@falcompsx: you're right, but that's the point I was trying to make earlier. Some people are saying that Blizzard's attitude hasn't change, they haven't supported mods in the past, and they're maintaining that stance. But that's just not true. In the past they didn't support them, but they certainly didn't oppose them. There were a few very high profile mods for both Diablo games that were certainly not under the radar. Blizzard had to know about the. In fact, I can recall some interaction between someone at Blizzard and one of the big modders, but I can't be arsed to look for it, so don't quote me on that. Point being, the mods were well known (at least a couple of them were multiplayer as well), and Blizz knew about them, and did absolutely nothing. Didn't care one bit. But I guarantee you it's gonna be different this time around. They're gonna care, they're not going to like it and they're going to do something about it. And that's the point I was trying to make: where before they were indifferent to mods, they will now actively opposing them. At least that's how things are shaping up, in my view.
By that logic, blizzard knew we used cheats. They didnt do much to stop it, thus they were ok with it.

Its such a laughable stance to take....the fact of the matter is that it was not profitable to fix said issues.
The game was old, the money all but dried up, and they could not really stop it.

Just a quick off-topic (and slightly on-topic): as you can see here, here and here (you don't have to read the whole thing, the titles are enough; these are just the first results in google), having more options isn't necessarily preferable.

So what you are saying is the current unattuned rune system is horrible? I agree.
Good thing they are changing it.

PS: You did not read those articles, did you? lol

All heroes have been corrupted from what I heard. Hopefully we've not seen the end of them. If I know Blizz well enough, we haven't.

Not true at all, blizz confirmed we would see the paladin, necro and barb as quest givers in there related towns.

The D3 barb was suppose to be the same as the one from D2, but they felt it would be unfair to the female so they made him a quest giver instead, now as for the Amazon, Druid, Assassian, they said we'd see the Amazon again...just not how or why...the other two since they were expansion chars...who knows.

The Sorc is the only one not mentioned in a previous interview, so no idea, my guess is she is the wizards mother lawl.

Isnt the wizard just a young sorceress dabbling in forbidden magic?

I think this whole thing is kinda cute. Group A doesn't like action X so instead of just not doing action X, they want to ban it completely and prevent Group B from doing action X as well.

People think too highly of themselves that they wish to push their opinions on others, when the actions wouldn't affect them in the first place.

Like I said, it's cute, because Group A is against something that isn't even going to affect them. (That action is modding, by the way.)
Thats cute....except you forgot that Group #1 only cares about the opinions of other numbers Group #1 does not even recognize any letters. Group #1 does not like X, Group #1 does not care what group B wants, thus X wont happen.

A hydra is a hydra, maybe a different color with a different attack. But why would that matter that much?

To completely change the game just so a few people can enjoy the cosmetics of a skill slightly more does not make much sense to me.

LOL, this post made me laugh. A Hydra is a Hydra, maybe a different colour with a different attack? Seriously? So I guess a Ray of Frost is always the same. Who cares if a rune changes it to a cone-type fire spell? No problem! Oh, you actually want your ray of frost to do cold damage AND look like a RAY of FROST? F-U, then. ...Seriously, what's wrong with you? The OP's concern is more than valid, and one I happen to share. What's the point of making cool skill animations (the original ones) if people are only going to see them in a small fraction of the game? The looks of the skills are definitely important, and the Fire Hydra is by far the coolest. And you're telling me that if I want to do fire damage with my Hydra, I'll have to use firewalls? Screw that. Every single damage skill should have 1 (or 2) runes that change damage/cost and leave the looks intact. It's a must.

And it's not "just so a few people can enjoy the cosmetics of a skill". It's not a few people. It's a lot of people. Don't make assumptions like that.

Oh, and your sig is a huge lie, by the way. There's ample knowledge about that. Just thought you should know.
I always find it interesting how people will state you made an assumption, and a lot of the times they are right, then they will in turn make the exact opposite assumption.

Not many people are really going to care if they cannot use the original Hydra graphics.
That is an ASSUMPTION......a lot of people are gonna care!!! lol

I would take my assumption over yours any day of the week. Most people wont play wizards as their main character. And the potential wizards I have talked to are not worried about hydra graphics, heck they are not really interested in the hydra period. At the moment the dmg of the hydra looks just as lackluster as it was in D2.

But as another poster said, isnt it just a small handful of skills that doesnt allow you to maintain the original graphic? The Hydra is the only one i can think of for wizards.

My sig is fine btw. Think about it and you will understand.

Shadows on Medium look more realistic to me. To have the shadow effect on High you'd need a really bright and sharp light source. That is not always the case, especially with all the dim places and low lighting throughout the game :P

Anyway! I got a GeForce 9600 GT and I'm more than confident that it'll do the job.
I never play games on Ultra anyway so... :)

lol, i was about to say the exact same thing.

I have a Nvidia240m here, so I am very happy with this report.

If I have shadows on high it starts to really bog down my system, I don't know why, with them on medium everything runs fine(everything else on high) - I get 60+ fps and it hovers around 35-60 depending on the situation, more players / mobs / spell effects.

What video card do you have?

The real reason is the RMAH. Example Korea banning Diablo III because of it, I'm sure other countries aren't too thrilled with it either.
Not likely....It is quite easy to not include a RMAH in areas that do not want it.
Korea has not banned D3 btw.

I remember back in the day cursing was strictly forbidden on TV, and now its common place in cartoons during the day. I also remember the day I tried to buy D2. The cashier at wal-mart would not allow me to purchase the game, as it was rated mature. Luckily my older sister was standing there with me at the time. So, I just looked at the old woman behind the register and said, "well ok, then she is buying it".

Just goes to show how much times have changed.

Ok, I admit the regular fire hydra does look cool.
But the rune system is not complete, so maybe they will change some of the effects.

posted a message on Question to players who are in the Beta, regarding randomization.
    Quote from Renski90

Well I've been playing the Beta for quite a while now (since monday to be exact) and I've done TONS of skeleton king runs, only to notice one thing.. The random loot doesn't seem too random, maybe its some CRAZY coincidence but this is what I've noticed..

SK has been dropping progressively worse loot after every kill. If you've played the beta through on different characters you will notice that EVERY first SK kill, he will drop a rare along with a few blues..

I noticed on my Barb, that eventually it went from a few blues to a couple blues.. to just one blue with a buncha common junk and now I've gotten to the point where I'm literally, every run getting 1 to 2 pieces of common junk every single run... I've tried a setup with more MF gear with the same results..

So has anyone else noticed this, or am I just crazy?

That is interesting. There is a possibility that blizzard has thrown in a level variable to help determine what loot drops. For example, I level 13 killing the Skeleton King might get 10% chance for a unique item, where a level 7 character might have a 100% chance to get a unique(yellow item).

We would need a lot more beta testers to input specifics before we could confirm such a thing.

I am not in the beta, but the dev team did state that the first kill of the skeleton king will acquire you rare loot. However, every kill with the same character after that will provide more common loot. So its not a coincidence, its how its meant to be.
I did not see that either...that is a great design.

Where has the OP, seen the various Hydras anyways? I do not recall seeing the 6 graphics anywhere.
I know I've seen them somewhere too, don't quite recall where at all, though.

    At Blizzcon 2010 I guess? http://www.diablowiki.net/Hydra

Hmm...here is a video, but the graphics & quality are really bad.

I would hardly base any complaints on this video.
