posted a message on repair gold increase?
    Quote from oxnan

I agree with the changes, however my only small concern would be about natural item decay, since monks/barbs are in the frontline getting hit alot, they will have higher repair cost from just normal combat without dying. This isnt much atm but with such an increase it becomes noticable.

    * exemple post above would have made his 80-100k with a ~25-40k repair bill without dying pretty much. while a range character might be only around 2-5k.

So maybe they should adjust that for monk/barb only? just a thought.
Am happy atm with the direction they are taking, waiting for that 1,1 balance changes to see how they apply themselves.

I agree, repair costs should definilty go up, way too many softcore players take dying too simply (especially no defense DHs... kill, kill, kill, get killed.. OK.. respawn and repeat). Not enough focus in the game on survivability.

With that said Id like to point something out oxnan, because so many Dhs, wizards, and WDs focus more on damage they are more likely to get 1 shotted. Thus they may not pick up the same wear and tear monks and barbs do but they can pick up chunks of -10% durability if they aren't careful.

posted a message on Finally got my refund!
yeh after 65 hours I find it amazing that they gave you a refund. I mean you basically played the entire game for free.

On the otherhand they are probably guessing you will buy the game yet again when they launch some cool additions like PvP, or a free new level. You really should have just kept it, never know what the future holds for D3. I assume they erased your character and items.

posted a message on 2H Bow vs Crossbow?
Figure id right something while servers are down

You all are missing the basic underlying principle, the tradeoff: average damage vs. attack speed. --there is a difference between the two.

2h xbows have a higher average damage while bows have a moderate average damage and a higher attack speed. Along the same lines dual wielding xbows have the highest attack speed but lowest average damage.

This fact holds for items of the same level and ignoring for now other stat modifiers. There are plenty of xbows that read a higher dps than a bow but this is because they are simply a higher level weapon (i think devs said they are putting ilvl on weapons after a patch so this should help)

So the real question is what are the advantages of high average damage? advantages of a high attack speed?

Both depend on your build, from my experience having high average damage works well if your build uses more high costing skills to output damage quickly, i like to call them shotgun builds because you can dish out big hits but have to "reload" a lot more. Thus go with the xbow. Ive also found that if you want to depend on your critical hits to do a substantial amount of damage go xbow. The range between minimum and max crit damage drastically increases as your average damage goes down.

Now if your build has a lot of spammable skills (i.e. elemental arrow, chakkarm) then you probably want attack speed (the machine gun builds). You will still get plenty of critical hits if you are using sharpshooter, just some of the numbers may not be as sexy (youll see a 80000 crit one time and a 5000 crit the next). Also as someone mentioned, attack speed works great if you like to run-n-gun a lot.

So to sum it all up, choose your weapon based on your build:
    1. If you are looking to deal damage primarily through criticals or are using a "shotgun" build-- I would go crossbow.
    2. If you want to 'run-n-gun' or want to use more of a machine gun build-- go 1-handed crossbow (you can dual wield, use a quiver, or a shield , but dual wield has higher attack speed).
    3. And if your build uses a mix of everything go bow.

This is just the optimal logic Ive been following and its worked well for me. The real trouble is staying alive...

The only good gear build i see here is Cookies, a good balance of both but even he could use more armor. My aim is to get about 6000 armor and 600 resistance, the damage will come later.

posted a message on Diablo 3 - Epic Farming Spot.
A note on farming spots, the more often within a certain time period you farm a boss or area, the worst loot you will get. Blizzard has a system that tracks this sort of thing so farm quick areas like these about 3 times and then try a new place.

No one has truly gotten through inferno. Just a bunch of people using now-fixed rushing techniques got to the end and killed Diablo. Show me a video of players beating top difficulty champion packs in each act of inferno... I guarantee it doesnt exist.

posted a message on Is the auction house messed up right now?
give it some time, you should get your gold returned to you or the item processed to you, if not just file a ticket with Blizzard and they'll get back to you. For me its worked perfectly.

As a sidenote: I saw someone writing about how when the RMAH comes out Blizzard will be opening themselves up to lawsuits because of errors in their AHs. Unable to respond to them then Ill leave this small message: Blizzard owns everything Diablo; all of your equipment, characters, Blizzard Bucks are owned by Blizzard. You are only leasing the software and game as very clearly stated in the TOU and EULA. You cant really prosecute Blizzard on any of your losses due to their system.

posted a message on D3: Unfinished. Blizzard dropped the ball.
Can we just hold on on this "we have all already beaten inferno" and "we all have maxed loot" ?!?

Both of these statements are completely FALSE. People with no lives have beaten inferno true.... but by beaten I mean they avoided any truly HARD packs of monsters, rushed most of the level just to kill the bosses... Id hardly call that beating inferno but whatever, they can pat themselves on their back.

Secondly I dont think ANYONE has the best loot possible, if you don't believe me go back and look at the stats on the Barbarian from that 'barb intro' video they released earlier, yeh i doubt anybody has gear like that.

The only issue is the auction house and
As for the auction house it is operating as expected. Everyone got gear they thought was "good" and instantly put it up for 1mil to 2mil gold... these people are rooks aint not enough people got that much gold to spend freely yet. id be willing to bet you in the next few weeks the auction house starts to settle down to something we can all enjoy: very good items selling for alot, mediocre items selling for affordable prices

Jay is still very wrong. We will ALL remember how long it took to put this game out, it may not affect whether we buy the game or not, but we will surely remember this as the bad version of a classic 'Blizzard' project. And the fact that they couldn't even put out a simple pvp system even with all the suggestions the community gave them really speaks to how terrible their management and design methods are.

we get it, D3 is more customizable than D2. Anyone who says different is retarded
Quit making these "analyzing the number of builds" topics. This is like the 5th one Ive seen
