It depends what your goal is. Do you want to challenge yourself with higher monster levels or do you just want to farm as quickly and efficiently as possible?

This will still be the best farming spec imo but if you want to turn up the monster level, this spec won't be as good. That said, no matter what spec you're using, if you turn up the monster level you're also losing efficiency. I wouldn't use this spec for the infernal machine either.

took me around 15 full act 3 runs with 300 MF (with NV ofc) to get a legendary after i got 4 of them in 2 runs so MF doesnt mean much as luck

people that say they get a legendary every run or so are lying or lucky, MF has very little to do with it

Even your dry streak is averaging 1 legendary every 3.4 runs. I think 1 legendary every 2 runs is a good estimate if you are capped at MF (400+). Streaks happen. I've found 4 legendaries in a single game and then I'd go 5 runs without a legendary. That's how things work.

I'd agree that people saying they average 1 per run is off though.

You talk a lot, for someone who probably bought his MF gear.

I only found 3-4 pieces of it myself, the rest was from the gold AH from gold made from drops. Most pieces were under a million each (currently, they're under 500k each and next patch they will be near worthless). In fact, the most I paid for a single item was 10M for a 40% MF weapon (I ended up finding 2 after the fact, thanks MF!). I've yet to use the RMAH but continue to think that it's the only possible way someone could possibly have a MF set in this game....

The point of the post (which you completely missed) was that it's stupid to complain about drops when you aren't stacking the stat in the game that increases drops.....

    this!

that's easier said than done, what is your MF and how are your drops comparatively speaking?

404 MF after stacks. I would say on average, I get 1 legendary every other Act 3 run.

I'm not saying it's easy, but I'm saying you shouldn't complain about drops and ask for changes when your MF is so low.

    the short answer is..
    people are leaving the game.

I mean what proof do you have of this? If you base this on the stupid posts at blizz forums then you've been trolled.

Well I'm leaving the game and trying to sell all my gems.... sooo.. there's a bit of truth to it.

The problem is that it's basically the same as Hex but worse.

1.) You can't do damage to the target while it's swallowed
2.) I don't think it works on elites?
3.) Hex has runes that make it even better

So really... it needs something that sets it apart from hex and makes up for the massive negatives. I would say it needs a massive damage overhaul. Maybe 2000% dmg over 4 seconds (I know it sounds like a lot but this is a single target spell that you can't even control). I think it should pretty much kill anything it swallows. That would make it more fun (I still wouldn't use it though).

I'm really curious as to why the main complaint I'm seeing is peoples gear won't be worth as much after patch because more legends and sets will drop. Why care? I mean I guess I'm strange because I play to find those items and to have cool items. I don't play to simply have expensive (in other peoples eyes) gear. I mean if your gear isn't worth as much after patch as it is now, so what? You still HAVE the gear, and it still works perfect for what you bought it for, right?

    Their e-penises is getting circumcised.

Actually, people with lesser gear should be the ones worried by this type of gear inflation.

There are 2 gear classes that will be affected by the new patch. Let's say it's divided in a 90/10 percent ratio. The 90% class of gear is the gear that isn't bad... you can do Act 3 with it, but it's not "good" gear. This gear will plummet in value next patch. However, the people that actually have great gear (we'll call them the 10%ers) will hold or even increase their value.

Why does this matter? Well, when someone upgrades their gear, they sell their old gear. Your gear is basically your net worth. If the net worth for 90% of the population drops, that's a big deal to them.

Another factor that this introduces is the change in the definition of "good" gear. This is why I hate all of these changes:

1.) The game is getting a lot easier so the gear threshold of farming the best items in the game (act 3, no monster level) drops a lot. Effectively, more people will be able to farm efficiently.
2.) Gear that lets you farm the best items are cheaper so this compounds the issue.
3.) Drop rates of all items are ilvl 63

1+2+3= massive increase in supply to the market which in turn creates a vastly different definition of a "good" item. Why does this matter? Well, you'll have to go through more items before you find one that is actually worth anything. Since I was in the camp hoping that we'd get less but better drops, the game is slowly moving in the opposite direction of what I find fun.

Economics in real life do not necessarily reflect an accurate representation of PC in-game economics. The general guideline of supply and demand holds true, but there is certainly a different dynamic involved.

The way I see it, really high-end items will still be a very rare find, even at double drop rates. Very rare.

I would point toward certain upper-echelon items in D2 as an example. After many many years of dropping and countless thousands of said items existing on the realms, top-shelf items still held their value without much flux. And these Uniques didn't even have truly unique stats, no random props. Still, they held fast to their price.

So called "elite" (no-life) players are making much noise about this because they feel their bots will no longer make them as effortlessly rich.

Kind of true. The elite legendary items will stay the same (or increase). However, the definition of an elite legendary will change due to the increase in supply. The price on most legendaries will drop.

Combined with the changes to rares this patch.... the economy is going to be crazy. There was still hope before this change that at least legendaries/sets will hold their value but now that's out the window. It's going to make things cheaper so more casual players will be happy but for people that are farming, it will devalue items even more.

Try Infernal Machine before you quit -- the Rakk/Ghom fight on MP4 is the first time I've felt challenged by D3 since the initial gear-block back in the early days. Siegebreaker/Kulle and Skeleton King/Maghda look equally challenging -- not impossible they will be trivialized by the right setup / LoH gear, but at least they are making me think.

Will do, thanks for the suggestion. I'll probably play for a week or so just so I can try all the ubers once. I'm not looking forward to farming them though so once I've done them once I'm pretty much done.

That said, whatever the efficiency, I'm kind of bleh on just mindlessly running through with no challenge. At some point, the game being fun to play should actually trump efficiency - else why are we even playing, and even MP3 borders on being mindless for me right now. I've actually been thinking of bumping up to MP4 for farming even though I know that will be less efficient -- just so I have to pay attention -- at least a little :).

Probably good advice. Lately I've been thinking hard about why I still play the game and if it's actually still fun. I've decided to slowly sell all my gear and quit. Too much efficiency will burn you out!

itemlevel-wise, right? but act1 vs act3 in monsterpower 1, act1 is still easier right?
I would assume so, yes. MP1 in Act 1 *should* be easier than Act 3 MP0, but have the same loot table drops, but you also have a 25% boost in MF.

then what incentive is there to farm act3? if act1 has the same loot-table, but easier than act3.......

Act 3 will still be the best place to farm. The monster density is much higher.

//edit: Assuming you have the gear to handle it of course.

From what I've noticed from the PTR was that monster level 0 or 1 will the best for exp/loot farming. I was hoping for the higher ML to be more efficient but 25% MF just isn't worth the extra hp (assuming you're already maxed MF you only get like a 4% bonus by getting 25 MF).

Level 0 is so easy it might be possible to create a crazy build where you just run into a pack and everything instantly dies without having to stop to cast anything.
