If the mod is only a drop mod than it is cheesy.
Most mods will have some changes made to the drop ratio but they also make a lot of other changes to the game to balance it out.

Mar 2, 2010Hans posted a message on Diablo III, Featuring BoEWho says there will be no mods. Blizzard just stated they will not support them. It is likely that the mod makers at the Phrozen Keep (d2mods.com) will be able to make mods. I think most of them will play the game for a little bit before they start to make mods.Posted in: News

Mar 2, 2010Hans posted a message on Diablo III, Featuring BoEI think it is better they look at having many different options for items and not only a few high end uniques or high level runewords like in the later patches of D2 Lod. I would like to see that Crafted and Rares be able to compete with them. I loved it in the old classic days when for the most part rares where the best.Posted in: News

Blizzard may do a different game in the Sanctuary Universe at a later time.
I think it is good to end Diablo at game number 3. Continuing the series to a fourth one will make it difficult to come up with new things. Making a new game that feels like Diablo but is not Diablo in name would be easier to do. -
Feb 27, 2010Hans posted a message on A DiabloFans Editorial: 1000 Places to Visit Before the Trilogy Ends.I have a strange feeling that Tristram is going to be the final Act as well as the first Act.Posted in: News
1. D1 started and took place in Tristram.
2. I feel that we need to get some information and maybe some items in Tristram to subdue the Prime Evils.
3. Later on during the Acts we hear rumors that the information about the final location is all a hoax to deceive us from preventing the Prime Evils uniting in Tristram. We hurry back and just arrive in time to battle the Prime Evils in a glorious battle. -
Feb 27, 2010Hans posted a message on Overhaul Diablo II with Median XLBrother Laz has been making mods for a long time for D2. Median wasnot his first project. If memory serves me right he started on Median back in 2005. There has been many changes and in many ways it is not the same mod as it was then.Posted in: News
The amazing thing is he did all this without editing the code.
Take note the mod making community is quite helpful. The community isnot that large now. -

Feb 26, 2010Hans posted a message on Overhaul Diablo II with Median XL1. Health orbs would likely require code editing. Brother Laz is not into code editing.Posted in: News
2. would require code edits and Brother Laz is not one to go into code edits. I think it would require a lot of code edits and would likely cause other issues with the game.
3. Maybe possible by using a state and a special aura. I do not know if Median has any states left. Otherwise it would require a code edit. Unless you are talking about some sort of leach. -

I wonder if it may be some sort of issue with the game trying to access a file that the OS is preventing. -

To Larry: I think they did think it through and still are looking into it. All games are a waste of time unless you are having fun playing. Ladders is not for everyone

Another issue I have is with the BiS. If I designed the game there would be none. Any item could fill that slot depending on the stats you need, even Magic can be an option for that slot. Legendaries would not be dominant and in a lot of ways they are just flavor items or filler items. Crafting and enchantments are the way to advance. Also there would be more items that are dropped and can be further enhanced. Skill runes could be dropped and placed in your skill slot to further enhance the skill. Magic, Rare, Legendaries, and Crafted Jewels. All items can have sockets and more of them. There would be a recipe that can add them to the item. Sadly Critical Hit Damage will be removed as a modifier and will be only set at a base value of 150% damage when a Critical Hit is registered.
Each Item dropped or made will have a certain amount of enchantment room available. Yes even level item 1 gear could be enhanced to a point to where it could be usable at level 70 and in Torment levels if you take the time and effort to enhance the item. It would take a long, long, long time to do as well as cost a fortune to do as well as finding the components to do so.
Right now 99.999% of the drops are for the most part just vendor or salvage junk and only a small handful of items are being looked at and used especially for the later torment levels. That makes the item hunt quite boring for me. Part of it for me is also trying to see if I can make an item better and the way the Mystic is used does not really work that well.
I think Torment 6 would only have a handful of players doing it and maybe even completing it. There would be no achievement for it or for any of the Torment levels. Did I mention the drop rates would be worse for each setting of Torment. Torment 6 would have hardly anything dropping. T6 would not be for farming but for the challenge.

If you are getting one shotted then you are not geared for that difficulty. Tone it done or change some gear and skills around. T6 should never be a cake walk and should always have a challenge even from the trash mobs. Farming should be done at the lower torments.

If I was designing the game no one would be able to do T1 yet.

The couple of days I played last week had some of my best drops and I had maybe a few more than during the buff week.
The thing is that it is random and sometimes you get the streaks where nothing seems to be dropping and then the other times the legendaries drop like hot cakes.

Likewise they made rune storage spaces and a method to re-roll magic or rare items and other things.
Another mod created a Magic Collector. You transmuted crappy items into it and it collects various amounts of points based on the value of the item and then you can use the cube with x amount of collectors with x amount of points and redeem an item you want.

I would open up quite a few different Ladder Realms and have one starting up maybe once a month. A ladder could be open for 1 month to maybe a full year. The short ones will be more of races. The long ones will be more about getting Paragons and or collecting all the special loot and legendaries.
I would have seasons that only focused on only using crafted gear. That means you have to make the gear and the only drops and things to purchase would be crafting components.
I would call the Ladder Realms Tournaments and they should be named after the theme of the tournament.
I would even up some designs of the Tournament to the puplic
