I agree, repair costs should definilty go up, way too many softcore players take dying too simply (especially no defense DHs... kill, kill, kill, get killed.. OK.. respawn and repeat). Not enough focus in the game on survivability.
With that said Id like to point something out oxnan, because so many Dhs, wizards, and WDs focus more on damage they are more likely to get 1 shotted. Thus they may not pick up the same wear and tear monks and barbs do but they can pick up chunks of -10% durability if they aren't careful.

At this point I am getting quite frustrated with Belial (inferno) and will hire an able gun to take him down. I will pay 100k once the deed is done (you have my word I will pay, im an active member here and have a reliable source of income), contact me in-game if you are interested in the job: daggerbird#1310
or let me know here...

On the otherhand they are probably guessing you will buy the game yet again when they launch some cool additions like PvP, or a free new level. You really should have just kept it, never know what the future holds for D3. I assume they erased your character and items.

You all are missing the basic underlying principle, the tradeoff: average damage vs. attack speed. --there is a difference between the two.
2h xbows have a higher average damage while bows have a moderate average damage and a higher attack speed. Along the same lines dual wielding xbows have the highest attack speed but lowest average damage.
This fact holds for items of the same level and ignoring for now other stat modifiers. There are plenty of xbows that read a higher dps than a bow but this is because they are simply a higher level weapon (i think devs said they are putting ilvl on weapons after a patch so this should help)
So the real question is what are the advantages of high average damage? advantages of a high attack speed?
Both depend on your build, from my experience having high average damage works well if your build uses more high costing skills to output damage quickly, i like to call them shotgun builds because you can dish out big hits but have to "reload" a lot more. Thus go with the xbow. Ive also found that if you want to depend on your critical hits to do a substantial amount of damage go xbow. The range between minimum and max crit damage drastically increases as your average damage goes down.
Now if your build has a lot of spammable skills (i.e. elemental arrow, chakkarm) then you probably want attack speed (the machine gun builds). You will still get plenty of critical hits if you are using sharpshooter, just some of the numbers may not be as sexy (youll see a 80000 crit one time and a 5000 crit the next). Also as someone mentioned, attack speed works great if you like to run-n-gun a lot.
So to sum it all up, choose your weapon based on your build:
This is just the optimal logic Ive been following and its worked well for me. The real trouble is staying alive...

As a sidenote: I saw someone writing about how when the RMAH comes out Blizzard will be opening themselves up to lawsuits because of errors in their AHs. Unable to respond to them then Ill leave this small message: Blizzard owns everything Diablo; all of your equipment, characters, Blizzard Bucks are owned by Blizzard. You are only leasing the software and game as very clearly stated in the TOU and EULA. You cant really prosecute Blizzard on any of your losses due to their system.

Both of these statements are completely FALSE. People with no lives have beaten inferno true.... but by beaten I mean they avoided any truly HARD packs of monsters, rushed most of the level just to kill the bosses... Id hardly call that beating inferno but whatever, they can pat themselves on their back.
Secondly I dont think ANYONE has the best loot possible, if you don't believe me go back and look at the stats on the Barbarian from that 'barb intro' video they released earlier, yeh i doubt anybody has gear like that.
The only issue is the auction house and
As for the auction house it is operating as expected. Everyone got gear they thought was "good" and instantly put it up for 1mil to 2mil gold... these people are rooks aint not enough people got that much gold to spend freely yet. id be willing to bet you in the next few weeks the auction house starts to settle down to something we can all enjoy: very good items selling for alot, mediocre items selling for affordable prices

Quit making these "analyzing the number of builds" topics. This is like the 5th one Ive seen
