I could see how if armor still took 2x3 and some weapons took 2x4 and some took a 2x2 square there could be some variation but with 1 and 2 slot items there is not much room for moving stuff around to make much room for other things. here is a pic:
the d2 inventory is a 4 x 10 grid where the d3 is a 8x5 grid
I just dont see why everyone is soooo excited about the tetris style being back. The new style does not really allow for maneuvering and skill to carry more items. The only thing rearranging does now is make it more organized which the old system was very organized. Don't get me wrong, I still like the newer one better but only becuase it is simpler than a multi page inventory not because the tetris style is back because it is not. a grid system is back.

Aug 21, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Has the Tetris Inventory and Magic Find Returned?I am the only one who doesn't see this new inventory style as the tetris style. Sure, you now just have one screen to fit all of your items in but it is nowhere near the type of tetris style from D2. Every item is 1 or 2 squares. This hardly leaves any room for maneuvering items around to fit more items in your bag. When people are talking about rotating the items i just dont get it. To me it seems more like they took there last concept and just brought it down to one bag.Posted in: News

Also there are features that we specifically don't release in official form because they're not at a place where we feel comfortable with it. -

If you live in GMT +2 than it is 10 hrs ahead of California which would be 12 midnight. Just choose the time at origin and keep adding 1 hr if you are moving to the left. If you are moving to the right then you subtract 1 hr.
I unfortunately will be at work during both times but I was wondering how the live chat works. I will have my Iphone on me and I hope that whatever program it uses is supported on my phone. Does anybody know? -

Aug 19, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Gamescon Reveals Desert and More!Am I the only one who liked the red outline. Now, I know its not the best looking thing graphically but in a game where you are fighting 20 guys at once, it is nice to know exactly who you are attacking. I hated in D2 when I was facing a giant horde and I couldn't tell if I was attacking the mobs that I needed to first. I like being able to know whether or not I am attacking the target that I think I am attacking.Posted in: News

I've never used Twitter before and I've got to admit, I'm having a difficult time navigating it and figuring out what's going on.
nobody knows for sure what exact information is going to be given. Any talk is puerly speculation and guesses. The only thing known for sure is what type of panels and the schedule which you can find on blizzards site. -

Jul 29, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Traditional Weapon-Character Relation MaintainedI am not talking necessarily about damage. I guess I mean more of the sort that your relied on your auto attack in D2 for a lot of your damage where in WoW even the Warrior spammed his spells. Faster attack speed and damage are just more stats. I know this sounds contradictory but I am having a hard time getting my point across. It is just that auto attack and simplicity was a part of D2 and your weapon mattered. You could beat the game on normal without even putting a single point into a spell. Maybe thats a broken/bad feature but it made Diablo, Diablo.Posted in: News
I have a lvl 70 enhance shammy ( I stopped playing soon after WotLK). So I do understand a weapons importance. it is just that in WoW I worried more about getting a new spell than a new weapon. where as in Diablo I focused more on getting a new weapon than spells. Maybe it is just me. I just feel that weapons>spells in diablo (excluding hammerdins:P) where in WoW spells>weapons. Of course to casters it usually was just a stat booster but even with my sorc I was more excited about getting a better staff than finally being able to cast blizzard (is that wierd?). Maybe because the spells were set but the itme drops were randomized. Maybe in my own head it has nothing to do with game play and significance as much as I was happier to luckily get this better item that I might not have otherwise.IMO I don't want to get the most excited about a rune drop compared to a weapon. I don't want to be "ALRIGHT!! another multi-strike rune.. ohh and a better mace." I want "ALRIGHT!!! a better mace and look a rune I can use." -
Jul 29, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Traditional Weapon-Character Relation MaintainedThe comment that "it is too time constraining when they could be spending that time on more important things like skill rune effects" only reiterates my fear that fear that weapons are loosing their significance.Posted in: News
I don't want to do the whole WoW vs Diablo converation but...
In WoW your weapon was more for stats to boost your spells more than the weapons itself. You would almost never auto attack it was spell after spell after spell.
In D2 your auto attack was still viable and necessary meaning your actual weapon was still necessary for more than its stats. I am afraid weapons will just become stat boosters like an amulet or helm. IMO in a DPS game weapons need to take main stage over spells. Spells should supplement your attacks not replace them as I am afraid they are doing.
Please dont get rid of "auto attack" hack/slash means weapons with spells not spells instead of weapons. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

With beta even closer within a few weeks, there will be plenty of "work" for the news team sharing all of this info with everyone else.

Diablo Performance and Interview with Diablo III Development Team
Date:Saturday, 12:00
Description: After a dance macabre from the demonic hordes, Jay Wilson and Josh Mosqueira will be on the Blizzard booth for an interview about the upcoming title Diablo III.
If you take a look at the activities page, there is also a disclaimer at the bottom of the page. While the message is less than exciting, it should help avoid any possible expectations of what fans might expect during the event.
Official Blizzard Quote:
As a side note, any rumors you may have heard about a gate to Diablo’s Burning Hells opening in Cologne are completely unfounded. Seriously, nothing is happening at Rudolfplatz from the evening of August 16 — especially nothing to do with demonic invasions.
Official Blizzard Quote:
I think "nothing is happening" is pretty clear.
How much more clear must the message be?
Although it is unlikely that anything major like a beta announcement will occur during Gamescom, there will certainly be some information shared during the Diablo III activity. We here at DiabloFans.com will be giving you full coverage of the event and we even have a correspondent who will be there to give us any news concerning Diablo III.
A special thanks to Doomscream for sharing the schedule
