Aug 17, 2011KingCobb posted a message on Inferno RevealedThe max level 85 doesn't include throne of destruction. I think that was just referencing straight D2. I want to say Baal on Hell was higher then 85.... anyway. Venator: The idea behind Inferno is that it is all a flat difficulty. Meaning that Act 1 inferno is just as difficult as Act 4 inferno. I imagine the majority of the difficulty difference between monsters will be the amount of abilities they have. There may be some level variation, but I would imagine Inferno Diablo is probably level 65 absolute max in a solo game. Now depending on how scaling works, he could be level 75 or 80 in a 4 player game...though I doubt it would be that high. While inferno will be hard to solo, I don't have any fears of a level 61 fallen 1 hitting me. seriously at that level, 1 level advantage on a cannon fodder will not suddenly make them a huge threat. Now, a pack/horde of fallen at level 61 would be a much bigger threat, but I think a solo lvl 60 could handle it. A group of Unburied/hundred pounders or the skeleton king surrounded by a bunch of skeletons would be a bit more difficult. But I would imagine still doable.Posted in: News
Otherwise you have the Raid idea from MMOs start up. I can see it now "Need full group for inferno run" messages everywhere. You will be able to solo, it will be hard, and whenever someone joins your game it will scale even harder. -
Aug 17, 2011KingCobb posted a message on Inferno RevealedII would imagine you would have to play through. I still say if the scaling works, you should be able to have a challenge solo or in a group o 2,3,4.Posted in: News

Aug 17, 2011KingCobb posted a message on Inferno RevealedAs long as they stick with the idea of avoiding cheap difficulty i am good. No 4 immunes or iron maiden. I think you will be able to solo hell. Jay has said they want to encourage party play, but not deter those who prefer to solo. I think inferno might require partying to an extent, but I don't think it will be impossible to solo.Posted in: News

Example:
DH- Caltrops and evasive shot, caltrops and grenade
WD- the one with the hands sticking out of the ground and most any attack skill
Barb- Leap Attack and groundstomp/ww, WW and Hammer of ancients, Dash and Hammer Ancients.
These are just some basic ideas, but the idea of using them together tactically was screaming at me. In D2, except for warcries, there wasn't really a lot of using strategy for me with my barbs. This is really exciting to me.
Monsters--I am loving watching the monsters and how they move, appear, attack. The Unique monsters really get me going. Saw a unique unburied burst through a door and totally surprise the hero in the dungeon. Also saw a unique carrion bat that had teleport. I am pretty sure, that whenever it teleported its entire mob ported with it. Was givign the DH fits. Carrion nests are just freaky. Also, noticed some monsters bursting out from behind pantings in the lower levels of the cathedral. Also, some of the monsters--specifically the ghosts--speak before attacking you!
Am absolutely loving the lore in this game. The journal entries in the cathedral are great! So is the lore on the new monsters.
Weapon tradeoffs. As a 2hander fan, I am absolutely loving the damage vs. speed tradeoff of 2hand vs. 1hand. Finally it is more equitable and more about playstyle then just being opp.
Minor concern is that I am not seeing the differences in chest armor that I was expecting. But I think that will change as it goes deeper into the game.

I think DH early on, and this will probably be true of all the classes as you go along, works best when you use skills in concert. ie Evasive shot with caltrops. Plus, I think the DH are selling themselves short right now as I have seen several get or see for sell heavy crossbows that will do more damage but they stick with the dual wielding crossbows. The one I saw use the heavy crossbow became much more efficient at killing DPS wise.
ok, that carrion nest is freaky looking.....
