worst offender and I think the only people voting for it are oblivious to the way many people play the game. Some people have multiple gear sets and for example, switch in a shield while encountering specific affixes. #4 and especially #5 completely removes this option from the game.
Any solution that has side effects is a poorly thought out solution. -

I think #2, #3 or #4 would all accomplish the goal.
I can't understand how people can enjoy gear swapping at the last second to gain MF. I'm compelled to to it but it really takes a lot away from my gameplay experience. Not to mention, it significantly reduces the value of MF on high rolled items.
How can you not understand people wanting to get 2 more rares (on average) per rare pack kill at the cost of a bit of inventory space and a few extra clicks before and after the pack dies? You'd understand the first time you get 4 rares from a champion pack...
More loot = more enjoyment for most people -
Jul 3, 2012Ruppgu posted a message on Magic Find Gear Swapping and RMAH Commodities Coming Soon, Gold Not Included InitiallyI don't care as long as they don't do option 4 or 5. For very valid gameplay related issues I often switch my gear before or during a rare pack. Often times this is equipping a shield or more defensive items if I'm encountering a pack that is difficult to kite or my defensive passive (spirit vessel) has already procced.Posted in: News
It would be a massive letdown if a band-aid fix to stop another problem harmed my play experience. -

The worst change of the patch is the nerf to destructible objects and chests, corpses etc... Doesn't this take too much out of the meat of Diablo? You're supposed to be able to find awesome stuff anywhere. There is no point in stopping to explore a bookcase or break some furniture anymore. That removes a hefty bit of immersion from the game. It's essentially cutting a feature out by changing it to have near zero use. I'm sure there are other ways to nerf all the chest/vase/pony cloud farming going on.
Exactly my thoughts, well said.
The change removes a lot of excitement from the game for me. I get a nervous bit of excitement while I loot a chest. If I walk into a room with 3 weapon racks and a chest I get excited. With the new patch, I'll get nothing... no excitement... just disappointment. -

- Inferno Damage nerfs
- Better drops in early Inferno
- Crafting cost changes
Nay
- More enrage mechanics
- No MF for chests, no drops from destructibles , etc
- IAS nerf on items I already paid for on the AH
- Increased repair costs
I was looking forward to this patch but the whole making chests/destructibles worthless completely changes my mind Stop ruining the game trying to combat botters. -
Jun 8, 2012Ruppgu posted a message on Trading Forum Changes, Commodity Sales Return, Disparity Between Melee and Ranged, Blue PostsI think melees are more gear dependent but once they get that good gear they have it easier than ranged because ranged still get 1 shot in Acts 3/4 no matter how great their gear is.Posted in: News
I'm a little nervous being ranged if Blizzard thinks we really have it that much better off than melee. We've already seen how bull-headed this dev team is and they overdo everything. "Oh you guys want hard? We'll just make everything one shot you and not test it! That'll be hard!!! We'll show you!". This repair cost thing is along the same lines.
I hope the damage nerf makes it so that ranged can actually survive 4-5 hits or this new patch is going to be horrible for ranged. If terror demons still come out of invis and one shot me... I'll flip some tables, lol.
Is there an ETA for 1.0.3 yet? -

That attack speed idea sounds really bad.... I'm kinda happy about the fact that decent items may drop from Act I now though!
Attack speed mixed with generators just make it too good compared to other things. 1-2 seconds to get to full resource is just too good.
You act like all classes have generators. Think about the big picture and realize that some classes (WD/Wiz) don't have generators. This change completely screws them. To make matters worse, attack speed affects the casting animation for WD so it's nearly impossible to kite without high attack speed.
This is a really sloppy change to make after people have spent lots of time and money acquiring gear under the old formula. It's not very fair imo. -
May 31, 2012Ruppgu posted a message on Global Play Reminders, Blue Posts, Diablo III API Update, Sword of Justice Issue #4, Speed KillsPosted in: NewsQuote from »Auction House Error 31073
Players will sometimes receive "Error 31073" when attempting to create a new auction. This is an intentional measure to help improve auction house stability by throttling the number of auctions that can be created at any given time. To that end we plan on updating the messaging that accompanies this error in a future patch to better describe why players are receiving it. If you receive this error message when attempting to list an auction you should wait a few moments and try again. While we understand this is an inconvenience, our goal is to ensure a more stable auction house experience for everyone.
.....
Are you kidding me? That is your solution to slow resposnes on the AH? Randomly give people errors? The correct solution is to buy more freaking servers..... wow.
I was wondering why I couldn't make an auction this morning due to this error. I guess now I know to just keep trying over and over and over and over again. What a headache. Things like this burn you out of the game a lot quicker. -
May 29, 2012Ruppgu posted a message on Diablo III - Game Design Updateheh... they don't understand that the problem with jewelcrafting is the COST to upgrade the gems? Changing the number of gems required won't do a thing. The problem is that it's cheaper to buy the gem instead of combine it because of the COST to combine the gems.Posted in: News
I would expect Blizzard to understand this... it's not rocket science.
Also, how could they have not intended Inferno to be so spikey damage wise unless they didn't test inferno AT ALL? Once you hit act 2 you're like huh.... I guess I'll kite every mob. -
May 4, 2012Ruppgu posted a message on Familiar Runed Pet Graphics, Jay Wilson Interview with AtomicPC, The Art of Diablo III, Blue PostsI think the biggest problem with the skill-UI system is that they decided to add the elective mode option and to have it off by default. Numerous times while playing the beta, people have asked me how I'm casting x + x spell because they're in the same category. The simple fact that they had to ask this question demonstrates the pure failure that is the skill UI. It wouldn't confuse new players if they kept their categories but at least had it displayed like the skill calc is online. The fact that the in-game UI is different than the skill calc on the official site is just mind-boggling. Whoever thought it was a good idea should be fired.Posted in: News
That's not even talking about the silly categories they made up. Most classes, the categories make 0 sense. Explosive blast is in the "Mastery" category. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN? If they divided it into categories that made sense and helped new players better understand things it would be one thing... but that's not what they did. They confused everyone with the skill UI. Is it that hard to have 3 categories: Generator, Spender, and Defense? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

^Good advice I'd say.
This is what I started to do as well. It takes a lot longer to kill things using spirit barrage compared to bears though... I really hate it. I hope they rebalance or remove reflects damage in the future, it's not a fun affix.

False... it does not exist on off-hands.

Most people don't like others telling them what is fun.
When I was gearing up, I ran the warrior's rest farm for a few weeks. It was fun for me. I don't care what blizzard thinks or says about fun.
on topic: It's not worth it. I haven't been back to the secret level ever since they completely destroyed chests in this game. Save your money.

When I talk about kill speed I talk about full act clears. Typically, people kill whites really inefficiently (hunt down every single last mob in the room, break every single barrel, don't understand the map generation enough to avoid dead ends [with enough experience you can avoid most].
That said though, 30 seconds to kill an elite pack is what I would consider very slow at this point in the game. At that speed, you'd get a lot more drops at MP0 (assuming you're in act 3).

Yep... agree.
I was in the middle of the doing an uber (by myself) and my connection dropped. When it came back I had 0 stacks and my portal was gone

If you link your profile I can give you an answer.
It's most likely a combination of one of more of the following:
* You kill slower than most
* You move slower than most
* You have less MF than most
* You take less efficient paths than most
* You play less than most
* You are really really really unlucky
Your low MF will have a major effect on your legendary count though. 210 after NV means that even if you did things the same as me it would take you over twice as long before you find a legendary. On top of that, I'm sure I do runs twice as quickly as you (no offence but you state you don't use the AH and are only PL 10 or so).
With that said, it likely takes you 2-3 hours to kill the amount of stuff I kill for a legendary. Due to your MF, that goes up to 4-6 hours before you find a legendary. It's possibly even worse than that if your kill speed is even slower (I kill all of act 3 MP0 in about 40 minutes for reference) .
It's all about MF, movement speed, a build designed to kill quickly and increase movement speed and knowing which items to slow down and pick up and which items to leave on the ground (gems, tomes, blues).
Typically, when someone says they can't get legendaries to drop there's a reason.

it's the rumor that makes the most sense. I'm sure a lot of accounts get hacked each day.
However, one thing that doesn't make sense is that the price has dropped A LOT since the newest patch. I sold my topazes before 1.0.5 hit for $10 each. Now they're 4-5M gold (about $2.5). It seems like a rather drastic drop in just over a week.

I remember that and I think it's a great idea!

but why would you do that when you can buy a gem that is both cheaper and doesn't waste your time sitting there combining gems for 15 minutes?

Nerfing him was fine but the way and severity in which it was done is just sad. It was a bit unfair with his abilities that he had both fast and illusionist but they didn't add a thing to offset the abilities they took away from him. ON TOP OF THAT they made the ability do even less damage.
It's like they didn't understand why it was overpowered and instead just heard people complaining and thought... okay so you want it easier... let's get the nerf hammer out and go to work as much as possible! I think simply removing fast would have been enough.
Why would you not offset the nerfs though? Add a different affix to take the place of illusionist and fast!
It's a boring encounter now.

are you kiding me? I have crap gear and I could stand in molten and jump through arcane beams like they're nothing in MP6. Please don't complain about the haves vs the have-nots.
On the fact that it's a bug (apparently). If that's the case, why aren't they fixing it in normal as well? Reading between the lines it sounds like they're throwing out "herp derp, it's a bug" just to appease the people wanting a harder game. If it's really a bug, why don't they fix the bug instead of just nerfing damage across the board? It doesn't sound like a bug fix to me....
